Armed police officers in Kitwe have picked up FDD leader Edith Nawakwi in Mulenga compound where she was addressing party leaders.

The police officers in full riot gear arrived who had earlier trailed the opposition leader arrived in two land cruiser vehicles shortly after Ms. Nawakwi had finished her meeting and blocked as she headed out of the compound.

At this point Nawakwi obliged and was later taken at Wusakile police station for interrogations.

But a police source said the instructions came from above.

“We are told by the bosses that she should leave Kitwe now. We are just following instructions. It seems they are not happy with the stories coming out of papers and radio stations of Nawakwi been here. The boss (President Lungu) is here and it seem this has not gone well. So for us we are just following orders my brother! But we think she should just be allowed. The boss (President Lungu) should just concentrate on addressing real issues. We are just making her popular, why should Nawakwi’s presence here put pressure on the boss,” said a police source.

    • More like “failing govt.” as opposed to guilt. Mind you she is on foot mingling closely and interacting with people. She can also be ruthless in her speeches.

    • WTF! Lungu should stop this nonsense. Lungu found Nawakwi already there. He should have waited until she left the area if she’s such a big threat to his leadership (or lack of it). It seems there’s no one Lungu is not afraid of. Next, cops will arrest Alex Muliokela when found giving an interview!

    • And she can even give PRESS CONFERENCES!

Something JAMESONI LUNGU has failed to achieve.

Is this man capable of anything more than prayers?

    • Just last week was national prayer time for reconciliation ok so the reconciliation was just for last week and forgotten. That is why i believe the call for prayer by lungu was a political gimmick

  1. Leteni ilyashi. So this Nawakwi is really turning into a threat. Personally I think it is because she is exposing PF and they don’t like he stubbornness mingling with the grass roots on a one-to-20. lol. 2016 election campaigns will be memorable.

  2. So when the President goes to Chipata Nawakwi will go to Chipata. This is cheap politicking wanting to win popularity. Zambia is too big these politicians should spread out. What will happen if ECL starts holding his meetings wherever these leaders go?

    • three things about or groups of people supporting lungu and his pf. 1 chakolwas and bitches 2 wanyoko ni wanyoko 3 hired cadres and thiefs/pardoned convicts

  3. Lungu li bbollo sana. What is dafuqing thing afraid of? Kuya bebele next year. And where is the so-called reconciliation here?

    • Iwe kwisa! How many people do you gonna Kill. The economy is not well and we are ready to die for it to recover waumfwa!

    • @Bang Bang, Satanyyokko. Who are you scaring iwe kkolwee? Do you know us iwe? We are bringing down PF rule next year, and tukamikanda ba PF imwe. I am very much in the system and I know what am talking about. D!ck in your mouth !diot.

    • MM, it is not difficult to trace you using the same media you are abusing. Ask Fred Mmembe he will tell you how he has succeeded in taping phone conversations from his perceived enemies. Don’t deceive yourself that you are safe out there in Africa Borwa. Someone is watching you.

  4. They bring a platoon to arrest an innocent woman and with Kaizer they politely ask him to report himself to police.Create unnecessary tension then ask for prayers. What a pack of numbskulls.

  5. Whatever the black man copied from whites can’t sit well with black people. …from soccer name it, worse still what we call politics in the African sense requires a definition of what we practice, it is most certainly not politics. It is full of shiit what PF is fu****ng doing.

  6. I don’t understand this. So will this extend to Lusaka? Since the President resides in Lusaka, does it mean opposition parties will no longer be allowed to hold meetings in Lusaka if Lungu is in town?

  7. Is there no freedom of assembly in Zambia? Can addressing an indoor political meeting be a threat to rivals?
The PF should not turn Zambia into another North Korea or dictator Robert Mugabe’s Zimbabwe.
Please let Ms Nawakwi enjoy her freedom of speech and movement.

  8. Bullying meets primitive cave man instincts, disguised as modern working President. Oh to be blinded by power…

On the lighter side Kitwe residents are not dumb. And PF can only win next election by rigging and voter intimidation or ‘miraculous’/faux economic recovery. ED already knows it. Sucks to be ED.

Expect the Minister of Vuvuzela to add his ‘brilliance’ to the CB visit, in his usual ‘intelligent’, ‘well thought out’ and ‘articulate’ manner. Best dark comedy award reserved.

