Lusaka Province Minister Obvious Mwaliteta has become the latest senior PF Government official to resign from his position with immediate effect.

Mr Mwaliteta who is also Kafue PF MP resigned today following hot in the heels of another resignation of his Chilanga counterpart and Justice Deputy Minister Keith Mukata.

In a letter addressed to President Edgar Lungu and copied to the Speaker and Clerk of the National Assembly, Mr. Mwaliteta thanked President Lungu for affording him an opportunity to serve as Minister in his Government.

He has since wished President Lungu all the best.

Earlier Justice Deputy Minister Keith Mukata has resigned his position following his defection from the MMD to the UPND.

In a letter addressed to President Edgar Lungu dated March 14th 2016 and obtained in Lusaka today, Mr Mukata thanked President Lungu for having accorded him a chance to serve in his Government.

The letter was also copied to the Speaker of the National Assembly including the Clerk of the National Assembly.

He has also conveyed his gratitude to the people of Zambia for the services rendered to the nation under President Lungu’s leadership.

Mr Mukata became the latest MMD MP to shift camp to the UPND along with eleven other MMD MPs at a colourful news conference held at Chainama Hotel in Lusaka today.

    • No confidence in Lungu’s leadership. Fuel and maize shortages everywhere. Mad PF cadres beating up people and undressing and insulting our women while the PF leadershi watches and does nothing.

What do you expect? More defections to come. All politicians, like all the people of Zambia are looking for hope. Hope for peace and no violence. And hope for a better economy. Everywhere you look, cost of living is beyond reach. People want change.

Its time for change. Kick out PF before its too late! Vote Kachema Kontolola

    • I shall be looking forward to @Senior Citizen’s resignation. I suspect he does have a G12 certificate and he will, quite rightly, now be looking to take up a productive role within the private sector.

    • History does really repeat itself. This is exactly what was happening to RB during his final year in office. Time for HH to rule has COME and you can’t stop it!!!!!!

    • I never liked this guy, but I think I give him respect for stepping aside because very few do that in Zambia.

    • He is probably not as sad to leave as the library photo implies.

Expecting more movement in both directions now the transfer window is open. Just keep the fight clean.

A first round TKO is possible.

    • Reacting to Maxwell Mwale’s defection, Charles Kakoma hinted at this happening today. Where was Kadansa’s intelligence to warn him to put damage control measures in place. Have they also defected. This is no time for a head of state to gallivant. Such are the moments elyo bapoka ichalo.

    • zambia reports is numb no fresh propaganda since Thursday last week balibe mau they are trying to regroup ifintu nafilungula

    • @1.2 b Bondwe, This Senior Citizen is highly blessed with Global skills rewarding him generously with no sweat. He can comfortably afford to put 3 Zambian cabinet ministers on a monthly salary and remain with a fortune every month. Discover and earn on-demand skills, you will appreciate the power of capitalism. Your buddy Mwaliteta had no choice but to circumb to the new Constitution edicts. ECZ starts verification of G12 certificates next week. Matero University degrees are no flyers. Tell GBM that there is a drafted clause to make holding Matero degree unbalance criminal case.

    • Ifintu ni Lungula!!!!

      Abantu baya!!! Vote wisely 11/8/2016!!

Vote UPND!! The party for Hope, Unity & Peace in Zed!!

      #chagwamustfall!!

      I thank you!

    • Now that of all people the Grade 7 Obvious Mwaliteta has quite PF for UPND, you will hear him now talking sense and practicing civilised politics of no violence but ideas. there’s just everything wrong with PF.

    • Only blind PF followers refuse to see what is happening. We already predicted this a long time ago but I didnt think it would start happening way before Parliament has been dissolved. Wait for May and see what will become of PF!! Even Miles Sampa is leaning towards HH and team!

