Opposition MMD leader Dr Nevers Mumba has clarified that the party has not yet entered into any electoral pact with any political party ahead of the August 11 polls.
Dr Mumba has since advised both the MMD and the UPND to desist from claiming that they will be in a pact for this year’s polls.
He said the MMD is yet to make a decision on whether to enter into a pact or not.
Dr Mumba however stated that the amended constitution will compel political players to start talking to each other with possibilities of working together.
The MMD leader said the decision to enter into a pact will ultimately be decided by the party’s leadership after extensive consultation with the general membership.
He was speaking Friday morning when he phoned in to the Hot FM Red Hot Breakfast Show which was discussing reports of a possible MMD-PF pact.
Dr Mumba reiterated that President Edgar Lungu has personally and publicly stated his willingness to work with the MMD.
He said the MMD will only go into a pact with any party if that decision will result in the betterment of Zambian people’s living standards.
Mumba is not steable, MUMBA should look at the interest of a poor child who is right now suffering at the expense Lungus lack of vision. if at all this man is still a pastor.
This is the party that once was, and is not.
Please MMD and PF go ahead and form your alliance so that both of you can history. This man (Dr Mumba) has no integrity. HH’s team will still win. I think so.

This news is not consistent because it is not reflective of what is obtaining on the ground. We have not read anywhere where UPND said that they have written for an alliance request with MMD. Ofcourse in 2001 Mazoka, Gen Tembo, Brig Gen Miyanda and et’el sent him to negotiate with Levy but the man of God came out from State House with a flag flying and appointed VEEP. With Nevers any part has to trend softly.

This is a defining moment for the man of God. Being the most sought-after man and the gamechanger, seek divine intervention and tread carefully. You have had your high and low moments in your political career. This may be God’s second chance to reinstate you as a VP and thereafter to the top seat. Last January you were among the most disgraced candidates and a year later you are on top again. Do not take it for granted. Weigh your options keeping the interest of the ordinary Zambian at heart. All the same, imwe ba Mumba you have no direction of your own no wonder Lungu can even announce that you’ll go into a pact with MMD before and without informing you OFFICIALLY. Its not even a Man-Prostitute relationship, it is a Dog-handler relationship where the handler knows where he will take the dog and when the dog will be fed. Mumba is just Lungu’s shadow and as such has no say on pact or no pact. Remember in the January 2015 elections.
UPND has never claimed any alliance with MMD. UPND can’t trust Nevers…remember he was sent by Mazoka et al to Levy in 2002 and the rest is history!

Nevers Mumba has no control over his party. The real kingmakers will be individual Members of Parliament in the MMD. It is a well know fact that the MMD MPs from Western, North western and part of Central province will join UPND. Those from Northern, Luapula and Eastern province will no doubt join PF. Nevers is in a very weak position and does not command any authority.
