The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) officers in Kasama were yesterday forced to work beyond the official closing hour for registration of voter’s cards due to the overwhelming number of people who turned up to seek for the document at the civic centre.
A check by ZANIS revealed that by 22 hours hundreds of people were still in long queues waiting to be registered on the last day.
Those talked to explained that they didn’t want to leave the registration centre without being issued with the document.
They further said they couldn’t manage to obtain the voters cards before because they had other things to do.
Meanwhile ECZ Provincial registration officer, Abel Siwakwi, said the number of people who turn up on the last day was too big.
He added that they had no option but to ensure everyone was registered.
Mr. Siwakwi added that the officers only concluded the exercise around 02: hours today.
Good, now prepare to remove this incompetent PF Government people of Kasama.
To the contrary people of kasama can’t vote for upnd just like mapatizya for Pf.

hahaha, looks like we have novices here who do not understand election psychology. The only time people rush to register to vote is if they want a change of government. If they were happy with your PF it would have been a repeat of January 2015 where these areas had massive voter apathy. Now that hunger has nudged at their stomachs they are rushing to ensure these guys are removed. Comfort yourself all you want about this stronghold business but remember this, UPND has won a ward in Kasama and I have a feeling the same people who voted in that ward will also vote again. My friend, no reasonable person today will spend his precious night on the queue to register in order to vote for ECL and PF. there is simply no need for such sacrifice because after that you go home and sleep on empty stomach due to high mealie mealie prices. Ever since I was born, I have traveled around the country and i have never seen anybody who feed on tribalism.Let those who are still obsessed by the vice live with it but the truth on the ground is that people are changing because they are hungry, they fed up with the PF lies and are currently anxiously looking forward to change of government. I am constrained not to disagree with you. UPND are yet to master the topography of Zambia’s political map. Their huge investment in the north could have been better served elsewhere. It’s all a profitability issue akin to expecting America’s deep South to suddenly vote democratic! And yet UPND appear increasingly less convinced to buy into this kind of nonsensical thinking of mine. They are determined to prove the impossible.
UPND must start preparations to elect a new leader that will contest in 2021 elections. The high turn out for restration in Kasama is killer punch to UPND.
People are very appreciative of the massive development in Northern Province and Kasama in particular. There is no loadshedding there and solar mealie meal has cheered many. It’s 200% turn out and vote for President Lungu in Northern and Luapula Provinces.
