MATERO member of Parliament (MP) Miles Sampa has called for more unity in the Patriotic Front (PF) as the ruling party prepares for 2016 presidential and general elections.

Mr Sampa said everyone in the PF is a factor, hence the need to embrace them.

“As long as you call yourself a PF member, we need to unite with all other members,” he said.

Mr Sampa, who recently pledged to support President Lungu in the 2016 elections, said the PF should work together because there is strength in unity.

Meanwhile, Mr Sampa has handed over a brick-making machine worth K120,000 to the youth of Matero.

Mr Sampa said: “The machine is electrical, it can make over 100 bricks within a few minutes.

“The brick-making machine is not a donation, you are expected to utilise it and pay back the money because the money I used to purchase the machine is a K150,000 loan from Indo-Zambia Bank,’’ he said.

Mr Sampa said he has acted as collateral for the bank to give them the loan and that if the youth fail to pay back, he will be forced to use his gratuity to pay back.

Mr Sampa said brick-making is a lucrative business that is being prioritised.

He said 50 youths of Matero have united to take charge of the brick-making project.

  1. Good thinking for Mr Sampa, but for us youths from Eastern Province applied for youth empowerment funds in January, 2014 but up to now we are still waiting. You are surely empowering the youths in your area. Noted. fm3

  2. SOME INDIVIDUAL DO THAT WITHOUT MAKING NEWS.
ITS LIKE BUYING A DRINK FOR YOUR MAID FROM YOUR BILLION KWACHA EURO BOND.

  3. Miles, this is a good gesture. Given the prevailing power and water challenges, you should have thought of assisting the youth with a compatible gen set and a water reservoir to ensure that the business is not affected by power cuts ( load shedding) and inadequate water supply. You should also have advised the youth to work in a group to steadily move towards generating a critical mass of youth with capital. Also advise them to operate as a “small company.”

  4. Since the machine is electrical…these so called youth will have to work at night due to loadshedding like other companies. So what is it is this money from his gratuity or a loan? In Zambia we need to clearly define the role of an MP.

  5. Viva sampa! This is a very hardworking MP.Had president Lungu received guidance when he was making his cabinet he was supposed to appoint this man as his vice president. He would have helped him win next years general election otherwise my advice to the president is that he must think twice and appoint Miles sampa as vice president it’s never too or else the Pf will be sacrificed next .

  6. this donation is warmly welcome and its good for the country. i know however that there is searching within PF why Sampa is doing this. he is calling for unity, my question is for who? ECL or MS

  7. Well done Miles. You are really empowering the youth in your constituency. As for those saying the youth have to work at night, that is as it should be. if you want to eat, you must be willing to work at any time. All it takes is hard work, sacrifice and that loan will be paid back in no time.

  8. .I hope he will invite journalist when grabbing the machine back….50 youths remunerations, inputs- cement.. sand.. water…electricity bills…transport…loan payment compounded with load shedding…the project may not be sustainable…
….a few months ago he bought taxis using the same gratuity as collateral….how does the bank give two loans using the same collateral..??