  9. I direct this question to all the giddy Pentecostal Christians who seem to be over the moon with the president’s new found spirituality – what is their comment on things like this, appointing a convicted child molester and woman beater as a gender adviser, and the myriads of other very puzzling actions ( which still do speak way louder than words) – that contradict Christian biblical values. Are they so desperate to get back their proximity to political power of the Chiluba day’s that they deliberately overlook the actions of the president and his cohorts? Which god do these people speak for – can the true God of the bible be mocked by our smooth words while inwardly we continue to plot and practice evil? Does he overlook the self interest of many Pentecostal leaning professors of…

    • @Najudah as a pentecostal it is indeed disappointing to see some people fail to utilise the brain that God placed between their ears.Remember when Jesus walked the face of the earth the religious people of the time were in uproar because Jesus did things contrary to what they thought was true religion. If Jesus walked the streets of Kitwe today he would not have condoned the arrest of a woman who is speaking the truth about the hardships all those out of politics are facing. He would not condone people coming together to pray for forgiveness one day and the next day do evil….God is not mocked. We are the ones fooling ourselves.

  10. Unfortunate if true, as it is akin to the powers-that-be failing to protect the constitution. Freedoms enshrined can not be set aside at whim, but by following the enacted laws.

  11. After this ati Mrs Nawakwi please come for prayers on the 18th its even a holiday so that lazy Zambians do even less work. what a joke no wonder I was drinking and sexing when the rest of you su_kers were praying.

    • @DIE HARD fimo fimo…….. What has RESPECT got to do with price of MAIZE??? I mean what has respect to do with campaigning?

  12. We Zambians especially those on the copperbelt have been taken for granted. With inflation way into double digit figures, kwacha having collapsed, and prices raised by minimum of 60% in most cases, the PF sincerely and somehow still believe that they are very popular. They still tell us “Seleni tubombeko” Maybe they are right. This is Zambia where expressions like freedom of assembly mean force of dis-assembly, honorable minister mean dishonorable individual, prayer means playing with God and truth means the direct opposite of the originally intended meaning and come 2016 PF continues! What a people.

  13. This is preposterous! Under which law? Is there any such power? This a clear breach of the right to assemble, express oneself, freedom of movement – not to mention the arbitrary action of the police. Lungu has no power to make such a direction. Complete dictatorial nonsense – acting on the caprice of his whims. This should not be tolerated by all right thinking members of society.

  14. Ba Die Hard, Nawakwi has every right under democracy to share her views or concerns; just as you have every right to be the provebial tick that sticks to dead carcas. You can’t simply dismiss her strong case on account of her private life. Who knows, you too might be having these popular snakes in your pocket, or you wouldn’t mask your name. Alase!

  15. Arresting her is just making her popular. This is a democracy.Who advises our leaders kanshi? Always making wrong decisions.

  16. But women will NEVER vote for Nawakwi, that is why she is taking advantage of Mulenga compound women for her meetings. she knew the president would be in Kitwe and she had the audacity to be there too. As for me, i cannot vote for her or a kachema.

  17. Nowadays stories I hear and read is about arresting him, her, them everywhere be it at the center and corners of the country. Where are we going? Very soon they will be arresting there own carders as they are being addressed and mistaken them to be enemies coz top leaders brain memory is being lost at a fast rate.

  18. Nowadays stories I hear and read is about arresting him, her, them everywhere be it at the center and corners of the country. Where are we going? Very soon they will be arresting there own carders as they are being addressed and mistaken them to be enemies coz top leaders are fast losing their brain memory. They really don’t know what to do now and the only thing a nation can hear now is about arrest. Open your eyes before people loose the fear factor of being arrested and that’s likely to be case coz the problems people are facing are far beyond than being arrested. Once that stage is reached, then we would have reached the stage of a failed state…

  19. What a blessed and good name for HH – KACHEMA. He is a blessed leader and those that want to tease him by calling him kachema are actually blessing and revering him big time.

Remember, Jesus is the good sherpherd (KACHEMA). So HH is actually proud to be a KACHEMA, CONTINUE CALLING HIM THUS.
    Qualities of a KACHEMA:
    1. Humility
    2. Care for the flock
    3. Sacrifice for the flock, and able to look for one lamb/cow that gets lost until it is found, will never abandon it
    4. Intelligence and acumen to know when, how, where to feed the flock
    5. Selflessness; ready to be bruised for the flock, even to die for them
    6. Knowledgeable in the art of providing for the mpanga
    7. Perseverance and patience; though insulted and bruised for the flock, he never gives up
    WHAT AGOOD NAME FOR HH…

  20. The darkest hour is just before dawn, so hold fast to your faith. As for those abusing power ”If Swallows are associated with the summer, killing one swallow or a hundred swallow will not stop the summer from coming'”.

  21. They arrested my President and none of you could even alert me. She is the most vibrant opposition leader we have today. Watch the debate again, she defeated all those poser presidents of the other political parties.

    Viva president Nawakwi.

  22. Nombafye mu Zambia ulukungu! Bushe ubuteko tabutontonkanyapo ukucefyako ulukungu namalwele ya mu chifuba?

  23. I have a few years to live in this world. my children look up to God and trust in him for your salvation. the word of God is being fulfilled
