THE Zambia police must immediately take action against the Post Newspaper for causing the publication of a forged letter addressed to the Zambia State Intelligence Services (ZSIS) to direct the institution to sign a contract with an Israeli company, Timor Consulting to help the Patriotic Front (PF) with the August general elections, Chishimba Kambwili has said.

He said the letter purported to have been authored by special assistant to the President for press and public relations to engage an imaginary Israeli consulting company was a forgery and that the police should not wait for instructions from the State to act.

Mr Kambwili said Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini dismissed the Timor Consulting letter as a forgery and Government was expecting the police to act on the matter because the Post Newspaper had continued with impunity to concoct and publish forged letters.

Mr Kambwili said there had been many complaints from Government Ministers and State House about the leaking of State secrets, and classified documents by the Post News Paper but there had been no action.

“Now that it is clear that the letter published in the Post Newspaper concerning Timor Consulting is a forgery, the police must act on the matter. The police must not wait for instructions from politicians or the State to take action against people engaged in criminal activities. It is a criminal act for one to forge a letter and the Post published a letter purported to have been authored by Amos Chanda yet the letter was a forgery meant to scandalize State House and President Edgar Lungu in particular,” Mr Kabwili said.

He said he has had no respect for the Post Newspaper for a long time and that in 2007, he declared the newspaper as lacking credibility and had since then never relied on what it has been publishing.

“As Government, we leave it to the people of Zambia to judge whether the Post aims at building the country or destroying it. The Speaker of the National Assembly told MPs both from the opposition and the ruling party that they had been victims of agenda of the Post newspaper. It is time action was taken so that this can be brought to an end,” Mr Kambwili said.

In December last year, the Post Newspaper published another letter purported to have been authored by Mr Chanda over a Zesco tender to STAG African Renewable Energy which also turned out to be a forgery.

  1. Kambwili please, be sincere with yourself. You say that you declared the post not a credible but you continue reading it. How did you get those stories?
The truth is that you have continued reading the post because they are always exposing the dirty work of PF. You also keep reading it so that you could see if there are any stories concerning your corrupt behave.

    • The Roan Silverback has reasoning deficit issues. How can be complain of leaks of state secrets and official documents and in the same breath claim that the PFost is issuing fake letters? The letters cannot be fake and official secrets at the same time, iwe Chimbwii munungu.
      #ChagwaMustFall

    • All these leaks were started by Sata when he was in opposition against Mwanawasa and I am delighted that PF are now feeling the effects of this malicious chaotic culture. It is called karma. Enjoy it while you can, but
      #ChagwaMustFall

    • How does the speaker know that letter is a forgery? The letter is purported to have been written by Amos. Why doesn’t he report the Post himself. At the end of the day the Post will have to defend themselves in court. Its that simple.

    • First statement from this air head without the word globo. Where does Edgar get such people? Chishimba Kambwili, Frank Bwalya, Mumbi Phiri, Davies Chama…one must be cursed to be surrounded by such mediocrity

    • Obatala
You have made my day.I also wonder how our president got himself surrounded by id1ots.Was he sober when appointing them?

    • @1 YOU REALLY CAN’T REASON EVEN ON THINGS THAT ARE SO STRAIGHT FORWARD. MR KAMBWILI READS THE POST NEWSPAPER FOR THE SAKE OF BEING AWARE AND NOT BELIEVING IN WHAT THE POST HAVE WRITTEN. HE IS A GOVT SPOKESPERSON SO HE NEEDS TO GATHER INFORMATION FROM EVERY CORNER OF ZAMBIA FROM ANY MEDIA WHETHER THAT MEDIA IS PROFESSIONAL IN THEIR NEWS DISSEMINATION OR NOT. I PERSONALLY, USED TO READ THE POST, BUT, STOPPED WHEN I DISCOVERED THAT THE OWNER OF THE PAPER USES IT TO INSULT OR HAVE A GO AT HIS PERCEIVED ENEMIES WHICH IS UN PROFESSIONAL. KAMBWILI IS A PUBLIC SERVANT, SO HE CAN’T STOP READING IT. BECAUSE HE WOULD BE NEEDED TO JUSTIFY THINGS.

