FDD President Edith Nawakwi has called on residents of the Copperbelt Province to help the country get out of the current mess by voting out the PF.

Speaking to FDD members in Chingola, Ms Nawakwi said one of the reasons the country was going through the current economic situation was due to voters especially from the Copperbelt who voted for people without scrutinizing their capacity to govern the country.

She observed that most voters in the Province especially youths made it difficult for other political parties to campaign as they made the province an almost no go area for the other parties.

“Get us of this mess just like you put us in it, this Province overwhelmingly voted for the PF who have now turned their backs on you. All the things we helped put in place during our time in Government are grinding to a halt because the people you put in office have no idea on how to run Government.

You are the people that put us in this mess and it is your duty to get us of it, we couldn’t campaign in this Province because everywhere we passed people shouted Pa bwato! Pa bweto! Pamaka! Pamaka! Any thing different was not welcome here. Some civil servants even joined the frenzy telling voters ati muleingila abali five five well showing a PF symbol,” Ms Nawakwi said.

She added ” am sure you have learnt your lessons and I know you will do the right thing by ensuring that you vote these people out because of the misery they have put in especially here in Copperbelt were people are losing their jobs everyday.”

And Ms Nawakwi says PF has no capacity to develop the country because of their inability to think beyond their stomachs.

Ms Nawakwi observed that since the PF got into Government the only projects they have concentrated on are those in which they can get a cut on as opposed to investing in needy areas such as the improvement of the Agriculture sector.

“These people can’t think beyond their stomachs thats why you see the country being turned into one huge construction site. These road constructions are giving them tuma 10% that’s why even roads which can be more beneficial if given to a private investor they are using Government money to construct. If they had interest of the people at heart some projects such as the Chingola- Solwezi road would have been given to private investors because the people using this road are the mines. They should have invested the money in other areas of need.”

Meanwhile the opposition leader boasted that no current political party leader can match her pedigree and experience in politics and governance.

She said she is the only President of a Party who has worked in key Ministries and has exceptional records in all the Ministries.

” let me boast a bit as well, in this country am the grandmother of politics, I worked in 4 key Ministries and when you go there ( Ministries) you will find exceptional records that’s why I have been so critical about the way these people are running our country.

If you go to Ministry of Energy I put up lights in markets to help marketeers do their business beyond 18 hours because that is the time that people from offices buy their items. It was under my tenure as Minister of Energy that we took electricity to compounds like Matero, Chilenje and twapia among other towns something I initiated which program has now been turned into the Rural Electrification Program. I also know that it would take five years under extreme drought for the Kariba Dam to dry up so when I say the PF don’t know what they are doing in the energy sector I know what am talking about.

It was during my time as a Minster of Agriculture that we came up with FISP, a program which has since been abused by politicians and not serving the intended purpose and at Finance we left a foundation which turned the economy of this country around and these are facts and not fictitious crimes am supposed have committed during my time in Government being propagated by people who have no clue on how to do things for the country without thinking of how they will benefit from it. Now tell me who matches that CV, ” she said.

Ms. Nawakwi was in the Copperbelt Province to meet members and tour party empowerment projects. The party has empowered 5 women groups in Kitwe whom they have provided with 2500 chicks and feed.

  1. I love this woman. I wish people would give her chance. I know people link her to the carrington maize scandal but if you look at all the people are standing, they all have skeletons. It would be good to vote for either her or NAREP. No more thuggery from PF and UPND.

    • But frankly and brutally speaking she stands no chance just like mr. Narep. Better to talk about leaders who stand a real chance

    • Ms Nawakwi, Zambia is going through the current economic situation because Zambia paid more than $4m for maize which was not delivered under the Carlington maize deal when you were Minister of Agriculture,Food & Fisheries and millions of dollars where transferred to the Zamtrop account at ZANACO bank in London when you were Minister of Finance.

    • That Nawakwi is on fire mweee. Please PF don’t arrest her again. She is so honest, yes it was those Copper-belt and Luapula provinces who messed up by voting for a wrong Edgar.
The man has even insulted the church by telling them their churches are no good, he will build a huge church for all Zambians to pray in. Will people eat in that dream church of Edgar.

    • Zaka zee-are you telling you only vote for a party you know will win or do you vote for the party whose vision and ideals resonate with yours. This thing of voting because you think a certain party will win doesnt make sense. Unfortunately its not just you with this thought pattern. Voting is not about being identified with the winner. Voting is not about seeing who was with the winning team. Thats aspect is for the politians themselves. As for us the voters its about chosing someone who shares our ideals. You are not given money as a voter because your party won.