    • Mwaliteta is still PF. Its unbelievable people think UPND will win. What magic are you going to use. The people of Zambia are tired of tribal politics. They will retire HH for ever.
UPND cadres make me laugh, when they talk, you would think elections are already over HH has won but this is how they behaved even last year they kept saying UPND has won but look at what happened. let them continue celebrating buy. when Lungu starts campaigning they will all sink in their cocoons.

    • Well, it was respected for Mwaliteta. He has no grade 12 certificate and can no longer be an MP or even a councillor. He has decided to go home and rest before many people come to know he actually has no grade 12 certificate. He has to save himself from this eventual embarrassment.

    • Because Mwaliteta does not qualify to stand as MP on any party ticket, his resignation is either utterly senseless or very prophetic. All sense says that he could have coasted along without rocking the PF boat (pun intended) until Parliament was dissolved. Mwaliteta’s resignation is a disaster for Lungu! That’s why

  1. No confidence in Lungu’s leadership. Fuel and maize shortages everywhere. Mad PF cadres beating up people and undressing and insulting our women while the PF leadershi watches and does nothing.

Its time for change. Kick out PF before its too late!

  2. OOOweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
PF IS DEAD. I urge all PF members including President Lungu t consider joing UPND before its too late. HH the 7th President of Zambia.

Lungu can be the running mate to HH. HH may go unopposed.

  3. KIKIKIKIKIKIIKIKKIKIIKIKIKKIIIIKKIIKIIKIIKKKI! WELO WELO WELO WELO WELO! WHERE ARE THE PF PUNDITS, THE PF CADRES FOR LIFE!

The silence is deafening! Muli muchibe bangwele! Just repent from PF and get baptised into UPND. Stop worshipping darkness and come to light. PF is evil, period!

  4. What happens to all these people quitting after the lose their constituencies in August? Political parties do not vote, Zambian voters are the ones that elect MPs. So these guys are abandoning their constituents? lol!

    Viva Nawakwi.

  5. Destiny has been set and the signs are written all over. I watched the pictures from the Mpika rally and I felt pity for the man. Just do crowd composition analysis on those pictures. Pictures do not lie folks. Zambians in their diversity have passed a verdict.

    • Truth no dear, it is to do with bad leadership, you see our friend Mwaliteta has noticed that the boat will soon sink or be stuck somewhere on a sand bank and he is abandoning ship as he does not want to be standing with poor Lungu with about 4 people around him and look conspicious. LOL

  6. Bloggers, wait for reaction from Kambwili, Frank Bwalya, Mumbi Phiri, Sunday Chanda and Alexander Chikwanda.

  7. Minister of Energy, we don’t have power from 19hrs every day in Kabangwe. This is despite load shedding the whole day. The only explanation from Zesco is that it trips. Every evening it trips, with no solution in sight. To make matters worse, this place has had no MP

    • Vote wisely so that you don’t get a 400% electricity tariff increase after August 2016 with no power guaranteed.

  8. There is no basis for supporting PF. Truth be told: PF has destroyed our country! PF has no justification to continue in power! Nothing is working properly, even the so called infrastructure development was just their easiest and quickest way to loot public resources!

  9. BREAKING NEWS
    Chimbwili Kashimba has defected……………………………
to Ndola Central Hospital Psychiatric Ward.

  10. God is doing a new thing in the political leadership of this nation. People leaving the current government does not imply the opposition will win the elections. I don’t mean to offend anyone but this is the truth that will happen in August 2016, President Edgar Lungu will win the elections. Whilst the president is in the rural areas working with serious voters, the opposition are make waves in the city, then pa last ati ba rigginger ma votes.

  11. A ruling was passed, that all Civil servants vying for Parliamentary seat should resign with dignity to allow for the process of fair election and governance!!. Does Mwaliteta fall under this clause, or Perhaps uyu Kambwanga was not adopted for new look style PF of women and youth leaders?? “Wa fwa wa fwa”

  12. Comment: Iwe ka Edgar Chigadi Lungu, Don’t waste time for the people of Zambia, Just get out of State house paving the way for His exllency Dr H. Hichilema, PF yatha! Yatha lero yatha! UPND Bomaaaaaaaaaaa!

