Republican President Edgar Lungu is still waiting to be presented with the Constitution of Zambia Bill number 16 and the Constitution Amendment Bill number 17 of 2015 passed by Parliament.
Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda has confirmed the development to QFM News via telephone.
Mr. Chanda says the President is eager to assent to the bills when presented to him.
Mr. Chanda says the public will be notified when the bills are presented to the Head of State for signing into law.
Meanwhile, the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) has called on President Lungu and Justice Minister Dr. Ngosa Simbyakula to tell the nation the status of the enacted Constitution Bill to avoid putting the nation in the mood of guessing where the Bill could be.
YALI Governance Advisor Isaac Mwanza says his organization understands that by provisions of Article 78 (2) of the Constitution, the Bill is submitted to the President at the expiry of 3 days from the time the Bill is adopted at Third Reading stage in Parliament.
Mr. Mwanza believes that President Lungu and the Justice Minister can do well to avoid what happened with the Final Draft Constitution when it went missing and Zambians had to rely on the online media who fished it out and publicized the same.

If that signing will mean the final and closure of constitution then forget about. Edgar has no running-mate. His option Nevers Mumba was gassed last week.
I believe Lungu won’t sign this act as he is dead scared of the 50%+1. It is a death sentence for the PF. Even with the MMD on their side if they want, they will not manage anything as MMD is dead. Period.
But that is now ammunition for the GC and UPND to say we told you that EL and PF is not serious with giving you a people driven constitution.