  2. FDD should rally behind UPND on presidential elections. They could stand as FDD on parliamentary elections. That way will significantly reduce the chances of PF winning by 1% through rigging like they did in Jan 2015. FDD votes could just cover 1 to 2% of the total votes that could just be needed to blot out votes being organised by PF for rigging

    • All genuine opposition parties must tell the 18 to 35-year-olds on the Copperbelt & Lusaka that the corrupt PF is too selfish and incompetent to end poverty and unemployment. We need regime change to transform Zambia into a peaceful and prosperous nation.

    • @poloticaltruth, our politicians want all to be in state house. So how do you expect them to give way to others? Those are just your ideas. The truth is that what you think cannot happen. Period.

  3. Great speech Nawakwi. The Copperbelt has always been the source of delusion in Zambia. The majority of the people have been disoriented since the collapse of the mining industry two decades ago. They now survive by connections and begging; they are hangers-on. Their judgement on political issues is very impaired and short term. Let us help them to be realistic and rational for once. Come kopalas!! We love you,

  4. Numbers numbers numbers ba fididi. Those are not enough to vote Pf out even if elections were rigged in your favour.

  5. Every sane Zambian knows that it’s time for PF to go….just ask Miles Sampa who just jumped out of the boat in the middle of the ocean.

  6. Comment:PF will win the General election in 2016 whether you like it or not! Voting is on the ground not Online please!!!! Mark my word come sept,2016 HE ECL will be in State House smiling. We are aware some of the Political Parties after 2016 Election they will be history, so they in panicking mode.

  7. Nawakwi at a rally in Chingola this week!

Nawakwi travels all the way, for 500km, in a SUB from Lusaka to come and canvass for votes from one hapless pensioner.

    • You can lose election by a vote. Every vote counts. For your own info, that so-called “hapless” pensioner will tell his family and they in turn will turn their neighbours and so on.

  8. Well said Nawakwi. These people should hear this to be able to see the connection between voting and their livelihood. It’s not just about voting for a party because you like the slogan — yet the leader has confessed to not having a VISION.

    • A visionless candidate won elections against the people with millions of visions. A visionless has a better vision than the visionary.

    • @Sponge bob, be real. He went around using late Sata’s name in his campaigns to woo the electorate. As for who “won”, only GOd above knows. For your own info, he has no vision so I don’t understand your statement “visionless has a better vision”., He said it himself that he had no vision. Don’t type words just for the sake of typing but think before you type.

  9. NAWAKWI AT YOUR AGE YOU ARE NOT MARRIED SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG WITH YOU. I HEAR YOU ARE STILL A VIRGIN. DO NOT MISLEAD PIPO YU THIEF YU START MAKING NOISE WITH STOLEN MONEY. MAY GOD DELIVER YU FROM SPIRIT OF PROSTITUTION & STEALING. ZAMBIANS CANT AND WILL NEVER MAKE A MISTAKE TO VOTE YU OR HYENA YU ARE THE BIGGEST THIEVES IN ZED. YU FAILED TO KEEP ONE PERSON A HUSBAND YU THINK YU CAN MANAGE A NATION. TRY SOMETHING ELSE NOT PRESIDENCY YU CAN TAKE CONDOMS TO STATE HO.

  10. The people that have followed Nawakwi will see that she is always a problem child. How a normal person that insult us on the cb for voting for a right person in EL. Wanya we hull we chinyo

  11. UPND IS MOVING AND IMPACTING ACROSS THE COUNTRY LIKE BUSH FIRE! ALEISA ALEISA. VIVA HH VIVA! VIVA UPND VIVA! CHANGE, CHANGE, CHANGE. WE WANT CHANGE. ZAMBIA FORWARD WITH HH!

  12. Edith Nawakwi may not win the 2016 presidential elections, but she has higher chances of becoming the first female president of this country if she plays her cards well. She should ensure that her party remains active through and through and not only when elections are near. FDD has structures and all what madam Nawakwi needs to do is to make it attractive and competitive. With resilience and the right strategies, she is no doubt on her way to state house no matter how long it may take.

  13. YOU PIPO ATI ALEISA ALEISA WHO ITS THE DEVIL HE CALLS FOR YOU. WATCH THE WAY HE PULLS HIS HANDS WHEN ADRESSING YOU,WATCH HIS SNAKE LIKE TONGUE THE WAY HE TWIST IT & PULLS INSIDE SATANIST REAL.COMEON HH TALK SOMETHING ELSE. PLZ DONT FORCE MATTERS YOU END UP D. 2016