  13. Lungu is used to come from behind… In any case, these people jumping ship are the same pipo who supported hh last time around.

These defections are all on tribal lines. We will vote on tribal line and lets see.. wako ni wako…

  14. Upnd dreamers get it from us true PF lovers!!Hon.Obvious Mwaliteta has a G9 Certificate,so he cannot stand in 2016 hence resigning his seat now.HE HASNT JOINED UPND FOR U TO BE HAPPY HERE BUT HE IS STILL PF!!!ALL THOSE MMD MPS WHO JOINED UPND TODAY ARE FROM 3 PROVINCES (BANTUSTAN AREAS) AND SINCE 2015 ALL THESE MPS HAVE BEEN UPND AND THEY LOST 2015 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION TOGETHER WITH HH!!then in Sinda where Levy Ngoma was mmd mp,hh came out first beating Edgar Lungu who never campaigned there by 400 or elso votes,LEY NGOMA WILL JOIN PATRICK MUCHELEKA IN 2016 FOR TAKING A WRONG MOVE!!2016 VOTTING PATTERN WILL BE REGIONAL SO ALL THESE MPS ARE POSITIONING THEMSELVES!!cant u see that all mmd mps in bemba speaking areas of Central, muchinga, northern,Luapula, didnt resign today?THEY WILL GO WITH…

    • HOW MUCH ARE THE PEOPLE IN LUAPULA, MUCHINGA AND NORTHERN PROVINCES PAYING FOR A BAG OF MEALIE MEAL, COOKING OIL AND SUGAR? ARE THEY SPARED ROM LOAD SHEDDING? ARE THEY PAYING LESS FOR FUEL? IF NOT, WHY SHOULD THEY CONTINUE TO VOTE FOR A PARTY THAT IS KILLING THEM SIMPLY BECAUSE IT IS PERCEIVED TO BE A BEMBA PARTY? IS NOT GBM BEMBA? WHAT TRIBE IS SAMPA? WHY HAVE THESE PEOPLE BEEN MARGINALISED AND TORTURED BY THEIR OWN PARTY? YOUR REASONING IS HOLLOW AND SENSELESS. PEOPLE NEED A LEADERSHIP THAT WILL TRANSORM THEIR STANDARD OF LEAVING FOR THE BETTER REGARDLESS OF THEIR TRIBE. HOW MANY BEMBAS HAVE LOST JOBS IN THE MINES BECAUSE OF BAD LEADERSHIP OF PF? IS CHIKWANDA GIVING THEM MONEY TO ALLEVIATE THEIR SUFFERING? IS HE NOT EATING ALONE?

    • You need to b serious> Why do you behave like a Boer? Bantustan is word coined by the Boer during Apartheid in south Africa. Are you implying that people from the provinces are no part of Zambia?

    • Those who expect UPND(HH) to bring down prices are dreaming. It will not happen.
UPND will not feed anybody.Just work hard dont wait for a politician or political party to feed you it wont happen.

    • @20 Eddy. Surely if Mwaliteta resigned becoz he does not have a Grade 12 cert, the prudent thing was just to let his term run out rather than causing all this speculation! Why resign with immediate effect if you have had no serious disagreements? It shows bad management of situations. Things are bad! Iliko bad!

    • @Lipkwa. Yes bantustan is a bad name. But why is UPND sleeping with the guy who coined the name. Is it a genuine relationship or it is a case of the enemy of my enemy is my friend?

  15. Faggots will start burning off but only haedwood will stay on. Mwaliteta knows he stands no chance in the coming elections so he thinks it is lighter to jump ship earlier than be barred by the Doption process. No surprise at all, many follow.

  16. Time for reshuffles for the President.

There are more Zambians who have the capacity to endure the heat and pressure of government, and are ready for appointment to deliver services to Zambia.

