Jack Mwiimbu
Leading opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema has dispelled reports that the UPND has settled for Monze MP Jackie Mwiimbu as his presidential running mate.
In a Facebook posting, Mr Hichilema described the reports in the Daily Mail that the party has resolved that Mr Mwiimbu runs as Vice President in the August 11 elections as false.
Mr Hichilema said, “Ordinarily, we would be very reluctant to react to falsehoods being peddled by our friends especially those based on malice with intentions to divide our people. Lately, we have seen several articles in the discredited Zambia Daily Mail quoting fictitious sources that we have settled for Monze MP Jackie Mwiimbu as the running mate to President Hakainde Hichilema.”
He said in normal journalism it would have been expected that a media house of Zambia Daily Mail’s level will at least attempt to be professional by getting a response from the party’s official Spokesperson or indeed the MP being mentioned and balance the story.
“We wish to state that the stories being peddled have no truth whatsoever and if Daily Mail has any integrity they would immediately retract and correct the wrong impression being created,” he said.
He warned that the levels of desperation in the opponents and their abuse of public media is really sad and actually dangerous for the country.
“We must therefore ignore and dismiss the Daily Mail falsehoods with the contempt they deserve. May we also take this opportunity to advise our members to ignore imaginary statements the public media like the Zambia Daily Mail and some discredited online platforms and individuals will be peddling with increasing intensity as we approach the general election. The UPND is a very organized party and as such all major communications will always be through the official Spokesperson.”

People ike Chama, Bwakya and Kambwili would NEVER accept a defeat.
I think in UPND, there is little democracy and – after he loses (not if) he should really still remain their presdeint in 2021.
It will be slighlt closer but Lungu will win, albeit narrowly.
It is refreshing that, Chipimo has asked to join UPND as an MP, and if this is tru HH should try and ask Miles to join him equally, if there is anythign hope of some kind.
I have never been wrong – probably being of my 6 toes on my left foot, and dating a whiteman but ofcourse UPND is taking on PF+MMD who are literraly one party.
Remember who told you first, the accurancy of my prediction, whilest wearing a PhD hat which I am now confirmed for graduation in June 2016.

HH you are missing the point Sir. What we want is to provide a good candidate to challenge Edgar Lungu. You are not that type of person. Jack should stand as presidential candidate with Dr. Banda. You need to step aside Sir otherwise UPND will not win this election.

The problem with journalists is not only those in public media but their quality and training. No “A” student ever dreamt of becoming a journalist. People drop into journalism when all doors in higher education are closed. It shows even with online media.
UPND should think about why the lost an election to a nonentity, chakolwa, kaminamisa, jameson,.This guy was unknown . But he won the election against our own HH who has been losing since longtime ago.

@Buck Teeth Lungu, Your assertion is true of Zambian journalists only. Otherwise I have interacted with journalists from other countries who are university graduates. Some have a degree in say political science, economics, etc and then take another qualification in journalism. When they are talking or conducting an interview they are really solid. You cannot compare them with the raw Zambian ‘journalists’.

To be fair, Hichilema said “all major communications” (such as the announcement of his running mate) and what he has said above hardly falls into that category. So there is no contradiction.

Honestly….. Jack is more deserving than GBM and Sata’s Doctor Banda. If he is not picked it will because HH has succumbed to the tribal propaganda. He needs GBM and Dr. Banda to appear to have a national character. By passing Jack for such reasons itself is being tantamount to encouraging tribalism. To speak for Zambians who have fallen in love with the PF and Edgar C Lungu to move on as victory is certain and sure. We as majority in this country have greater influence on the voters than the minority who claim victory from dark clouds. I really support ECL for considering Dr Nevers S Mumba as running mate in the forthcoming 2016 national elections. Edgar C Lungu will amass 69% of the votes and the remaining 31% will be shared amongst the opposition.
Tribal and regional political parties to be phased out of the scene as new constitution is now in full force in this country. Showers of shame shall continue haunting you all the days of your life.

uPMD cadres, your guess about Nevers becoming running mate for Edgar is totally wrong, as usual of course. You see the mistake that you make is to think that the majority of people think like yourselves, or that they are after positions like in uPMD. Look at the constitutional debate in parliament, MMD supported PF because they believe they wanted a new constitution which they have always wanted since 2011, and not because Dr Mumba will be given the position of vice or whatever. Just principles are sufficient for MMD to support a good cause.
In the picture above, I see fear of Jack Mwiimbu by HH, he looks really cowed. It probably explains the categorical statement by HH that he will not tolerate the idea of Jack as running mate. And yet Jack Mwiimbu is actually more presidential…