    • Voice of reason, please try to reason. The security of the country is above our political agendas. If the Post is truly doing this, they are doing a disservice to the nation and all true Zambians who love this country should not allow this to happen, including yourself. We know some people are desperate to go to plot 1 or see the PF government out, but you do not throw away the baby with its bath waters. In this case it is not Kambwili who is corrupt, but the Post and its supporters like UPND and HH and the likes because twisting the truth and forgery is indeed corruption. In this way, The Post and UPND are de-campaigning themselves if they are not careful. They tried this last time and they failed and will fail again and again because they have not tangible issues to bring to the people…

    • NOW, IF THE POLICE CAN ONLY ARREST WHEN ECL OR ANY POLITICIAN FROM THE RULING REGIME- ONE WONDERS WHAT KIND OF TRAINING THEY GET. IN SHORT, OUR POLICE HAVE GOT NO IDEA WHEN AND WHEN NOT TO ARREST AN OFFENDER. WHEN ONCE THINKS OF NATIONAL SECURITY YOU CONCLUDE THAT WITH SUCH A POLICE FORCE THE NATIONAL SECURITY IS COMPROMISED BY THE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY, ITSELF. THE POLICE MUST PRO-ACTIVE AND NOT REACTIVE. MANY ALLEGED CRIMINALS HAVE ESCAPED FROM ZAMBIA BECAUSE OUR POLICE FORCE WAS SLEEPING AND WAITING FOR INSTRUCTIONS TO SEAL THE BOARDERS. OUR POLICE FORCE SERIOUSLY NEED RE-TRAINING. OR IS IT THE TRAINER WHO SERIOUSLY NEED RE-TRAINING?

    • “Mr Kambwili said there had been many complaints from Government Ministers and State House about the leaking of State secrets, and classified documents by the Post News Paper but there had been no action.”
So in one statement you agree there is leak of state secrets and in the other section you say it was forgery. These people don’t think @ ba minister of information.

    • @Housefly,the problem with people like you is that you read pick what you want to hear and not what the writer is saying hence misleading and misinforming yourself. Read again and again what Kambwili is saying. You may not like him but try to think through what someone is saying instead of misleading and misinforming yourself. Remember that we are living in an informed society where people are well enlightened.

    • Buck teeth, whatever that means. Two wrongs do not make a right. Assuming it was done by PF it does not mean UPND should do the same because if UPND comes into power it will be equally affected as you have rightly observed. It has been wrongly assumed that PF came into power on the back of lies and the Post and that if the opposition apply the same tactics it will also come into power. Only the August elections will tell if these tactics have worked.

    • If the letter is a fake, let Amos Chanda sue the Post for defamation!

What have you fat hippo got to do with it?

    • I thought the issue is that it is a fake letter, so you seem to not understand what is being claimed here. Do you you need help to conceptualise? The onus now is on the Post to prove if that letter is genuine. My advise to you is to wait for Post reaction to what the government is saying. What if what they are saying is true, can we allow the Post and it supporters to put the security of the nation at risk or in ridicule just because some people are desperate for power or have personal issue with Lungu and government. This is our country, and we should defend its integrity regardless of our political affiliation.

    • Whether or not State Security is porous, it is the fault of the Post to be unpatriotic. The Post is an enemy of the Zambian people.

  2. I blame our weak parliamentarians for this mess. As early as next week the government can pass a law making it a non-bail offence for anyone forging state documents. Further the new law should cover historical offences of up to 2 years. This will take care of Mmembe. I hope this helps.

    • @ 1mbeciles #4.1; 4.2 and 4.3

      Be careful with your wish.
Irrelevant from the fact that passing such retrospective amendment contrary to Art. 11(a) of the 1996 Constitution (it has NOT been amended), it will be “free for all” to ask for the disclosure of ALL Government correspondence. As 1mbecile #4.1 has pointed out in previous contribution, it will be “pfishing”.
How many more dirty secrets are there?

