Lwandamina banking on Katongo and Chansa for CHAN glory

Share

George Lwandamina says Christopher Katongo and Isaac Chansa should add some much-needed experience at the CAF African Nations Championship(CHAN) for Zambia.

Zanaco midfielder Chansa and Green Buffaloes striker Katongo return to the big stage of African football over ten months after they were axed from the Zambia fold by ex-coach Honour Janza.

The 2012 Africa Cup winning duo are expected to headline Zambia’s CHAN team at the tournament Rwanda will host from January 16 to February 7.

“They were roped in to bring in experience. They won the AFCON where Chris was the captain and moreover he is still actively playing with Green Buffaloes,” Lwandamina said.

“We thought they should bring in their experience and so far the interaction with the young players has been overwhelming.

“They have vast knowledge in terms of tournaments and they have been to four tournaments and have lots to share.”

Meanwhile, Zambia left for a four-day training camp in South Africa on Friday morning where they will play Angola on Sunday in a pre-CHAN friendly.

Zambia are in Group D at CHAN alongside Zimbabwe, Uganda and Mali whom they will play on January 19, 23 and 27 respectively.

  1. Fuseki ifyabupuba you’re interested in winning instead of developing young local players even the two players are f00ls to accept the call up they’l be laughing stock at the tournament, Kalu and his minnows are a disappointment what are u trying to achieve by including tunkote Kalu was one of the pipo who advocated 4 that tournament but he’s forgotten its objective

    • Hm, you sound like a frustrated lot. Stop the anger and rage before you get chocked. Calm down, smile and enjoy life. You have a family to take care of.

  2. Experienced players bring confidence and moral in the team. That is the reason big coaches like mourinho keep bringing back old players like drogbs into teams. Good luck and all the best brother chicken George

  3. Wow my prayer has been answered I love Chris so much though him being wrong like most of us do and God forgives us! He deserves to be back in the National Team! Long live Christopher Katongo
