MMD president Nevers Mumba says his party’s focus is to prepare itself adequately ahead of the August 11th general elections. And Dr. Mumba said the details of the proposed alliance will only be made public after modalities and discussions are done.

Speaking when he featured on Christian Voice Radio yesterday, Dr. Mumba said his preoccupation was to make the MMD strong in preparation for the general election. He said his party believed in democracy and good governance for sustainable development hence the need for the people of Zambia to bring back the former ruling party.

Dr. Mumba in answering some people who question his involvement in politics as a Christian said he wanted to bring morality and integrity to the leadership and the way politics should be done in the country. Dr. Mumba said he was the light to the darkness, adding that Zambian politics have to change.

And Dr. Mumba said it was erroneous for some people to suggest he is only interested in being running mate to someone else. He said he is also a potential candidate for the Zambian presidency. He said the MMD is considering two people to be his running mate.

He said MMD was continuing its programs as normal even as modalities and discussions of a possible alliance with the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) were under way.

“NEC asked me to meet President Lungu over the invitation to work with the PF and see how it can be done. MMD and PF are two different political parties and we are yet to discuss,” He said.

Dr. Mumba also revealed his massive country wide mobilisation plan with the visit for Eastern Province in the coming few days on the cards.

“I am from Northern and Central Province where we have been encouraging our members to remain steadfast and support the leadership. In the next few days we will be going to Eastern province for a similar mobilisation programme.”

Dr. Mumba also said he was not going to be petty concerning the governance of the nation by expressing bitterness against the police action to teargas an MMD meeting last year, saying Zambia was bigger than himself.

    • You right, this “man of God” cant be trusted. I wont be surprised if he pulls out of this “PF-MMD alliance” now that he knows that the position is only available to a woman candidate..

    • Nevers Mumba is doomed. He still thinks Rupiah can forget what he (Nevers) put him through so early. RB has Dora in mind for Lungu’s running mate. Mumba must not think that Zambians are stupid to expect him to bring back MMD into power. 2016 will be the final people of Zambia will hear about MMD. Nevers and MMD are dead!

    • Ba Mumba balatekunya ichalo mwee!! Former running mate is now looking for two running mates!!!!kikikikikiki!!! Nganine kuti nafileka.

  1. Just waiting for that moment – and it’s coming soon -when Nevers will announce that there will be no alliance. Lungu’s announcement of female running mate has hammered Nevers hard.

  2. What drama! Can Mumba dream of winning the elections when all shows that he has failed to organise his party. MMD is nothing but a shell. There are no numbers there remaining. He further destroyed it by aligning himself PF. Now that its clear bo maInonge is the running mate, he sounds disappointed. Bane, umuntu ni HH and all problems ill be sorted out.

  3. …what alliance is he taking about..??..when his friends will soon be adopting MPs aspirants without any term of reference to the pact….unless he means PF swallowing up MMDEAD…because by now PF should have chosen where they will field MP and leave other areas for MMDEAD…

  4. aba bena kuwayawaya fye niba muselela kwakaba.
since lungu’s running mate will be woman, and mumba wants to be a running mate to lungu then let him go for surgery and his man wood be removed and replaces it with ………. kikikiki.
the best way he should have done is to step down and pave way for people with viable leadership plans.

  5. There has never been an alliance between MMD and PF. The talks have never even taken place. Edgar text Mumba, NEC asked Mumba to find out Edgar has to offer. Decisions on whether to have an alliance with PF can only be made when Mumba has found out. Unfortunately most bloggers fail to read between the line. PLEASE MMD has not decided to go into an alliance with the PF. WHat if they went with UPND?

    • What u have just described is called Gold Digging/UNASHAMED OPPORTUNISM. Looking for what party X (in this case PF) has to offer in an alliance! If the offer is not good then try UPND! Offer TO WHO? Nevers’ MMD or ZAMBIAN people. We need to STOP this type of BELLY politics & expose these MEN OF GOLD! POLITICS SHOULD BE ABOUT IDEALS, SERVICE, PRINCIPLES PINCIPLES & PRINCIPLES NOT deals for cuts/ positions to maximise advantages on the gravy train of the ruling party or prospective ruling party. NEVER’S MMD NEED TO ANSWER WHETHER HE BELIEVES IN THE IDEALS/PRINCIPLES/MGT OF PF OR UPND IN THE BEST INTEREST OF ZAMBIAN PEOPLE/VOTERS. LOSE OR WIN HE SHOULD STAND FOR WHAT HE BELIEVES is best for ZED NOT what he hopes to get out the alliance for himself! He is no different from RB who is…

  6. We should pray for the alliance especially that we dont know what is in the second part of scrumble for Africa which HH signed with diplomats. Kenyans said no, zimbabwens despite mugabe being old said no. Tanzanians said no. Ugandans have also said no. Zambians register as voters to defend our country from whites

  7. Mumba , Chama Chakomboka, Mulyokela and that confused candidate who came from Chilenje are in the same league….COMEDIANS!!

  8. You will swallow your words with yo negative view of Dr Mumba. God has the final say! Long Live you so that you can witness yo disappointments!
