“I am not ready to cause chaos and spill any drop of blood of any Zambian for me to remain in State House because I want the best candidate to win the presidency,” President Edgar Lungu has said.

President Lungu said he was ready to leave State House any time Zambians wanted to change the leadership of the country but asked his political opponents to allow him to govern a peaceful and united country.

President Lungu appealed to the leadership in the UPND, FDD, NAREP and the Patriotic Front (PF) to turn to God, stating that if political leaders surrendered themselves to Jesus, there would be no violence in which political cadres were wielding pangas and maiming each other on the basis of different political opinions.

Speaking at an inter-denominational prayer meeting at State House yesterday, President Lungu called for co-existence among politicians, stating that even politicians who did not believe in the power of God should be prayed for so that they could know Christ.

The President said it was not possible for him to be right at all times because he was as human as any other citizen and that was why he was turning to God in both good and difficult times of his leadership.

The Head of State said it was his prayer that the 2016 general election campaigns would be devoid of name-calling, malice and insults but should be based on issues.

“In church, there is no talk about tribe. There is so much talk about affluence and people thinking money is everything. But we must seek the face of God in good and bad times. Political leaders, please let us turn to God. UPND, NAREP and PF, we must all turn to God and if we are going to have God in our hearts, there shall no reason to raise pangas.

‘‘Let us allow co-existence and we pray that the campaigns next year will be based on issues. I am not ready to spill any drop of blood because I want to stay in State House. I do not want to cause chaos in Zambia but when time comes, I will go but for now allow me to work,” President Lungu said.

The President said Zambians should not be ashamed to be Christians, adding that it was important for the presidency to find time to congregate and worship God.
And Bible Gospel Church in Africa (BIGOCA) presiding bishop Peter Ndhlovu said the Church had a critical role to play in bringing politicians together so as to foster peace and unity in the country.

Bishop Ndhlovu said in his sermon that the church should not preach violence, tribalism and hate messages but should always preach peace, unity and reconciliation.
“We have one country and the church should not be seen to be taking sides. We much preach love, peace, unity and reconciliation and love buries all forms of hatred. So we urge politicians to avoid hate messages as they go for campaigns,” Bishop Ndhlovu said.

  1. But why have you persuaded your Minister Kafwaya to resign from UPND causing yet another by-election? Mr President, we don’t have money to waste. This goes against the pronouncements you made during your press conference. Every little money counts. Please, Your Excellency, kindly walk your talk. Can we conclude that the pronouncements were just written for your by your aides?

    • He mentioned wrong parties, why not include Heritage?
But Edgar “I don’t want to… but my party are doing it”. That president katwishi fye.

    • Mr. President, the only evil thing about you is that you are good at talking but very poor in implementing. So its good that you have conceded early defeat. I like that spirit. Farewell Mr President, it has been a good race.

    • This is the part that Lungu is over taking or winning over HH, Mumba Nawakwi.

This is a sign of strength and not weakens from Lungu. He knows he is not super human. Just like Obama and Mandela who was never shy from admitting that mistakes were made at times.

It’s does not surprise many – as to why he is winning people’s hearts. The man is human . Flesh & Blood. He will make mistakes and has admitted mistakes PF has made as a government.

Let HH go to the Copperbelt and apologies for the lies he said that he will bring Anglo America back to the mines. When AA has just started laying off 70% of its global mining workforce. The Copperbelt is waiting for HH to be taught a lesson.

While Lungu went to the Copperbelt to explain the reality that GRZ cannot save jobs, HH was…

    • While Lungu went to the Copperbelt to explain the reality that GRZ cannot save jobs, HH was preaching lies playing into people’s fears and emotions. All to gain Political Capital.

That is a Cold and Calculative

    • Now we know who he is. C/B is in a mess becoz of this man. Infact the entire Zambian economy is in a mess. What he says is contrary to what he plans to do and what he does. I hope he does not yap out of hard stuff.

    • # Patrick

Yes, make him accountable and he must explain why he came up with 500, 000.

There is nothing wrong to ask leaders to be accountable.

    • Lungu Zambian are not f00lish to believe your cheap rhetoric. They want to see action by arresting those PF cadres causing violence first before they believe you. In fact they will only believe when the following is 2 important things are done.

1 Allow opposition political parties to conduct mobilising meetings without police permits.
2 Act by arresting all those PF cadres who have attacked HH in CB, Kabimba, and the journalists in Chipata.

But still I dont believe a word uttered by any PF cadre because only the opposite of what they say is the absolute truth.

