Auditor General Anna Chifungula has retired after 13 years of dedicated service.
Public Relations Officer in the Office of the Auditor General Ellen Chikale confirmed the development to ZANIS today.
Ms. Chikale said the Auditor General’s office has already made preparations for a farewell party for Ms. Chifungula which will be held at Intercontinental Hotel on Friday, December 11, 2015.
She said the office and the nation were happy with the great services which Dr. Chifungula rendered to the country through the office of the Auditor General.
She said more information will be given to members of public about the retirement of the Auditor General.
One of the best Zambia has ever had. We will miss you. PF is celebrating!! Now they can loot and plunder freely.

I wish her good luck for her future undertakings. Ms. Anna Chifungulala has been a source of inspiration. I only hope she did not retire out of frustration. Now that she has left, plunderers should not take advantage of the situation steal a lot of money from the government treasury. I wish to further advise Ms Chifungula not to take up the any political appointment in the current government under the PF as it will dent her career.

Weed out rogue officers from that dept. There are some officials from Auditor General’s office who tips-off some accountants and controlling officers about impeding audit visits. Of course this is done at a fee and these unscrupulous officers in govt institutions or parastatals quickly put their houses in order.
She was the best but the auditor general office needs to be very indep.at one time she sqeused pf and they defunded her dept.useless zambian politicians mentality.

Even in retirement, Zambians still find issues with the person retiring. We have no issues to discuss in this Country
To be fair she produced audit reports that were independent and impartial. She exposed so much mismanagement of public funds. It was up to law enforcement agencies to follow up and act on her reports in order to prosecute culprits. As it stands out, her audit reports were merely academic, but I don’t think her office has any powers to prosecute people. On the balance of things, she was much better than any other government official out there, with relatively higher morals and integrity. Please name any other government official better than her
I can not question the caliber of Anne Chifungula as I only knew her through the news tabloids.But I has a big problem with the cabinet office.When we are talking about sacrificing and cost cutting measures in the PF lead Government,you go on hosting a send off party at the lavish Intercontinental Hotel.Who will foot the bill of the send off party? Is tax payers money or the workers at the office of the Auditor General and well wishers have contributed resources for this sending off party function.Why can’t you guys have the function at the new government complex ( new cabinet office building)?Are you PF guys serious with cost measures you are talking about day in day out.May be its cheaper to host a function at the intercontinental hotel than at the Government complex. This is the last relative of Levy Mwanawasa to leave. She was brought into Auditor generals office with no audit experience. She was a mere accountant while those with audit experience were over looked.
And how are Sata’s relatives doing at ACC and at DEC? Chifungula produced credible audit reports but the people to act on them were resting on their laurels. With the demise of Mwanawasa thieves regrouped and the plunder goes on. Until institutions such as the World Bank, IMF, and donors become tough the stealing and misuse of government funds will not stop.
