Lunte MMD Member of Parliament Felix Mutati has called on all genuine MMD members to speak one voice in demanding for a convention.
Speaking when he met hundreds of MMD officials and members from Central Province in Kabwe this afternoon, Mr. Mutati says if the current party President Dr. Nevers Mumba feels that the members still want him to be party president, it is important that the members make that decision at the convention in accordance with the party convention.
Mr. Mutati says he has embarked on a program of engaging party officials and members to demand for the convention after the current term expires next month.
He says party members have been sleeping while the party is dying slowly and thus the need for all members to stand up and fight for what is right.
He adds that the continued suspending and expelling members who are simply demanding for a noble thing should come to an end as this is their party constitutional right to go for a convention which is held every after five years.
Speaking at the same meeting, expelled MMD Central Province Chairman George Kangwa says MMD members in the province have endorsed that Mr. Mutati should take over the leadership of the former ruling party when the party goes to the convention next month.
I think Mr Mutati mistook MMD supporters for UPND supporters. Why don’t you, Mr Mutati, ask HH and his sheeples to hold a convention…oh wait, there is no democracy in UPND. They only have a savior!

Hon. Mutati, while your intention might be good for the MMD and Zambia, the truth is that you do not have the time. Elections are around the corner and the sooner you humble yourself and work as a team with Nevers the better for MMD. Why not go for the Vice President role through a consultative process and thereafter advance the convention post the elections. If you care about the future of MMD, it is important that you should listen to yourself, to others and make the best decission. Nevers Mumba is not a dictator. If he was, he wouldn’t have even allowed Mutati back in MMD. Some members are just silly like Mutati, they can’t accept that nevers is the boss, so they make themselves busy funding confusion, they decampaign the party, resign themselves from responsibility but when it’s time for elections they want to confuse things?
