The recently launched Orange Alliance has dismissed assertions that it is tribal.
Alliance Spokesperson Eric Chanda says to the contrary, the three political parties that form part of the alliance draw their memberships from the different provinces and diverse tribes.
Mr Chanda adds that the Alliance has also made it clear that its doors remain open to new members regardless of one’s tribe.
He states that the Alliance will therefore not be distracted by any negativity from anyone.
Mr. Chanda further states that the Alliance has been formed to redeem the people of Zambia.
On Tuesday, National Revolution Party (NRP) president Cosmo Mumba charged that Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa was a disgrace to Bembas because he had undermined their unity by employing divisive tendencies among them for forming the Democratic Front (DF) to split their loyalty to the PF.
Dr. Mumba said Mr. Sampa’s move to launch the controversial DF was retrogressive and that his motives to divide the Bembas showed that he was a political amateur who did not understand what politics was about.
He said Mr. Sampa’s desperation would cost the country dearly as Zambians would be robbed of national unity and development if a different party came into government as it would never continue with the PF’s developmental agenda as it would be a trial version government.
He said Mr. Sampa should be ashamed of himself for engaging in tribal politics by thinking that he was proving a point to the PF but dismantling its strongholds by using his tribe and former president Michael Sata’s legacy.
“Sampa is a political amateur who does not understand that his actions to form a party in order to divide the Bemba vote have huge effects on the future and development of the country.

Ok, lets say UPND wants to join the Orange alliance, what position is HH who has the largest opposition party in Zambia will he hold since all key positions have been taken away? How about nevers mumba and Nawakwi? It is very clear that these guys are dreaming of riding on other party’s backs because they failed to sell their tuntemba parties and themselves. If they were genuine they would have fromed the alliance and act as interim leaders and say the final leaders and presidential and veep candidates will be finalised or elected later. then they would have lobbied backstage so that they are maybe elected ahead of leaders with key opposition parties. What Cosmo Mumba is saying is that PF is a Bemba party. His National Revolution Party is also a Bemba Party. Finally the Orange Alliance is also a Bemba entity. It is because of this that he feels the Bemba vote will be divided. This is an admission that certain parties are for Bembas and people from other tribes should keep them at arm’s length.
I can only imagine the he’ll that would be paid if 3 high profile or popular tongas or lozis or luvales or kaondes formed this alliance ma ma ma ma ka fake bwalya would go bezerk slaughtering a 1000 chickens blood everywhere. Bembas have always been tribalists. Just look at Sata’s appointments. It is a Bemba forest.
If HH won elections today, I am sure more than half the appointments will come from Tongas. The reason is simple, Tongas form the core of the party. Nearly all cabinet Ministers will be Tonga. We always work with those we know. Unless a Party President advertises for positions in the media – half the time will be friends. That is just the nature of our politics. Sata went for his friends and tribesmen. In fact most of these tuma parties (including PF) discuss tribes in the dark corners.
The orange alliance can’t win the August election but can Make PF loose.

I think Miles is young, cultured, travelled and educated and wouldn’t want to be associated with Bemba this, Tonga this, Lozi this etc. He has a broader perspective of development than tribe, so Mr Mumba remain with your medieval supremacist agenda which does not put food on people’s plates.
What a self contradiction? On the one hand, Sampa is a political nonetity and has no effect to PF and UPND is a tribal party. On the other hand, Sampa will cost the leadeship of PF and divide the “bemba” vote. Why preach water and drink wine? Moreover, claiming that the Orange alliance is open to all does not make it untribal as long as majority of it’s officials are tribesmen. Let us be frank that we are dealing with politics of propaganda, mudslinging and defamation and we should not reject a similar feedback from our opponents. Nevertheless we should be wary of resorting into a tribal/civil war.
well written my brother, people have been smearing tribalism on other tribes but the fact is that bembas are the worst tribalisst in this country. and a lot of them voted for the pf becacuse it was founded by bembas and its a bemba party
when bembas stop tribalism and join the fight against tribalism, then this country will be united but as long as bembas maintain their superiority complex and continue insulting and demeaning other tribes, i dont see unity in this country.
@Toma, you are either young or you do not read much. Miles is very much tribal. He is the one who, in parliament, said that for Tongas to produce a president, they should marry a lot of Bemba girls. After this, the going was very hard for him as provincial minister- southern province. The old dictator had to remove him at once from there for his own safety.
Why are you all morons pretending? We all inclined to parties based on tribe now. Unless you sitting in Canada and you have never been to Zambia in last 10 years or so. Most people from Eastern are now more PF because the current president is from their region. Luapula, Mchinga and Northern provinces are more PF based on the party history and Tribe. Sourthern , Western and North West are UPND strong holds for same reasons. Lets not fool our selves our politics now are MORE tribal than anything. Period!!