Lungu is actually telling the nation to prepare for more violence in order to stay in power. He is prepared to kill HH and the post paper owner to hold on to power.

      Only UPND will save Zambia.

    • #xfactor, it does not take one to be superhuman to realize that Kanene is a defiler not to be pardoned because he sang a song of praise for Lungu or that Kaizer is a corrupt gun welding person not to be associated with as a president or that Austin Liato should not be pardoned after plundering state resources. All these decisions and many more are a clear sign of a president that lacks moral judgment and is trying to hide behind Christianity so that Zambians do not see all of this

      Meanwhile Aleisa HH

    • # Chils

That’s why we have democracy. The people will be given an opportunity to choose the next leader in less than 8 months.

    • I am really worried. Why does Lungu keep on making constant reference to his opposition to spilling blood? Who has asked him to spill blood? And whose blood is to be spilled? Is he publicly responding to private conversations? What is the president telling us through these blood spilling remarks?

    • Very good message but to the WRONG audience. NON VIOLENCE is the message that EVERY party should preach to their followers & supporters in their conventions, party meetings and political rallies – it should be a pledge by which every active political cadre or member of ANY party should be governed.

    • Always look to the opposite of whatever PF are saying. That’s the way Sata set up his party. They always mean the opposite of what they say. What normal person would dream of shedding blood in relation to an election? Is Lungu having an emotional struggle within him, and talking aloud against his devils? President Evil!

    • Someone writes his speeches and he knows how to read. But he doesn’t know what his reading coz his words and his actions don’t seem to gel.

    • The only violence that can help Lungu cling to State House is that of the PF thugs and compromised Police.

Lest you forget, Lungu ascended to PF presidency on violence…..we all saw it how Sampa taxis were burnt.

      Lungu and violence are one!!

  2. The problem your excellence is that you like to talk from your little church at state house instead of taming your dogs in the likes of Davis Chama and the like…. Please can you practice what you preach

  3. Mr Lungu has admitted that he is losing elections next year. Go well Mr Kachasu Man. the only thing you have managed to achieve is your share of being put to rest at Embasy Park. You have been very vision less sir.

    • You have no electricity and you are busy shouting Ifintu ni Anyoko – How more stU.pid can you be my Good Lord Jesus Christ?

    • Of all the Presidents Zambia has ever had, this suffers from a crisis of confidence. How can the entire President be asking for space to govern instead of simply governing? Take responsibility and lead Mr. President!

    • @saulosi. You guys are strange Christians. What happened to your Christian beliefs on sharing? Your fellow Zambians have no electricity and you couldn’t care less ati ifintu ni Lungu?!! Zambians, are you reading, listening, feeling?

    • So Saulosi aka Luapula Primier you are boasting for being at State House where power is assured 24/7……talk of animal farm!!!

    • Is he great? Great for what?……

Reducing value of Kwacha by more than 100%; from K5 to K10 or
Increasing inflation from single digits of circa 6% to now over 20% ; a 300%+ increase or
Making corruption prevalent like mushroom in rainy season or
Increasing prices of groceries to skyrocket level such as bread now selling over K8 when Sata had rejected any price close to K5 or
Getting Zambia back into a debt trap????

What is the greatness of this man?

  4. That is my president.Ready to surrender presidency without shedding of any blood. We need to have presidents who will respect the peoples’ will.To me the president has shown that he puts the country forward other than personal ego. There is no reason as to why some one should cring unto presidency even when indicators are showing negativity. If the ballot paper talks otherwise, you need to abide by peoples’ will.I feel for opposition because it will be very difficult for them to relinquish power in case they win.The current opposition is full of themselves. One can only gauge them in intra party democracy. They have stayed in power for a long time without going to convention.

    • He is the president!
      We must blame him!
Do you know what it means to be president?
      Google the word president.
      The buck stops at him!
When things go well, we praise him. When they go south, blame him!
      That’s how it works.
      No performance, no sympathy.

  5. To me this sounds like one of those sermons from the Pharisees or is it one of Tupac’s lines, “I aint a killer but dont push me…”. Why talk of “not wanting to spill blood”, “will fall on you like a ton of bricks”, “leave Zambia if you dont agree with me”, “resign from PF if you dont like my leadership style”, “Dr Scot is not my friend, we dont drink together”, etc.. Pretty consistent with alarming and threatening messages all the time.

