PF Mufumbwe MP Stephen Masumba has called on people from his constituency not to panic after the Party District Political Secretary Christopher Kajilo conducted interviews for aspirants without informing him.

And Mr Masumba has said that the MMD MPs who endorsed the candidature of UPND President Hakainde Hichilema did so for self preservation.

Speaking at a media briefing Friday morning Mr Masumba accused Mr Kajilo of trying to destabilise the ruling Party in the constituency with “his politics of the berry.”

He said Mr Kajilo wants to continue feeding himself from politics and that he has even failed to build a house because of his behavior.

“He wants to be feeding himself through politics that is his behavior. That is why he has even failed to build a house, he sleeps under a tree. For him who ever comes even in the middle of the night and gives him gifts, that person becomes popular there and then. So my people in Mufumbwe should not be worried that I am not one of those interviewed for the seat,” he said.

And Mr Masumba has advised the opposition UPND in the constituency to stop pitting people in the area against each other on tribal lines.

He said the UPND are pitting people against each other on tribal lines as the leadership in the party has continued to be rotating between the chokwes and Lundas while the Kaondes have been sidelined.

“When you talk about the UPND as Party in the constituency there are two things that are there. There is Chokwe group and a Kaonde group and the UPND have refused to associate themselves with the Kaonde group so UPND is now seen to be part of the Chokwes and we should not condone such kind of leaders who just thinks on tribal lines, leaders should not use divide and rule tactics using tribal lines,” he said.

He said the same can be said about the province as the UPND leadership has continued to be held under the Lundas while other tribes are sidelined.

Meanwhile Mr Masumba accused the MPs who endorsed the candidature of Hakainde Hichilema of doing so because they think UPND will win the next elections so that they can be appointed.

Mr Masumba who singled out MMD Chilanga MP Keith Mukata wondered how the people who have been working for the Party in the constituencies with the hope contesting for the seat on the UPND ticket will feel when they are left out.

He said Mr Mukata was busy dancing for his berry after eating with the PF and now that he thinks he has a better chance of returning his seat under the UPND he has decided to jump ship.

“They were dancing, in fact they don’t even don’t know how to dance, they can’t even beat me. That boy who was dancing who resigned as Justice Deputy Minister can’t not even surpass me in terms of dancing but he went masquerading there that he is a dancer, dancing for what? For the berry because he is trying to do political gymnastics because he feels that in the constituency where he is it the UPND which strong. That is not the way we should be doing politics. We should not be doing politics of the berry,” he said.

  1. Berry or belly Masumba. your day of reckoning is coming – you always you’re a star when you an empty tin.

    • WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM COPY AND PASTE JOURNALISM IN ZAMBIA AND IN PARTICULAR BA LT. ALMOST EVERY SENTENCE HAS A GRAMMAR OR SPELLING ERROR IN LT. OR JUST REPEATED SENTENCE AND WORDS BECAUSE OF COPYING AND PASTING. WITHOUT EVEN CHECKING WHAT THEY HAVE COPIED- IT BANG. THE BUTTON IS CLICKED TO UPLOAD THE ARTICLE. IT’S A PITY WE CAN’T HAVE THE JOURNALISM QUALITY AND STANDARDS OF THE GOODWIN BWALYA MWANGILWAS.

  2. I am sure Masumba is weighing his options at the moment… soon he will make an exit, just wait. His talking is not straight and pointing to particular route or political party and he is neither there nor here

  3. This little chicken thinks that dancing is what will take him to parliament? Talk about matters that concern the well being of the people in your area.

    • LITTLE CHICKEN? I LIKE MASUMBA. HE IS A MODERN MAN AND POLITICS LIKE ANY OTHER TRADE NEEDS LIGHT MOMENTS WHICH USED TO BE PROVIDED BY MASUMBA’S DANCES WITH TRADITIONAL DANCERS AND EVEN TO CONGOLESE MUSIC. HE IS WHAT I CALL A MODERN POLITICIAN. WE NEED SUCH YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN. GOD BLESS HIM. IF YOU CAN READ BETWEEN HIS LINES, HE MENTIONED DANCING ON A LIGHTER NOTE AND NOT SERIOUS ONE.

  4. he deserves to be respected for pointing out that polititians should not be so opportunistic as to be jumping parties only when they sense loss. true that is cowardise and lack of principle. hon masumba and his solwezi counterpart should be commended for their bravery, daring the upnd in their perceived strongholds. that is also more unifying than mukata’s and Co.

    • He was a member of the MMD when he accepted the PF appointment and later jumped to PF. Why criticize others when they do the same kind of thing (switch parties) he did.

    • OF COURSE HE DOES AND YOU ARE 100% RIGHT THAT THE GUY DESERVES RESPECT. MASUMBA CAN AND HE DOES INSPIRE A LOT OF YOUNG PEOPLE. EVEN HIS DANCING IS AN INSPIRATION ON THE YOUTH. SIMPLY, HE IS A COOL GUY.

  5. Masumba, why did Shakafuswa, Martin Mubànga, Richard Kapita and one Steven Masumba resign from the UPND and MMD to join the PF, if it’s not for the same reason that Mwaliteta and many others are resigning from the PF to join the UPND? No wonder you forged a diploma because you laçk analytical acumen. Are you sure your Grade 12 is not forged?

  6. Why is Masumba concerned about tribal issues in the UPND, please if you want to join us, just join us, and Masumba ( also Kafwaya) to tell you the truth you won’t be elected, you will never be MPs in NW province any more as long us you align yourselves with the visionless. We can’t trust you two guys any more. HH will open for us Katooka Mema Mine( gold), Njenga copper Mine, and Will allow chief Kizela run a Mine in his area which your pf has thrown in spanners. You 2 boys mwituletela bumvu(insoni). I pity you.

    • MASUMBA IS CONCERNED ABOUT TRIBAL ISSUES ON A GLOBAL SPECTRUM AND NOT JUST IN YOUR TRIBAL PARTY. HE IS CONCERNED ABOUT THE WAY YOUR TRIBAL PARTY ID DIVIDING NORTH WESTERN PROVINCE AND HE HAS PUT IT QUITE PLAIN.

  7. This fool knows he is going nowhere. The clock is ticking and *****s like you will soon be so ashamed to venture outside your yards. You will finish like used toilet tissue.

  8. Useless Masumba
Of all things you only talk about competing in dancing? No wonder your govt has no priorities for developing the country. So yours is about dancing starting from your clueless Head of State. Shaa

  9. is a wrong chap to talk about politics of the belly coz he equally crossed for his belly from MMD to PF. Anyway, I’m sure he has forgotten just as he forgot he never cleared certain courses at NIPA. On tribal politics; he should join UPND to balance the chokwes, Kaondes and the like. Why should it be tribe just coz he’s tribe (Kaonde) is not in the hierarchy of UPND? Musumba, what is tribalism?

  10. Is this the one who was jailed? He is now an MP? Is it a joke? Why was he accepted as an MP? Are we serious as Zambians?

  11. Chaps are confused. Complaining about not being interviewed and UPND being tribal favouring chokwes in some area and lundas blah blah blah. Thought these same characters say UPND is a Tonga party. These people need to be examined ku chainama.