  17. It now seems that its time to shift gears depending on the political terrain but should be timely and well calculated. This however should not be construed to mean electing non-performers or corrupt people on party basis. Nevertheless. every vote counts and therefore such defectors should be weicomed enmasse to tilt the balance.

  18. This only says one thing that Lungu was riding on Sata’s popularity. Now that, the popularity has waned out, the wheels have also come off completely.
Lungu is behaving like children playing in a broken down car on bricks. Hahahahaha! How funny!!!! Lungu does not have any leadership skills. Let us wait and see what else will come off the PF bus. Halala, UPND , Halala.

    • Did he not explicitly say so during his presidential campaigns? “I’VE NO VISION….” was this not enough, yet you want to put him at the centre of the “laugh of the day” in 2016?… Reflective persons are those that understand that NOT HAVING A VISION means NOT HAVING LEADERSHIP QUALITIES…

  19. Nothing much going on here. Only underling ministers are leaving probably because they know they won’t progress much further in the next cabinet. Lets wait and see if any senior and important people leave.

    • Please note that you have few original senior Minister that are real PF …. besides I dont know what an “underling” is when Mwaliteta was a full Minister of the province that the President lives in.

    • @Shameless, please don’t let’s be dramatic after all dissolution of Parliament is just around the corner, and ALL MPs, Ministers senior, junior will have no role. All these mediocre partings will be completely irrelevant. Maybe they want to take a long break before the Campaign season. Or maybe puncture their friends??? Who knows.

  20. This when leadership is required for guidance and direction when rank and file have second thoughts… but this is mere wishful thinking expecting the utterly Lazy Bum Edgar to come he would rather tour the country and see how taxpayers money is being wasted on his overpriced projects.

  21. So these were the mass defections HH was talking about. Has parliament been resolved yet or are these guys risking their gratuity?

Lusaka was always going to go to UPND, so pardon my pessimism and skepticism but I would like to see defections from rural constituencies where the ruling party always manipulates poll results. Obviously I have seen Western and N/Western already gone from PF group. Barring manipulation, I think Lungu and PF are gone this time.

But these are just th!ves regrouping so it will be more of the same.

  22. Nothing to celebrate here…! Politics of the belly plus the tribal tag at work…! As for mwaliteta, I don’t blame him cos he can not stand as MP or even councillor…..so stepping down was inevitable…! Political prostitutes will be know by their movements…! Come Aug 11, it will be pf all over…!

    • Bitter men are resurfacing. May be this time it will not be aleisa aleisa 2016 to aleisa aleisa 2026

      Ifintu ni Lungu

  23. It is high time people like Senior Citizen accepted that HH is headed for a landslide victory come August. I have no iota of doubt about this. PF must wake up to some basic realities:
    1. Painting UPND as a Tonga party only works for those die hard tribalists in our society but not for the common person.
    2. Listening to your own propaganda on public media about untruths you create has deceived PF from accepting the reality on the ground. The support base has moved!
    3. More defections expected; particularly from voters across the country in favour of UPND. Watch the space…

  24. Here is PF Hypocrisy
    1. They claim to be pro-poor people, yet PF removed subsidies on food and fuel in the early months of attaining power.
    2. They followed this by increasing their salaries twice before imposing a wage freeze on civil servants.
    3. They call other parties tribal but their cabinet in the last four years has been dominated by same region and so have their recent filing of applications for nominations for 2016.
    4. They claim to be consultative but keep changing and reversing policies when stakeholders complain.
    5. They claim to be distributing development equitably but built two universities in one district.
    6. Edgar Lungu wants to empower women to leadership positions, but he is the one who instructed his MPs to shoot down the proportionate representation clause in…

    • Before 2011
      A car was a luxury
      Today it is not
      Before 2011
      Some Districts had no Hospitals
      Today hospitals are being built
      Before 2011
Some rural districts had no tarred roads
Today tarred roads are being built
      Before 2011
      Zambia had three universities
      Today universities are uncountable
      The list is endless
Humble Chagwa Lungu using Michael Sata’s vision has done all this.
11th August 2016 will be the day Zambian anoint ECL so that the doubting Thomas can know that ECL has a wonderful vision for this beautiful-ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION

      LUNGU efintu

    • @zam51, We forgive chaps like you. Either your memory starts from 2011 or you are a liar. Typical PF stereotype.

