Chief Government Spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili has said that Minister of Local Government and Housing Stephen Kampyongo did not direct the council to demolish people’s houses.

Commenting on the houses demolished, the minister said that Government was saddened by the demolition of houses in Kitwe’s Mufuchani area by the Kitwe City Council.

“It must be noted that at no point did the Hon. Minister of Local Government and Housing direct the council to demolish people’s houses but to stop any further construction of structures in the area,”he said.

“What is even more regrettable is that the council took this action in the middle of the rainy season. This action is not only unacceptable but inhuman and demeaning to the affected families,”he said.

He said Government was aware of the rampant illegal land allocation by some council officials at Kitwe City Council and will not allow such desperate attempts to cover-up their illegal dealings.

Mr Kambwili said that during his visit to the City, Local Government and Housing Minister Stephen Kampyongo discovered that the council had been allocating land in the area illegally.

He said Government directive to the Kitwe City Council to immediately find accommodation for the affected families as the local authority looks for alternative land for the people.

  1. KAMBWILI KAMBWILI MWAICE, WHY DO YOU ACT AS A STERLING IN ALL WHEN MINISTERS ARE THERE TO ANSWER FOR THEMSELVES? IS IT BECAUSE ELECTIONS ARE CLOSER? NA MUVAULA KALE, MWATENA. THIS TIME IS NO TIME OF DEFENDING WHEN YOU HAVE REALISED THAT YOU HAVE OFFENDED PEOPLE. YOURS IS TO CONTINUE ON WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND 11 AUGUST PEOPLE WILL CHARGE OR JUDGE YOUR PERFORMANCE AS A PARTY SIMPLE.

    • Bandit Kambwili,

You’re the most useful tribalists the state has ever witnessed by your fallacy of abomination to Jesus Christ. Bringing Jesus into PF lunacy is hypocrisy of the highest rank. Remind your fellow PF nincompoop & tribalists like Davis Chama Chamapinduzi that visionless followers of Lungu only have 4 months left at being FLUSHED out of rigged power.
More Pressure is on PF, elo lwanya!

      Viva UPND & HH.

    • Kambiwili said that he didnt refer to the people of Southern Province as being tribal…!!!!
Kambwili must explain this part in his interview (Source Post edition 12 Jan,2016 ,09:28:07)
“This particular region, one Davies Chama just said, ‘For political party ‘B’ to form government, they must first marry so many women’. There was a meeting for the entire tribe Chuundu Chaitwa, everybody come! That is dangerous. I am not maligning, I believe in calling a spade a spade. The way they are doing politics they can set this country on fire,” he (Kambwili) said.

      Checkmate!!

    • Am PF but on this one ba Kambwili you’re wrong. Lusaka Times:MINISTER of Local Government and Housing Stephen Kampyongo has directed the Kitwe City Council (KCC) to raze structures that some residents have illegally constructed across the Kafue River in Mufuchani area. He said the local authority should address the problem of illegality across Mufuchani Bridge before the situation gets out of hand.“We cannot have this. This has to come down. The council should immediately demolish these illegal structures,” said Mr Kampyongo when he toured Mufuchani Bridge, which is nearing completion. He said Government is not against the idea of people owning land but it is important that the right procedures are followed by all citizens when acquiring land.“We shall give plots normally when the area is…

    • That was being inhuman for PF, chikambwili and chikampyongo to demolish their houses during the rain season. Its really sad seeing my parents crying that…

    • So Kambwili is confessing that Kapyango is a useless minister because drastic things are being done under his nose without his knowledge. How bizzare!

So according to Kambwili if its not Dishon. Kapyango then who instructed the council?

All the people on the ground know that nothing is done without Lungu ‘s knowledge. Its common knowledge that those those houses were demolished with the blessing of all PF top officials; Lungu, area MP and the President himself.

PF is now panicking after hurting people so badly that they vowed never to vote for any PF minion in 2016.