How about the wish of so many Zambians who wanted a proper PF presidential candidate conference and they probably would have voted for Miles Sampa had it not been for those intimidation from Mr Lungu’s supporters flashing “Samurai” machetes. Why should we now believe that the President is sincere when the opposition leaders are still…

    • contd…
Why should we now believe that the President is sincere when the opposition leaders are still being blocked in some parts of the country by PF cadres and compromised Police? Violence against opposition leaders and supporters is still being entertained.. Some may believe this article, but I dont. I can see through lies. Sorry. Trying to get the Church’s vote!! Cant believe it.

  6. Both the pf en upnd share the blame on violence. Plz dont blame police for their job. I have noted with concern that upnd attitude is very childish. They always provoke police to arrest them en they do rush to the press for world sympathy. They behave like Palestinians who always provokes Israel en the moment Israel retaliates the Palestinians start displaying the bodies of their dead children. So upnd should just work with police as partners to combat violence. Pf should on their part tame some of their unruly cadres

  7. We know that UPND cadres have been given a lashing by both GBM and Hh that these 2 fellas will not take kindly to losing. They want it at all cost. i dare any cadre who is disputing when this instruction was given . They stated in the meeting that they are not losers and want to go to state house at all costs

    • What’s wrong with that in a democratic dispensation? After, that’s what Lungu and you imbeciles are fighting for WITH your Pangas! Arsewhore!!

  8. Clean up your household and then everyone else will do the same. You cant preach peace if people from within your party are busy encouraging disunity.

    • Dont mind that hypocrite of a foolish president! People are being hacked in his Chipata and he is telling us rubbish as if he will ever do what he says. You now know he is a liar and will not easily give up power – believe me!!

  9. Don’t be foo.led again – Lungu will cause chaos and will not easily give up power. People are being beaten and hacked in his Chipata and the bastard is quiet! That’s not someone who is about to give up power. Dont be deceived! In fact who attended that service? A few shallow minded journalists and members of his government!!

  10. ask doctor francis mupeta what happened in maamba general hospital and also ask doctor george pupwe what happened to him in choma general hospital, then raise a comment, also find out from mwasa swasco in choma what happened

  11. nice message mr lungu now give an order to the police to start allowing the opposition parties to start mobilising their parties if u really mean what ypu ar saying.

  12. Happy Xmas To All Tongas And Bembas U Are Very Gud ,loving And Hard Working Pipo Just Like Others.
But Ichikwanka Bachimwena Ku mampala Nya. I Know Bembas Have Forgiven HH Just Like Chama Was Forgiven.
    NOW LISTEN
*Hh twapapata stop this tribe thing against bembas after or the president now is not bemba.
*stop cheating and alarming the nation u just decampaign yourself

    SET RULES FOR POLITICA PARTIES

*all political cadres shud be registered give them political cards with data entered at zp in area of operation. If found in violence shud be given 2 yellow cards the third red card meaning u will be suspended to take part in politics for five years and be proscuted for the offence. If one without card is found treat it as a criminal offence.
WE ARE FADE UP OF THIS NONSES DO…

  13. PRESIDENT LUNGU IS THE WORST HYOCRITE I HAVE EVER SEEN. HE IS PAYING AND SENDING PEOPLE TO MALIGN HIS POLITICAL OPPONENTS AND YET HE CLAIMS TO BE A MAN OF GOD. HE IS PAYING CADRES TO BEAT UP PERCEIVED POLITICAL ENEMIES AT THE SAME TIME HE IS CLAIMING TO BE A MAN OF GOD.

  14. What blood shed are you talking about.Davies Chama shot UPND members in Mulobezi you are quite,Cadres are beating journalist you are quite people are being beaten in markets you are quite.
The same Bishop was attacked in matero in the church by PF caders no arrest were made.
You have failed to control the situation my president.
You have already shed the blood dear we are only waiting for 2016.

  15. Anga losse so muntu… aaaaaahhhh, i urge my fellow friends to campaign for HH otherwise it will only be us “intellectuals” who will vote for him

  16. BREAKING NEWS : DON’T DRAG ME IN YOUR TRIBALISM -Chieftaines Choongo tells Davies Chama and advise HH to commence legal proceedings

Chieftaines Choongo of the Ila people of Monze District of Southern Province has told Patriotic Front Secretary General Davies Chama and Times of Zambia should leave her out of his hate for Tongas and Mr Hichilema in particular.

“Iam a Chieftaines for heavens sake , why should Mr Chama of all the people try to use me to get at his political opponents ? I have never received any telephone call from Mr Hichilema to discuss anything of that matter leave alone Mr Chama’s visit because that’s doesn’t concern him or me.. While i acknowledge Mr Chama did pay a courtesy call on me when he was in my area to inspect Project “atleast that’s how he…

  17. The best approach is to ensure the Elections are fair and peaceful, disarm cadres with weapons from all parties, even the political playing field. Then there will be no need to worry or talk of blood shed. KK used to unleash the para-military police and the army through dawn raids to comb compounds in Lusaka of people with weapons and illegal immigrants. The trouble is that since Chiluba days the street boys have been given way too much power and police are looking, these gangs are ones which are a threat to Zambia’s peace.

