Veep hails India, Zambia ties

Zambia has described the partnership that exists between India and Africa as a true example of the south-to-south cooperation.

Vice President Inonge Wina says Africa has a lot of lessons to learn from India’s economic growth which has developed tremendously in the recent past.

Mrs. Wina said this today when she presented her speech at the third India-Africa forum summit held at Indira Gandhi stadium in New Delhi.

She has since called for a mutual partnership between India and Africa.

She urged the government of India to provide incentive to that country’s business houses wishing to invest in Africa.

Mrs.Wina said today’s summit will further guide the two partners on their development agenda.

And Mrs. Wina has observed that Africa needs about US$75 million per year for infrastructure development and maintenance.

She noted that infrastructure development will play a critical role to the economic growth of the African continent.

Earlier, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi pledged his country’s continued commitment to help African countries develop through financing and human development.

Mr. Modi said Africa and India share a long history of shared relationship hence the two regions should now strengthen their partnership for the betterment of their citizens’ lives.

He observed that the partnership between his country and the 54 African nations should be focused on the development of human capital and institutions.
The Prime Minister of India has meanwhile disclosed that his country will offer concessional credit of US$ 10 billion over the next five years in addition to the on-going credit programme.

Meanwhile, African Union (AU) Chairman Robert Mugabe, who is also the President of Zimbabwe, said identified programmes under the India-Africa partnership should be fully implemented in order for the two partners to reap desires results from their cooperation.

African Union Commission chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma appealed that women and children should be taken care of in programmes that are in the partnership between India and Africa.

And African president and heads of state have paid profound gratitude to India for its commitment to help develop various sectors of their economies.

In their speeches to the summit, the African leaders also called for more investment from India which should be based on a win-win condition.

Mrs.Wina is accompanied to India by Minister of Agriculture, Given Lubinda and Deputy Ministers for Foreign Affairs and for Health, Rayford Mbulu and Chitalu Chilufya respectively.

  1. These Africa summits really anger me. Which other continent leaders do they treat with such disdain? Only these 54 fulleesh globe trotters. USA decides it wants favourable deals…it calls an African summit and 50 plus Africans leave their beleaguered countries and haul asss across the Atlantic. China wants cheap resource the same 50 plus are scrambling there. Modi never been here decides Indian needs to raise its worldly standing…50 plus are falling over to comply and assist. Why cant these guys come to the AU or go to the different African countries. No wonder the rest of the world looks down upon us. No shame these 50 plus men and one odd woman

  2. kikiki useless continent with usele–less leaders.Lack of thinking by these leaders.Anyone can call them and they’ll be busy trotting there with hired planes.Iwe africa twasebana.Only God can save us from this nonsense by our leaders.We can trade within ourselves but we are enemies.