We I say no need for UPND to campaign in CB because PF itself is already doing a very good job for HH team.

Only UPND will save Zambia from the brink of catastrophe and restore real peace and harmony.

      Viva…

    • PF what is it that you are getting right at this pointing time? The economy is bearing surviving in Kitwe and now you are demolishing houses in the same city. The councilors you are referring to belongs to your party, a center of corruption, why not discipline them if you are serious about the matter.

  2. Hon. Kambwili thinks he has a duty to answer on behalf of other ministers. I think Hon. Kambwili is very dull, he still says Zambia is load shedding because of low rainfall. And he justifies that the all region is load shedding because of low rainfall. He doesn’t know that 95% of electricity in South Africa is coal driven generation so is Botswana. If South Africa is passing through the same problem(low rainfall) with Zambia why would south Africa want to be exporting power to Zambia? Mr. Kambwili and other ministers should read a Report on Load Shedding by the Engineering Institution of Zambia so that they stop blaming God for low rainfall. How dull can Mr. Kambwili be: He could have let Hon. Yaluma who is electrical engineer and he had worked for ZESCO to speak on Load shedding…

  3. Musuka has continued his trade mark with the local authority despite being retired. Please leave the young men alone so that they can do a honorable work for the people.

  4. Kambwili shifting blame as usual. It all demonstrates the current regime’s failure. When shall we learn to be accountable?

  5. Please give us a break! This quest for power at all costs is getting out of hand…. Kampyongo was very clear about stopping illegal land allocation and settlements…. Maybe you can apologize about the timing of the demolition exercise but not about its legality!

  6. So then what is the use of a City Council if it will be getting directives all the time? Even if the Council was directed, they needed to meet and deliberate on that directive and then put up measures to humanely carry out such a directive. Trouble is the Councils are also infested with major mediocrity!

  7. oh my ..whenever this neckless man opens his stinky mouth..its all messed up..does he think before he talks..?shameless liar..tame this heartless man..pf …

  8. Vimbwili, when are you going to re- house these poor homeless citizens in your many houses, including your Goat grazing illegally acquired golf club???
I ask coz you come across as “Very Concerned” Mr dull belly politician!

  9. Find out the person behind all this mess and deal with him/her or else keep your tongue inside your chicks because all this drib drab you are talking about is just hot air.

  10. Kampyongo let power go to his head and like a lunatic General let loose, started giving orders that would impact on people’s lives like they did not matter. Typical PF, act now and think later. That’s why we are having all these u-turns at every decision made.

  11. If officials broke the law in allocating those plots then the building on thus land was also unlawful. Unfortunately in law a thief is just as guilty as the one who buys or acquires what was stolen. For that reason, as inhuman as the demolition was, it actually was correct in law. However being in Africa it maybe could be handled better where it is clear gov’t officials acted corruptly. Maybe temporary accommodation should have been arranged. Unfortunately it’s important to take strong action to stop thus wide illegal act in Zambia of Land theft or wrongful acquirement of other people’s property.

  12. Demolishing people’s houses on a wrong order is a very serious lapse which should have ordinarily made Chimbwili froth at the mouth and order some form of punishment for the erring council officials. The cost of the mistake, if Chimbwili is to be believed, is so huge that the heads of all the top brass at the local authority would have rolled ‘with immediate effect.’ By the minister’s standards, he comes out almost apologetic, something very uncharacteristic of him. Therefore, this is just a cover up, the instruction to raze the structures was indeed given.

  13. Whatever these PF guys are doing should not surprise anybody. Sata at one point clearly stated that his ministers were useless. And these are the people in charge of the country’s destination. There is pandemonium in everything they do, no one seems to know what they are doing. Giving them another 5 years we will be worse than Zimbabwe. We need leaders who can plan ahead and who have the interest of the country at heart not just interested in fattening their pockets and looking like Zoo occupants.