  25. Thanx that in the past three months PF has freely campaigned for UPND, and not for MMD whose RB went with them to bed and secure himself the acquittal! And looking at the way things are now, ba Poor Finishers time has gat with your lies… Are you still eager to fight against time, since you fought it hard with peaople who rightly advised you, being fellow Zedians and “brothers under the sun”?

  26. It was Obvious that Mwaliteta understood that Sata’s death exposed PF and, unfortunately, the entire country to a bunch of visionless fellows… Did the Commander in chief himself say he did not have any vision?

  27. THE PROPHESY READS ” …A TIME SHALL COMA WHEN OBVIOUS DOES THE OBVIOUS AND THE OBVIOUS SHALL OCCUR” HE THAT SHALL BE FOUND LUCKING SHALL VACATE THE HIGH SEAT OF POWER”!! TODAY OBVIOUS MWALITETA PUT AN END TO LUNGUS REIGN!!!!!

  28. MARK MY WORD! There will not be a clear winner in the first round of presidential elections. During a re-run, the ruling party will carry the day. The first round will expose one political party of regionalism. This will attract a counter, but similar voting pattern from those provinces which will feel offended by this one political party. Because numbers don`t lie, the aggrieved regions are more in numbers, and they will mobilize and vote for the ruling party. IT WILL BE LIKE A SYMPATHETIC VOTE, but this is what is likely to happen. Meanwhile enjoy the show as unprincipled politicians crisscross political parties.

  29. @Elections Observer 2016; please, keep hallucinating on your misguided illusions. You have deceived yourself with tribal mathematics that never exist in reality. Zambians; North-South; West-East all go through similar motions of hunger and economic deprivation. You cannot comfort yourself by simply assuming everyone else thinks like you, the shameless tribalist. The Lord should open your eyes to understand that Zambians will not vote based on tribe but on who offers best solutions to their immediate and future needs. Choosing UPND is not about tribe; its about an alternative to the current mess. There is nothing about numbers in Zambia; its about those who actually go to vote!Do your homework and you will notice how the majority have moved forward beyond this archaic thinking. Be blessed.

  30. Lungu destroyed PF. Can PF survive in the opposition? Grade 12 requirements that he signed to fix GBM is back firing. Zambia is tired of constitutional amendments aimed at fixing opposition. He sidelined Scott and Sampa and appointed an elected officials to full ministerial position. What kind of veagence is that destroying your own house in the process. That is stupidity at its best.
Same like Mumba, he appoints NEC members who have not won an election and calls that NEC just because they can make pronouncements to support him. Shame of Lungu, shame of Mumba, shame RB. They have no place in Zambian politics. Time is catching up on them.
PF will be a skeleton. Wait and see. More will defect to DF in coming months. Only Lungu and Chikwanda will remain and both will be jailed for…

    • You called it a people driven constitution and the Opposition and Civil Society campaigned for its adoption without changes, including the infamous G12 clause. The Constitution is now law and now you accuse Lungu of assenting in order to fix certain individuals? Lungu didn’t put the G12 clause in the Constitution. Zambians put it there. All lungu did was to give Zambians the Constitution they wanted. You have no sense of morality Monze!

  31. @ Musole Musole, i am not paid to blog on this forum. That is just my analysis of what is about to happen. If my analysis is incorrect, please come and disapprove me in August. Those who have followed me will agree that my predictions come to pass. I blog by the same name what only changes is the year of elections. I am not a political cadre and i do not insult. PLEASE PRAY THAT THE LORD SHOULD NOT PUNISH YOU FOR USING HIS NAME IN VAIN.

