I Don’t Need Permission From Anyone To Help My Relatives – Nawakwi

FDD President Edith Nawakwi says she does not need permission from government or anyone else to help the suffering farmers across the country.

Ms. Nawakwi said it is only a person without brains who can say you need permission to help your relatives adding that Minister of Agriculture Given Lubinda and the PF Government should be commending the Party as opposed to suggesting that it is illegal for her party to help poor farmers with startup grants and that she should register with the registrar of societies in order for her to help the suffering farmers.

Ms. Nawakwi said it was unbelievable and unfortunate that Agriculture Minister and his Government could tell the farmers that it is okay for them to continue suffering and that is okay for them to continue stealing from Zambians through the FISP program which has continued to be used to secure votes from the impoverished small scale farmers.

She called on the PF Government to appreciate that FDD was smarter than them as it has demonstrated how to run the Agriculture sector something she said the ruling party should be the first to commend the party as it was helping Government.

Ms. Nawakwi wondered what sort of judge would punish her for coming to the aid of poor farmers as what the party is doing should be welcomed by all well meaning Zambians including Mr. Lubinda and his clueless PF Government.

“I heard that yesterday in Parliament the PF Government are saying that what Nawakwi has done is not allowed in Zambia, that it is illegal for me to give you Seed and that I will be arrested and go to jail for helping you. Children of God, they want to arrest me because am helping my relatives with seed to grow so that you can be better next year.

I want you be better off, but they are saying it is illegal. Have you heard that? I went to Zamseed with my own money bought Seed so that I can give my mothers to plant something that will give them more money.., ati they will arrest me do you think that is normal?

They are saying that what Nawakwi is doing is not allowed in this country, but I want them to answer whether stealing from poor Zambians is allowed. I am telling this Government that I will continue with this program and many other empowerment programs because I don’t need permission from anyone to help my sisters, brothers and mothers move out of poverty,” she said.

Ms. Nawakwi added that the party will not relent in its efforts of trying to uplift peoples lives and ensure that people are moved out of poverty through a successful Agriculture sector.

“This is a practical demonstration of how the FDD Government will run the Agriculture sector. We want to show these people that we mean business and that poor farmers should be given grants which should improve the lives of poor farmers and not a bag of fertilizer and a medium of maize seed.

As FDD we will give grants to farmers for three years and we are talking about a successful grant enough for a farmer to grow food and enough to sale so that a farmer can have income for his family. We want to inculcate a culture of working hard and not that of handouts because we know that Zambians are hard working but lacks full support from the Government. Just like the way gets grants from foreign countries farmers should also get grants.

This was a practical advise to President who has asked those ” na amano” to provide solutions so instead of being jealous the PF should appreciate the fact that FDD is smarter and commend us,” she said.

The opposition leader said this when she officially opened Mungwi ward conference in Malole Constituency in Northern Province yesterday.

    • Ba Nawakwi, when registering your party you indicated the activities that it was going to engage in and am sure helping poor farmers with start up grants wasn’t one of them. In as much as we appreciate you helping poor farmers, kindly follow the law and register with the registrar of societies. On the issue of stealing under FISP, before you point at the log in your friends eye kindly ensure that the $4m which was paid for maize that has not been delivered when you where agriculture minister under the Carlington maize deal is paid back as it can go a long way in helping poor farmers.

    • Edith has wasted her life. She could have done so much more with it and for Zambia had joined a global power house such as World Bank or UN. Look at her now wearing ifitenge with her own face on it. Now she has two faces!

    • Change, did PF, MMD, UNIP, Rainbow Party when registering also declared as activities that they will be distributing salt, sugar, cooking oil, vitenges, t-shirts as party activities? Vintu vinangu shouldnt be difficult to reason

    • Lady Nawakwi,
Madam you are in a different class, I would suggest you ignore Lungu and his confused lot. It is actually a shame that when we are supposed to be having leaders of high calibre and intellectually standing as you lady Nawakwi, we are having to contend with these failed drunks.
Carry on with your national duties & we, the citizens, know you are doing an awesome job!

    • Nubian pinhead,
That’s your concept of being useful. It’s not hers. I bet you if another nitwit knew something about you, like you do about Edith, they would be saying what a waste that the Nubian nitwit is spending countless hours posting meaningless messages on LT.

