Matero PF Member of Parliament Miles Sampa has revealed that he has no intentions of forming a new political party following his resignation as Commerce Deputy Minister.
Social media reports emerged on Monday that Mr Sampa is teaming up with Guy Scott and Dr Christine Kaseba to form a new political party to be called United Patriotic Front.
Mr Sampa said he intends to focus on serving his constituents to the best of his ability, as well as strengthening party relations nationwide.
He also said that he is not in talks with any opposition leaders about his latest situation.
Writing on his Facebook page, Mr Sampa said any media statements to this effect should be disregarded, considered false and completely unfounded.
‘On October 29th I resigned from my position in government, which I believe is the right decision. With that said, I would like to make it abundantly clear as to what this means going forward and lay to rest any misconceptions,’ he said.
‘I am not forming a political party and neither am I in talks with any opposition leaders. Any media releases to this effect should be disregarded, considered false and completely unfounded.’
He stated, ‘I remain a committed member of the Patriotic Front (PF). It is my desire and intention to be able to join hands to strengthen the PF party with a specialised focus on the youths and grassroots.’
‘I am immensely grateful for the overwhelming messages of encouragement I continue to receive on a daily basis. I thank you for your support and look forward to continuing to serve the Patriotic Front and the country at large. My passion has and always will be service to the people.’

If Mr Sampa is planning to remain in PF and hope that mana will for into his hands, then he is fighting a loosing battle. No matter what Mr Sampa does, he cannot beat the odds against him within the PF. Popular he is though. There is the head of state, RB, MMD eastern loyalists, explosive but untimid Kambwili and other yes sayers who will work against him. Strong people never fuss over spilled milk knowing that with work and patience, they can get more.
President Sata comes to mind on this. After a gruelling succession battle for MMD presidency in 2000, he formed his own party. He patiently worked hard for 10 years until he formed govt in 2011. Why can’t Mr. Sampa do the same? Is he scared of hardwork for 10 years to actualise his vision?

In my opinion Hon. Sampa has made the right decision to concentrate on serving his constituents and mobilising youths. After all, leaders are voted into office to serve the same people that voted them into office. If he is destined to be the president of this country, God will open an opportunity for him either as PF member or as a member of another party. For now I urge him to remain focused on what he wants to do for his constituents and the youths in general.

Sampa is a politician. Anyone who believe what is says about remaining in PF is naive.
He has two options..join forces with Undp..or form his political party. The later is more favourable considering he wants to be President.
The only problem with this option is that it will only weaken the opposition and hand Lungu easy victory nxt yr.

People should not be deceived by the proximity that was between ECL and HH in the previous elections.
ECL was at a very big disadvantage, namely; (A) PF was being demolished by internal wrangles, (B) ECL started campaigning at a very late hour and he had no campaign funds until the last minute,and (C) ECL was little known by the majority of Zambians. In view of the aforesaid, I don’t see why PF should not win easily in the 2016 elections.

Sata was Guy Scott’s pet project. Now I hear he is planning a book on Sata. I wonder what his analysis of his project will be all about. I cannot wait to read Scott’s book. I am sure it will be an interesting book but the book would have been much more interesting had Scott succeeded in frustrating Lungu not to get the presidency. So in that light, it can be said Scott’s project was a failure. I am sure he has a different view and his book will be full of glorification of Sata. It will be interesting to read that book. Scott’s new project is Sampa, and not Kabimba. Scott knows Kabimba cannot win elections even at ward level. So do not be surprised if Sampa will be the official candidate of rainbow party.
