First Lady Esther Lungu is concerned at the poor state of infrastructure at Jembo Mission Hospital in Pemba district.
The first lady says the infrastructure needs urgent attention as most facilities have run down over the years.
Mrs Lungu said this when she visited the hospital running under the auspices of the Pilgrim Wesleyan Church yesterday.
The First Lady said she would ensure the head of state personally visits the areas in order to appreciate the challenges the area is facing in the delivery of health and educational services to the people,
She said President Lungu is determined to take development to all parts of the country irrespective of political affiliations.
And addressing pupils at Jembo mission secondary school, the Mrs. Lungu said she is working hard sourcing scholarships that will benefits vulnerable children with good school results to study at foreign universities.
The first lady said she is receiving a lot of good will from cooperating partners in Saudi Arabia and the United States of America who have promised to offer her office scholarships to enable Zambian students study abroad.
And now? What is this sorry habit of bemoaning things that have been systematically – and in som cases systemically – neglected since 1964? I suppose the next two First Ladies will take over the bemoaning culture as failure mounts and more prayer holidays are declared…