Edith believes she is of use in Zambia, not the IMF or WB. If that’s ok with her, it should be ok with the rest of us. After all, it’s her life.

    • It is sad madam president that you have to worst time just to respond to some dull PF minister. Keep on working for Zambians, what these ministers in PF believe in is stealing in the morning, at noon and throughout the night. They cannot believe that someone can give and not stealing as per their normal belief and practice.

  1. Good way to go ba fididi but you and upnd will definitely fail next year. Its only pf which was voted in power without bribing electrolates. Ask the ghost of Ben mwila .

    • @ HH Techilema

You are 100% right. “… only pf which was voted in power without bribing electrolates…”

      Instead, PF has bribed ELECTORATE

    • Ukapapa sana, people are starving my dear. I campaigned and voted for PF but they won’t see my vote next year.

  2. Ms Nawakwi, indeed it’s absurd for Lubinda and Lungu’s cronies to suggest that it’s illegal to help people. Has anyone in PF ever heard how elsewhere, those in the diaspora remit so much forex to relatives in their home countries from the Western world accounting in some cases to 20% of national budgets? This is help from people (FDD) to people (Zambian recipients). It’s amazing how some of you contributors here have been blinded by your misguided loyalty to your PF that you refuse to see sense even in the most altruistic and innocuous of all activities. What a shame.

  3. Thanks Edith for complementing government efforts. I can see your party is trying to do something. My worry is Peoples party, I have never heard it’s leader Mike Mulongoti talk about his party. Literally all his comments are on other parties. Guys, 2016 is around the corner, start mobilising your parties. You can’t day in and day out be just commenting on PF, the post etc. We would like to give you support but you are not telling us your messages.

  4. If you are helping your relatives why publicize in the name of your FDD party. I think we need legislatures to table a bill to ensure that all political parties in Zambia hold conventions and the term of office should fall in line with that of our new constitution. This is to avoid rejected people becoming leaders of our great country even when they are finished. A good example is the PF we allowed one man to lead the party for ever until our people got cheated and voted for him (MHSRP). Nawakwi, Hichilema are all spent cartriges when people are tired and decide to vote for these people they will finish even whatever is left. Nawakwi and HH are just hanging in there just to pounce on unsuspecting and desperate voters whose economic whoes have worsened under the PF circus.

  5. Nawakwi is just doing what the First lady is doing and it shud nt be an issue with anyone except that both shud reveal the source of their funds.

  6. Given Lubinda today is 08/11 & the rains are here, where’s FISP. Way back in april we were told that fertilizer & seed are in sheds but up to now farmers in Micheal Katambo’s Masaiti constituency have not received their packs.

  7. Well done, Madam Nawakwi. You are demonstrating what we mean when we ask that politics be removed from the livelihoods of our people, especially the very weak in our society (notice I do not use the word poor as it is a haven of political bribes!). Those calling for legislation on matters such as this should examine their heads lest they start to legislate themselves out of the picture. I hope we can put that Tabernacle construction on hold and urgently help our small-scale farmers in DEED.

  8. Uwakalema takaleka, this woman as you all know she is an invalid because she doesn’t qualify to stand in 2016 and all these desperate maneuvers are to try and seek sympathy from our illiterate women.
Nawakwi must not cheat herself that we the Zambian people know very well how FDD came into birth, it was because of the refusal by Zambians for Chiluba to try and go for a THIRD TERM. Nawakwi was in the forefront and now she knows that she is a cheat!

    • @Ghetto, Nawakwi was never in support of the third term. In fact that is the reason why Esther Nakawala attacked her when she was Minister of Labour.

  9. Nubian Princess shooting down your own. Women can’t rule because they are so bitchy against each other. Nawakwi should be a brand in Zambia by now but too many women with a PhD (Pull Her Down) approach towards her. Go Nawakwi go.

  10. @Ghetto Power: Why dont you just live and DIE in your Getto instead always making a fool of yourself!! Lyonse uleinsundawila – ID.IOT!!

  11. Good work madam Nawakwi. Govt is intending to install 2000 Solar powered Milling Plants in the next four months throughout Zambia. Without support to the farmers, where will the raw material (maize) to run the 2000 Solar powered Milling Plants come from? The Milling Plants will be expected to run from January to December year in year out, otherwise without support to the farmers, these milling plants will eventually become white elephants? We all need to support the hard working few farmers in Zambia, let us not politicise everything.
