Government commended for allowing the clinical trials on the Sondashi Formula

Health Government commended for allowing the clinical trials on the Sondashi Formula

TREATMENT Advocacy and Literacy Campaign (TALC) national co-ordinator Felix Mwanza has commended government for allowing the clinical trials on the Sondashi Formula (SF) 2000.

Mr Mwanza said the clinical trials will subject the SF2000 to critical examination, not only for the efficacy and safety but also to put the ‘long story’ to an end in terms of whether it is a cure for HIV.

“We feel that this is an opportunity for Dr Sondashi, Zambians and those that have been eagerly following the events on the SF2000,” Mr Mwanza said.

He is, however, concerned that TALC has not been part of the dialogue on the SF2000.

Mr Mwanza said this is in the interest of guarding the people’s interest and also to participate in what is known as good participatory practice in conducting a research.

“In every research that hinges on human beings, there should be a component of good participatory practice that should be embarked on. We feel that we have lost an opportunity as a country to involve people living with HIV and AIDS,” Mr Mwanza said.

He said the SF2000 was tested around 2006 under the auspices of the National AIDS Council (NAC) and the report was given to Parliament.

He said there is a story behind the SF2000 and the organisation is looking forward to making sure that the claims by Dr Sondashi are conclusively tested.

“If the SF2000 is not a cure, it is important for government to ensure that the product is not sold to people until it is proven to be safe and a cure,” he said.

He said the Government should not allow the administration of any medicine in the country before it is subjected to conclusive clinical trials.

“We call upon Government and relevant stakeholders to ensure that no one sells medicine or claims to have a cure before any clinical trials are concluded,” Mr Mwanza said.

  1. You see we Zambians we don’t like our fellow Zambian to succeed. Surely all this time since the era of Mwanawasa, Govt has not tested the Sondashi formula.
We really need to support each other as Zambians just like we claim Zambia being Christian Nation. A true Christian nation, its/her people love each other.

  2. Stop crying about being left out TALC, the drug is at a clinical trial stage which is purely the business of scientist in the Labs. Surely TALC what do you know about chromosomes, mutation, genetics etc… Let the expects do their job by trying it on a few selected individuals whom they will closely monitor. In any case South Africa is way ahead with SF2000 clinical trials find out from your colleagues there.

  3. @Gara Wakateya, if RSA is way ahead with SF2000 clinical trials, it means that this formula is working otherwise they’d have not wasted their time and resources on it. #house Fly has a point too. If this formula was supported from Mwanawasa’s period, it could have saved or prologed the lives of many people who have died.

  4. House fly you are very right. Most Zambians don’t like their fellow Zambian to succeed. If it was a white man who came up with this, everyone was going to support it. Just like when a young Zambian student comes up with a software, SOME ZICTA STAFF make it difficult for the student to sell it. ZICTA will come up with issues like she/he didn’t follow the right procedure. With them the right procedure bafwaya wabalishamo a certain percentage so that they go and buy expensive cars and finish building their houses, this is evil. Yet the some government is busy talking about youth empowerment. VINCENT MWALE minister of youths, which youths do you talk about? Ba Mwale please tell ZICTA not to be playing with the efforts of the youths, its very discouraging. SHAME ON YOU CORRUPT ZICTA STAFF…

    Ecclesiastes 9:13-18King James Version (KJV)

13 This wisdom have I seen also under the sun, and it seemed great unto me:

14 There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it:

15 Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man.

16 Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.

17 The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools.

18 Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good.

    Apostle Shada Mishe

  6. Sf 2000 is working. it’s only that it is too expensive. A lot of people can not manage to buy the medicine. so the govt should go in and help this man so that the innocent citizens can access this medication.
