Chief Government Spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili said that the resignation of Commerce Deputy Minister Miles Sampa from government is within
his democratic rights.
Mr Kambwili said that Mr Sampa, who is also PF Matero Member of Parliament, is free to resign from government because Zambia is a democratic country.
Mr Kambwili said that that despite Mr Sampa having resigned from government, he is still PF Matero Member of Parliament and a member of the ruling party.
Mr Kambwili said that Mr Sampa is not the first Deputy Minister to resign from government since the PF assumed office in 2011. He cited then Defence Deputy Minister Davies Mwila who resigned in 2013 but continued as Chipili Member of Parliament.
Yesterday it was reported that Miles Sampa had resigned as Commerce, Trade and Industry Deputy Minister. In his purported letter of resignation to President Edgar Lungu dated 29th October, 2015, Mr Sampa said that his resignation was with immediate effect.
Mr Sampa said that he wanted to focus on contributing towards strengthening the ruling party to promote unity and also ensure party sustainability in 2016 and beyond.
Mr Sampa said that he felt that he will be of effective use to President Lungu and the Patriotic Front at large.The Matero lawmaker thanked President Lungu for the opportunity to serve in his administration.
Meanwhile, People’s Party Leader has said that the resignation of Commerce Deputy Minister Miles Sampa is only the beginning of more resignations to follow.
Mr. Mulongoti said that many ministers and PF Members of Parliament are frustrated with President Lungu.
Mr Mulongoti said that it is frustrating to see President Lungu appointing people who have recently joined the PF to Cabinet Ministers at the expense PF MPs who have seen the party grow.
He has noted the need for the ruling party to put its house in order. Mr Mulongoti said that Mr Sampa is one of the hard working people in the Patriotic Front.
Minister is a JOB, you only resign from a employer you can’t have happiness together. You only say “democratic” rights to an MP.

Quite painful for senior PF members to be sidelined in cabinet appointments in preference to dubious and questionable new entrants.
Despite Sampa’s credentials including managerial certificates, the man is not the sharpest tool in the kitchen cardboard as he can be very pompous, corrupt and arrogant remember when he foolishly offered $5000 to unmask the anonymous ZWD and couldn’t handle the backlash…imagine a minister suddenly flashing that kind of money…even Fossil Chikwanda couldn’t stand his own relative in his ministry.
Anyway I don’t blame the man has been sidelined by the lazy one in State House for likes of Siamunene, Greyford Monde, Bo Inonge as National planner and Dora Siliya.

If Lungu needed further evidence about enemies within, this is it. Chimbwili, Miles and others have not forgotten how Lungu won the PFoolish leadership race. They are just waiting for the right time to stab Lungu in the back. Clearly Lungu has failed to contain Miles they way he has corralled Mulenga Sata at State House. Lungu has forgotten the rule about keeping your enemies even closer.

Ka sampa might be good as an MP in matero but at cabinet level he was quite hopeless. He is the one who was surprised at the number of imported foods in shopping malls, from chickens, eggs, veg to softdrinks yet he has been at the helm of that ministry for along time.

I agree with Hon Kambwili that Hon Sampa has a democratic right to resign. Mr Sampa is a credible leader in PF who can contest the party Presidency for 2016 and win agains the incumbent. Well done sir. Democracy is here to stay in Zambia. We support individual politicians who want zero corruption in government. Hon Sampa is one of them against the appointment of corrupt RB people.