  18. Each time there is an Election even in provinces, gangs are shipped from the line of rail to go and cause havoc, intimidate, oppress and fight. The trend is now catching up with locals in smaller towns and districts who are also arming themeslves to the teeth thinking its cool to wave pangas, rocks and sticks. This terrible culture has to stop.

  19. Its a forgone conclusion lungu is winning by 20% margin at whatever voter turnout between 36 % to 40 % even when Lusaka is shared western and southern is given to HH and half of north-western

Its confirmed and scientifically proven No chance for my in-law HH and no need for unnecessary bloodshed

    Its a forgone conclusion

  20. ITS A FORGONE CONCLUSION BUT THOSE REGIONS IF WELL CAMPAIGNED IN WILL ONLY REQUIRE A DISTRIBUTION OF 5% OF THOSE VOTES BUT LOOKING AT IT FUNDAMENTALLY AND TECHNICALLY THOSE EARLIERS WILL REGISTER ABOVE THE TARGETED 5% FOR EDGAR AND THEREFORE AT ANY TURNOUT BETWEEN 36% TO 40% LUNGU WILL WIN COMFORTABLY BY 20% OF THOSE VOTES

STOP WASTING TIME AND RECONSIDER THERE IS NO STRONG CANDIDATE TO STRUCTURELY ALTER AND SHIFT LAST YEARS PATTERN THAT MARGINALLY HELPED HH BUT THIS TIME ITS A FORGONE CONCLUSION ITS LUNGU 20%

NO NEED FOR BLOOD SHED FOR WHAT ITS NOT A HOTLY CONTESTED ELECTION FIND ANOTHER STRONG CANDIDATE TO HH OF ZAMBIAN…

  21. NATIONAL CHARECTER EASY TO SELL EVEN WHEN NOT COMPAIGNED

HE CANNOT WIN 2016 TO EDGAR ITS IMPOSSIBLE OKAY

    CLOSED

  22. Our photocopy president….does he understand what he’s talking about?for the first time in the history of this country the govt is building a church…violence is increasing and their so called leaders are in denial…watch the space, someone will be at The Hague after next year.

  23. Hey guys, have just gone two days without power….is this supposed to be normal? I thought a prominent member of the power failure(Pf) had made a pit stop at the kariba dam and did the deed….it’s difficult to imagine how low this country has sunk….to start accepting poor services…what you see at zesco is symptomatic of the failures across sectors in thi country….Pf thugs obviously think its normal…

  24. C’mon bwana Lungu, you can be like Raila Odinga,Robert Mugabe,Charles Taylor and Hosni Mubarak who all shed blood to gain power or remain in power.

  25. When the people have elected a Leader, the might of the State must ensure the Leader Rules. Opposition have no right to try and prevent this. The Chosen Leader does not need permission from disgruntled opposition.

    • The heart of Zambia is His Excellency President Lungu. Sir, do not be diffident in accepting that honour. Your strength comes from the people. Please no more faint hearted stuff, Stand Tall. You have God behind you, how shall you fail? Own it.

    • I’d prefer Lungu to govern…rulers always abuse power.

When the likes of Mugabe rule they abuse power and when the likes of Obama lead a nation ,they actually govern .

  26. ..but all fingers are pointing towards experiencing bloodshed in 2016 elections…action to avert that shall speak louder than the preaching…

  27. Your Excellency, you have all the powers, vested in you by the people of Zambia, to stop the political violence, tribal politics and ensure a non-partisan Zambia Police Service. As our top most leader, walk the walk, be our hope for a peaceful Zambia (we want peace not political violence). Be our motivation for a true One Zambia One Nation. Be the first one to castigate those championing tribal politics whether within PF or opposition parties. By doing these things, even God will bless your efforts and you will succeed in everything.

    • Who said vote for mwana wamuvumo? Wako ni wako……vote PF to see development …..I will crush you…..we shall beat up UPND because we are stronger ….???!!

  28. How do you just go & parade your long front teeth at lnter continet without taming your own tribal dogs in your home! Sorry the blood got spiled already Mr lungu.. Just guess what! we really needed you most, had it not been yo tribal stray dogs who made me & my whole family & freinds to have our minds made up!
