United Party for National Development (UPND) has denied ever publishing a calendar bearing a Picture of Lunte Member of Parliament (MP) Felix Mutati and listing him as a UPND official.
Responding to reports that Mutati has instructed his lawyer to commence legal action against UPND, party spokesperson Charles Kakoma distanced UPND from the publication of the calendar and advised Mr Mutati to sue the publisher.
Mr Kakoma said the UPND has never produced such kind of a calendar.
“We have not produced any calendar of that type. Perhaps some enterprising people decided to do so to make money. Honourable Mutati can sue the publisher because the contacts and addresses are on the calendar,” he said.
Yesterday Mr Mutati instructed his lawyer to commence legal action against UPND for allegedly using his image on the party calendar without his consent.
Speaking during a press briefing, Mr Mutati said the publication of his picture on the UPND calendar has caused a lot of damage to him.
“I never consented that my image be used on a UPND calendar and as such, I have instructed my lawyer Sakwiba Sikota so that he deals with this issue with the publisher and the UPND,” he said.
Mr Mutati said his image, which is appearing on a UPND calendar, is one of the reasons why the MMD national executive committee (NEC) expelled him from the party.

UPND did not refute the story about Mutati being a part of their new team when the story broke. But now that Mr Mutati has been expelled from MMD and therefore incapable of handing MMD to HH on a silver platter, the story suddenly is untrue. I think Mutati and HH thought Nevers Mumba will just roll on his back like a little puppy and give in to their bullying. Sorry mates. Too little too late!
UPND politics and campaigns continue to show serious traits of distress with disfunctional sublevel tactics. Six times still counting of dismal performance in elections, the tactics remain even worse sublevel. Do some people really don’t just learn? Could it be an issue of the quality of our UNZA education system or nature of the species being considering their claim that it’s a party of the educated? There is no thought leadership in this record of perenial humiliated balot deeats of flyers by night politicians of the “some of us Groupthink”. I presume change in UPND leadership can inject some missing dynamism come 2021.
Defeat after defeat with all these subnormal tactics, yet not learning any thing from usual mistakes. Still busy swimming in utopia of imaginary national popularity that they can win national elections. Thank God for President Chagwa a setvant leader anointed to serve God’s people in unity.
And @ Senior Citizen with all due respect is happy with power standard of living that the PF has bestowed upon Zambians. Facts are that Edgar Lungu has been the worst president. In his 12 months inflation has trebled, he has sold maize at a cheaper price and importing at twice the cost he sold, his utterances and his policy inconsistencies have led to massive job loses. This calendar started come out in Luaplula last year arround September/October and it was in high demand. I saw one and believe me no credible printer can produce such poor quality. It was back garden work that was done by a creative artists who reaped big time based on demand that the calender attracted in Luapula. I doubt, UPND was at the centre of this poor quality calendar. However, the publisher should have seek permission from the party before producing the calendar but like anything illegal it goes without consultation. Yesterday, I was taken aback when I saw images of our Republican President on social media with Jonathan Oppenheimer, a great grandson of Ernest Oppenheimer, founder of the famous Anglo American Corporation. For the last 15 years, we have heard claims by the named opposition political party that the Oppenheimer family are among its major financiers.

Following slump in both commodity demand and prices, we have heard ramblings from their quarters claiming that Anglo, which has closed a lot of mines across the globe and retrenched over 100,000 employees, would come and rescue our Mining industry only when the said opposition is voted into power.
Against this backdrop, I found it imperative to probe both the claims by the said opposition of its relationship with this mining giant and the implications of Mr. Oppenheimer’s visit to State House.
THE ALLEGED RELATIONSHIP
In politics, it is common place for political players to drop names so as to give an impression that they are significant. Hence you see pictures taken with heads of foreign Missions or at public forums with people perceived to be important of influential flood the…
Is there any relationship with the family in question and the said opposition? The only known relationship is with employees of the Oppenheimer family such as former Journalist Greg Mills and a Dickson Ncube. Greg Mills runs Breinthurst Foundation, a charity wing of the Oppenheimer whose Patron is President Obasanjo. Suffice to say the only connection which is there is with employees of the company in question and not necessarily with the owners of the Company. We leave it there.

Images on a calendar should not be a basis of creating divisions in parties.There are issues that can divide the party apart from images on a calendar. Only a dumb person can believe that this poor quality calendar was printed by UPND. This calendar could have been printed by any overzealous persons for their own reasons. As for Mumba and his NEC to have used this to expel Mutati shows how bankrupt they are of reasons or ideas on how to get rid of him over a calendar that could have easily been printed at Soweto Market. This Calendar was being distributed at UPND Rallies when GBM and HH visited Luanshya and Chingola . I saw this calendar as DECEIT and bears the hallmarks of UPND Politics . Today they are aggressively pushing for the Constitution. The next day they are against the same clauses they were pushing for. Today they accuse William Tekele Banda as being a Violent Person , the next day the same Tekere is made Presidential Advisor. Today they claim not to be a Tribal Party , the following day they call a Tribal Meeting under the Auspices of Chuundu Chaitwa. They go SA and show how incompetent they are by saying they only now discovered that no miners should have been sent home as the copper price/tone had not reached the trigger price as laidout in the contract……..
