THE father of an eight-year-old girl, who is currently battling for her life at Levy Mwanawasa Hospital, told a Lusaka Magistrate’s Court how his daughter was abducted and later defiled.
He was giving evidence in a case in which Peter Mwila is charged with three counts of burglary and theft, defilement and abduction.
When the case came up for trial before magistrate Judith Chiyayika, Reuben Shakachesa said he discovered that his daughter was missing from the house after his wife noticed that the house had been broken into.
Mr Shakachesa said after frantically looking for the child, he decided to go to George township police post to report the matter.
He said when he arrived at the police post, he noticed a group of people that were looking at a girl who was being taken to the hospital after being found by passersby.
Mr Shakachesa said when he arrived at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH), he found his daughter badly battered and in a pool of blood.
He said his daughter was later transferred to Levy Mwanawasa Hospital, where she underwent surgery for the multiple injuries she had suffered.
Mr Shakachesa said he later went back to the police post and asked to see the person who had been arrested in connection with the defilement and he was shown Mwila.
He said his daughter is still in hospital and has not yet recovered from the injuries and is still unable to speak.
It is alleged that Mwila broke into Mr Shakachesa’s house and stole a phone, K800 and a loaf of bread on November 16, last year.
In the second count, Mwila is alleged to have had carnal knowledge of a child under the age of 16.
In the third count, he is charged with abducting the girl in order to subject her to grievous harm.

We need psychologists in Zambia asap to help in these kinds of cases. This girl will need a lot of psychological mending. And that bugger needs a life sentence. And why is this story filed under ‘Entertainment’? There’s nothing entertaining about this story.
No sentence fits the crime this animal committed.
nomba how do they know that this mwila is the perpetrator of the crime. Kuti mwachita condemn umuntu wakaele. How was this fellow mwila arrested is what am asking in short. That aside, whoever did this, why not just steal and go your way. why touch a young girl, these types of wounds never heal. naonaula umwana. i think this criminal once convicted should be given to the parents more especially the father to deal with him as they see fit. Pantu ine, i can take pictures of my daughters condition now and paste it in my brain to fuel my constant anger not ifyakwa yesu forgiveness. then everyday, i can be cutting off small pieces of flesh. i would do thisas many times as the number of days it took my daughter to heal of the physical wounds. then finally cut off his pe^!s surgically so he…
….that he doesnt die, then his nuts. I would kill the dude like the guy in law abiding citizen. We cant do this to our children. Umwana tewakwikatako ba pompwe imwe.

As long as president Lungu continues pardoning defilers like General Kanene and other criminals, these high profiles cases wont reduce in Zambia. It will take serious presidential material like HH to change the way the country should be run. HH 2016
I’ll kill the bastard and kill who ever paroles him.
Its a pity someone who is supposed to a father to the girl like Mwila, can cause all that harm to a young girl. Let the court deal with his case with SPEED & ACCURACY. Mwila’s best place shud be Chimbokaila. Pliz! Wen convicted, let him not bribe prison authorities nor govt officials to be betrayed that he reformed so that wen he is out, he continues to defile innocent girls. Cage him. He is an *****.