  3. That is Treasonous. Bringing the gov’t to ill repute before it’s citizens in an effort to throw gov’t out of power. Inciting non confidence, and creating heightened emotions as to create Anarchy in the state. That’s enough. Lock them up AND enough of long cases and appeal after appeal. These people are a danger to the state.

  4. “Mr Kambwili said Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini dismissed the Timor Consulting letter as a forgery and Government was expecting the police to act on the matter….” Really? Did the Speaker declare that the letter was a forgery? If so, why did you wait for the Speaker to dismiss the letter as a forgery before “asking” the police to act? Remember there is an endless list of investigations being carried out by the police at your behest for which the findings/outcomes are still being awaited!

    • It’s called Rule of Law @Bufi Tutu, it works both ways. Court cases must be proven before locking them up. It’s proof we have respect for Human Rights in Zambia.

    • @ 1mbecile abroad

When, according your retarded interpretation of “Rule of Law”, the Hon. Speaker of the National Assembly become investigative authority, or for that matter a forensic expert?

  5. My god the mediocrity, he says the post is leaking information. The post is publishing information leaked by government officials that is the correct position. And this Timor letter has been out there for months and there has been no serious denial from statehouse about its authenticity. What is the connection between the speaker and statehouse for Kambwili to say the speaker said blah blah blah. Isn’t it statehouse to to do the denials. One is the executive the other legislature so please reserve the mediocrity for your ignorant cadres.

  6. Kambwili said “the police must not wait for instructions from politicians or the State to take action against people engaged in criminal activities”. This means the police sometimes take instructions from politicians. Where then is the independence of the police force?!

    • I think he is referring to this incident where they are calling on the Police to arrest the perpetrators of this matter.

  7. LUNGU HAS BROUGHT MISERY ,POVERTY, HARDSHIP AND VIOLENCE TO ZAMBIA.
LOOK AT UNEMPLOYMENT IN ZAMBIA,LOOK AT THE PRICE OF MEALIE TODAY
AND YOU STILL WANT TO CONTINUE? WITH NO SHAME…..

  8. SHOULDN T IT BE FORENSICS CHECKING THE SIGNATURE AS TRUE OR FALSE? WHERE DID FATSO KAMBWILI CRAWL OUT FROM? HE HAS BEEN QUIET FOR SOMETIME NOW AND REAPPEARS TO SHOW US HIS DULL COPPERSTONE EDUCATION. LOL

  9. Is the Speaker of National Assembly an expert on forgeries?

Or is he now the left hand of the Executive…,?

  10. But Amos’ posture says it all. He is scared to death. Moreover, Kambwili must know by now that M’membe is too smart. If he wants Lungu’s PF to be embarrased, let the Zambia Teargas Service go ahead

  11. Kambwili is confused and disturbed. He wants to show that he is a right man for Roan constituency after being rejected by the people. In fact the police should start with him after lying that Muz and others organizations in Luanshya have petition his party to have him adopted for 2016 general elections.

  12. I don’t think I have understood what this big guy is saying.
    i) The speaker declared the letter a forgery? I thought it was Amos to deny authoring the letter and reporting the matter to police. How does the spineless Hon. Mr. Speaker come in? How did the Hon. Mr. Speaker know it was a forgery?
ii) If the post publishes state secrets, then fix the system. The problem is not the Post, the problem is GRZ employees. Do you blame CNN or Fox for publishing CIA secrets or you blame Edward Swoden for linking them?
iii) Why should police act when they are convinced there is no crime? Shouldn’t they use their professional judgement?
Anyway, my country went to dogs a long time. When the Post were in bed with them, Kabwili didn’t see any wrong. Now that they are on the either side, they…

  13. The letter in question was published by The Post Newspaper more than 3 weeks ago. Why has it taken them this long to dispute the authenticity of the letter? This is just an afterthought having realized that they have been caught pants down. To cover up their criminality, they’ve now shredded the letter and are now claiming that it never existed at all. This level of desperation is simply unbelievable. There is no iota of truth to the allegations of forgery being peddled by Kambwili.
