I was feeling like a healthy breakfast today; so I decided to go for a healthy and filling ham and cheese omelette and a mug of green tea with honey. What I love about omelettes is how you can throw virtually anything into them; from peppers, tomatoes, spinach and onions to bacon, ham, tuna and cheese. You can’t go wrong with an omelette and I for one absolutely love them. So unless you hate eggs or are allergic to eggs, then you should definitely try this fast, easy and simple ham and cheese omelette.

Preparation & Cooking: 15 minutes

Serves: 1

Ingredients

  • 3 free-range eggs
  • 10g unsalted butter
  • 30g of cheddar cheese
  • 1 thick slice of ham, finely chopped
  • ¼ of an onion, chopped
  • salt and black pepper

Method

Gently beat the eggs together in a mixing bowl and season, to taste, with salt and pepper.

In a pan heat the butter until melted. Pour in the eggs and cook for a few seconds, until the bottom of the omelette is lightly set but the omelette is still soft in the centre.

Put the cheese and most of the ham in the centre of the omelette and cook until the cheese has melted.  Increase the heat to high and cook the omelette for a further 30 seconds, or until it browns on the bottom.

Fold the omelette in half, then remove the pan from the heat and tilt it slightly to move the omelette to the edge of the pan. Slide the omelette onto a serving plate and sprinkle over the remaining ham.

Serving

Remember that you can add any other ingredients to your omelette, try throwing in a handful of spinach or spring onions as well to boost the health value. Serve with a hot mug of green tea of freshly squeezed orange juice.

  1. This is too unhealthy for me…chesse and pork or pork on its own is a big no for me..a plain omelette will simply do for me!