  32. THE GREATEST TRAGEDY IN LIFE IS NOT DEATH,BUT LIFE WITHOUT PURPOSE.THE GREATEST CHALLENGE IN LIFE IS KNOWING WHAT TO DO,WHILE THE GREATEST MISTAKE IS BEING BUSY BUT NOT EFFECTIVE. BEING SUCCESSFUL IN A WRONG ASSIGNMENT SHOULD BE THE GREATEST FAIL IN LIFE

FIND YOUR PURPOSE, AND CONTRIBUTE EFFECTIVELY TO SOCIETY! !!
    IN CHRIST,IS TRUE FULLFILLMENT!!

  33. Look closely at the names and you can tell that Mmembe was right about upnd- Bantustan! Nega nega 2016- ECL all the way!

  34. Comment:
Dont wory about defections or rumours boma ni boma..the rule of the jungle..either yu eat or be eaten.

  35. President Lungu, never be swayed by defectors, ‘bamuselela kumwabo’ this was expected. Soldier on with the remaining faithful ones. Never be worried with the Judas Escariot. Remember, UPND will never form government with its current leadership.

  36. We are fed up of these political opportunists. We are sick and tired of the same people being retrieved from the political recycle bin. Zambians vote for any new candidate regardless of which party they come from and fix these political prostitutes.

  37. I write to challange HH to at least say ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION at any of his gatherings for once. The man has never believed in this motto at all, we are all Zambians regardless. He only says Zambia Forward. He thinks if he says ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION his kith and kin will abandon him. Come on HH shout ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION for once then we shal not label you a tribalist, regionalist.

IFINTU NI LUNGU – Copperbelt, Luapula, Muchinga, Northern, Central, Eastern and Lusaka nabatulanga ifya ku VOTA abanensu uku kwashala. Let us soldier on.

  38. mwaliteta is still PF.

  39. Lungu is used to come from behind… In any case, these people jumping ship are the same pipo who supported hh last time around.

These defections are all on tribal lines. We will vote on tribal line and lets see.. wako ni wako…

  40. Young man Mwaliteta why spoil ur good name at the last minute? U were better off in pf than joining upnd which has no chance even in hell to form a govt with hh at the helm. At least pf would have placed u somewhere while they waited for u to advance ur education. U even pledged to campaign for the kafue council chairman who had applied to contest under the pf ticket and I remember congratulating u through lt for being such a statesman! Am disappointed with u. Anyway, wish u luck.

  41. Resignations are normal just the same way Jonas quit UPND and it was nothing but Mwaliteta and Keith to leave then some *****s have something to say.
    NB
The 11 MPs that have left are moving from MMD to UPND and nothing to do with PF.

  42. Ignorance has no defence…. If you think you will manage to leave well in Zambia with this current government, then you don’t know what’s best for you and your families plus the future generation. Lets make things straight by voting wisely. Just like Sodom and Gomorrah, people were warned and yet, they continued in mischief until they were doomed. Youths, for us to prolong the well being of Zambia, let us vote the man HH so as to make Zambia the food basket, peace, prosperity for all of us. With love!

  43. Yap Yap Yap, the game of politics is about the BALLOT. So far political defections, money and what have you, have never won elections in the history of Zambian politics but the SECRET BALLOT. Somebody will cry. NAFUTI NAFUCHI, one partywill win 8 provinces and rest will share 2 provinces. YES history has a way of repeating itself.

    NB.
The voting pattern in SP will never change any sooner, so I know how not to give HH my vote.

  44. One thing we should truly reflect on as voters is whether a Party exists on its own in name only or it exists because of the composition. What I know is that it is the members that make a Party. The failures of that party are failures of those individuals that make up that party. These people have simply decided to throw their morals through the window. They stand for nothing and simply do not believe in anything. They are not nationalists. They feel privileged to be in Politics and be Ministers. People let’s desist from turning people into Bolly Wood, Holly Wood , Nolly wood stars. Name it! Let’s have the ability to analyse and vote for correct people.
