Chief Government Spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili says the Zambian economy is headed for a recovery following the appreciation of the kwacha and the recent increase of commodity prices at the international market.

Mr Kambwili, who is Information Minister, says in the past days, the kwacha gained strength against the dollar, an indication that the economic situation was improving.

He also disclosed that the price of Copper at the London Metal Exchange has gained and it may gain even further in the coming days.

Mr Kambwili says Zambians should not be cheated that the nation is headed for worser times because government is doing its best to improve the situation.

Mr Kambwili, who is also Roan Member of Parliament, said this in Luanshya yesterday afternoon during the ground breaking ceremony for the Section Three Clinic which will be built at the cost of over 400 thousand kwacha.

And Luanshya District Medical Officer Peter Mulenga says the clinic will cater for a catchment area of about 17 thousand people.

Dr Mulenga says at present, people in several sections of Roan area were moving long distances to access medical help.

And M.S. Control Zambia Projects Manager Nicholas Kunda says his firm will finish constructing the Out Patient Clinic within three of the four months allocated under the contract.

    • Chishimba Global Kambwili, ever shallow. This is the same guy that told us Cabinet had approved Gabon Disaster Stadium as name for the new Stadium in Matero…no gray matter , just water

    • Which copper market is this baboon referencing to? Is it the jerabo market? Definitely not LME. Copper has fallen to below $4,500 over the past few weeks and still falling.

  1. It was a Sangoma that told him there are green shoots of recovery in the air. If he wants true answers, he should call HH again for a good realistic lecture. Pouring Euro bond money on the market and calling the resultant kwacha appreciation real recovery is the same like jerking off with Dora in mind and later claiming Dora is pregnant with a Chimbwilic foetus, never!

  2. “…Mr Kambwili says Zambians should not be cheated that the nation is headed for worse times because government is doing its best to improve the situation…”
    Two issues:
    1. “…Zambians should not be cheated…” Mr. Kambwili, YOU are the one who has been cheating Zambians, day in – day out, for past four years;
    2. “…government is doing its best to improve the situation…” Mr. Kambwili, if rescuing economy of the country, which you and your fellow Cabinet members have brought to its knees, then why the F*CK have you waited up to now?
Mr. Kambwili, please remember than once you f*ck, there is no way to un-f*ck!!!

  3. Congrats Mr Kambwili. When the copper prices go down,it’s Global, when Copper prices go up, it’s the government(of Zambia?) doing everything….and the economy is improving?!!!!!!!! I would rather fool myself than for you to fool me or me to fool. Especially when MrRB handed in some old notes to ECL to RELAUNCH the kafue gorge 750mw project. What really changes these nice humans into bad politicians?

  4. What pains me most is the notion by some pipo that only HH can turn the economy round. How do you ignore all the intellectuals and just put all your faith in an individual who has not come up with even a simplest theory about this economy? you will cry

    • @ Peters, Haven’t you heard from Mumbi Phiri that UPND and HH works with intellectuals and that PF works with marketeers and kaponyas. Do you think the current economic woes that Zambia is experiencing can be corrected by marketeers and kaponyas? definitely zambia will remain in the doldrums for being ruled by kaponyas and marketeers.

  5. Copper prices have started to rise on the global market. What will HH message be in the next 11 months. HH is so myopic and he stinks with envy.
The guy has no political mantle that’s why this time in 2016 he will be taught an unforgettable lesson.

    • THE REVERSE IS TRUE! PAYA FARMER, PAYA MINERS PF PRESIDENT EDGAR LUNGU IS THE GUY THE ZAMBIAN VOTERS WANT TO TEACH A HISTORICAL LESSON NEXT YEAR 2016. WE ARE KICKING EDGAR LUNGU OUT OF STATE HOUSE NEXT YEAR SOON AFTER ELECTIONS. PF CROOKS WILL HAVE TO VACATE THEIR OFFICES BECAUSE ZAMBIANS WANT SERIOUS MANAGERS TO RUN OUR COUNTRY. VIVA UPND VIVA!

  6. Ba Peters, PF will cry in 2016 no way these visionless leaders will revamp our economy and to make matters worse RB who helped you win in January will not side with you.

  7. ufo Your thinking is very shallow my dear. You think to revamp the economy from it’s present condition will only be determined by high copper prices, amazing way of thinking no wonder we are in this messy. And my brother quickly rushes to the media that things will be okey now. Please take your time that is why things backfire. Tekanyeniko panono muletusebanya.

  8. ECL version is truethful as soon we need to payback eurobonds, government surplus to kip as sinkn fund may be challenges too, workn hard is the only solution and not the fikayisova mentality of ba chishimba

  9. peters and ufo are the proper definition of CNP. If copper prices are the cause of the poor exchange rate and closure of mines, why then cant your Government persuade the mines to reopen now that you claim copper prices have picked up on the LME? And have you checked today’s exchange rate? The kwacha is actually losing value again from K10.4 to $1 on Friday to K10.7 to $1 today. Wake up guys!

  10. Bati kambwili is dull, always putting himself in the firing line with his big mouth. He rushed to tell the nation no miners will be layed off, they were. Now again he is putting his zero reputation on the line.
Hon kambwili. Being gov spokesperson does not mean you have to open your mouth aimlessly.

  11. Kambwili’s comment is a mess. This is catastrophific if other guys in PF don’t distance themselves. He should have avoided talking about this at a meeting meant for HEALTH, while some of the audience at the function have lost jobs, in the mines.

  12. Kabwili hold your fire. These are short term movement’s resulting from short term action. However, there is no indication in terms of fundamentals in the global market and in Zambia to support your reckless assertions. The demand from China, which is the main importer of copper, has cooled off. Edgar Lungu had an opportunity with the IMF to take cut the budget deficit in a significant way and create a foundation for the recovery of the Kwacha, but as usual ,he was advised by the likes of Kabwili to take it easy , Fi Kayi Sover.

  13. Gorilla in the mist! I think this one escaped the poachers in Rwanda when he came down the mountain and found himself in Zambia.

  14. Hiiiihoh hiiiihoh the ranting of Kambwlil potomus. Its like telling the unemployed to work hard when no jobs are created.
