POLICE in Lusaka yesterday continued the search at United Party for National Development (UPND) vice-president for administration Geoffrey Mwamba’s premises on Luanshya Road, where suspected trainee militias were arrested last Saturday.

Police also found seven machetes, a pistol, one golf stick and several catapults during the earlier search.

Police spokesperson Charity Chanda said in an interview that police officers were compelled to execute the search warrant and entered the premises after Mr Mwamba’s lawyers failed to show up as earlier agreed with the police.

Mrs Chanda said the decision to search Mr Mwamba’s premises for the second time was because there were some rooms that police could not access because they were locked.

“We agreed yesterday with Mr Mwamba’s legal team to conduct a search at his premises on Luanshya Road at 15:00 hours. Unfortunately, they did not show up and police started the search after 17:00 hours because they have a search warrant,” she said.

Mrs Chanda said police also contacted Mr Mwamba, who promised that he would unlock the rooms upon his return from the Copperbelt.

UPND spokesperson Charles Kakoma described the search as “Illegal and a break-in”.

Mr Kakoma said the UPND has obtained a restraining order, which police have allegedly defied.

He further said the UPND legal team objected to the continued search because police have been camping at the premises since Saturday.

A check at the premises around 18:45 hours found heavy presence of police officers in riot gear keeping vigil while Luanshya Road was closed to the public.

  1. PF police is F00lish! ati 7 machetes, one pistol, one golf stick and several catapults!!!! damn!!
the machets: are used by GBM´s gardeners,, the pistol: is a toy gun,,,, Golf stick: GBM used to play golf a long time ago or its for his grandchildren,,,, the catapults are for killing birds when GBM and HH are relaxing and kachema-ing at HH`s farms….. ati training militia,,, very stup!d

These PF police are forgetting that PF cadres were caught with 21 Pangas is a mini bus very recently

    • “He further said the UPND legal team objected to the continued search because police have been camping at the premises since Saturday”
Very good point. It’s very likely the “residents” at the premises, the incompetent police, have planted implicating weapons to try and get at GBM. For fcksakes!!!

    • So GBM made Sata, ECL win elections. So if HH wins he’ll say he made HH win. HH be careful. I am sure each of the 21 carders have been interviewed separately and each one has told a story. We only need to wait and see. if the training was legit i.e they were there as individual gym members the picture will come out, its that easy.

  2. There is time for everything under the face of the earth. Those who abuse power would one day account for their actions.
The police are being abused to suppress Lungu’s opponents. Who can can train a militia with 7 machetes, 1 pistol, and a golf club? This is complete madness and foolishness on the part of those who are giving commands.

  3. Iwe kambwanga. why shouldn’t police camp at a site of scene? Walipena. Why is fat albeit afraid to have his property searched?

    • Why did the police not show UPND the search warrant the day they arrested those boys and found those advanced military weapons ? why call UPND the next day and say we have a search warrant, can you come now, what were they doing all alone there ?
who can trust these PF police ?

  4. Political insecurity at play. I have never been a fan of GBM but now I am slowly liking the great bag of mataba.

    • Police has done great job in promoting GBM political credential at the huge cost to “impartiality” and “professionalism” of Zambian police

  5. Pf police at work.. Just give zambians clean politics..Pf is gasping , will collapse on 11 / 8, certified dead and buried on 12/8.

  6. Fat albert is not afraid. Its Kadansa who’s afraid. He can’t comprehend life after Nkwazi house & the free Jameson that comes along with it.
250 people being trained in defensive & offensive tactics with 1 pistol, 1 spear, 1 golf stick, 7 pangas & catapults. Well why not just say they are being trained in witchcraft, it might sound reasonable.

    • The police only found the catapults, which are useless without stones!!. The police have since filled the other rooms with stones hence their insistence to search. No golf balls were found either, so they must be looking for golf balls.

  7. How come kaizer was never locked up and charged with anything when intact he fired a gun in public with intention to harm!!! His house searched and all gone under the mat….bane let’s be truthful, even mighty gaddafi was not able to save himself on that day or maybe Lungu and gang never saw that…..

  8. Police also found seven machetes, a pistol, one golf stick and several catapults during the earlier search. LETS BE SERIOUS. A MILITIA GROUP, IF IT WERE, CANNOT BE FORMED OR TRAINED WITH WHAT YOU CLAIM TO BE THE WEAPONS… NOT EVEN A GROUP OF 19 MILITIA MEN CAN HAVE 7 MACHETES, 1 PISTOL, 1 GOLF STICK AND CATAPULTS AS WEAPONS…. NO case to answer here…. By the way, is that a public place were you found those domestic items?

  9. Comment:Charge Fat Albert 4 training youths in witchcraft bcz the current charge of drilling will not stand in any court of law.

  10. What the opposition is going through now pales in comparison with what ANC and U N I P went through during the independence struggle. At this rate, another term for this regime will subject the citizens with total bondage in the 21st century, when other nations are looking to better their people’s living standards. For us, it’s back to the 60’s. What a country!

  11. What is happening in Zambia?Do we have a President? Our Country is bleeding economically and we expect any serious President to concentrate in fixing the economy rather than the opposition leaders.VIVA GBM
