THE election of Andrew Kamanga as Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president has liberated many people in the football family including journalists, a Livingstone based sports administrator Patrick Kasoka has said.

Kasoka, who is PK Sports Academy Executive Director, said he was among many sports administrators and other citizens including journalists who were excited and liberated following Kamanga’s election.

He said in an interview yesterday from Kitwe that some journalists were intimidated, manhandled and barred from covering FAZ activities under the leadership of former association president Kalusha Bwalya.

Kasoka, who attended the just ended FAZ Annual General Meeting in Kitwe, said he was happy that the wish of many people was honoured.

“We now have seen a genuine winner as FAZ president and many people including coaches, players, sports administrators, soccer fans and journalists are happy with Kamanga because they have been liberated,” he said.

Kasoka said it was clear during the voting process that Kamanga would emerge winner because he had a clear message to sports administrators and the country at large in terms of what he would do improve soccer.

He also claimed that Kalusha was currently influencing people who supported his bid to resign from FAZ positions.

Kasoka further alleged that the former FAZ president was inciting senior players not to participate in the National Team following his defeat by Kamanga.

He said the Kamanga led executive was well placed to take the country’s football fraternity to greater levels.

“We are told that the three FAZ executive committee members who supported Kalu’s bid are being influenced to resign.

“Some senior players are also being incited to stop playing for the National Team. I want to say that the players are not owned by an individual but by the nation,” Kasoka said.

He also urged the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to give the findings of Kalusha’s investigations since the former FAZ president was out of office.

“If ACC was scared to probe because Kalu as FAZ president, let them now move in and conclude on their investigations because the man is now out of the Football House,” Kasoka said.

  1. I agree with you, Kasoka. Kalu had become larger than life. I doubt those who voted for him did so out their own free will. They did so out of fear and for promised of personal benefits. Let’s move on. The new deal govt needs to start off with its own FAZ.

    • I agree wholeheartedly with this too…Galu treated Faz like a his briefcase company and he paid the price…people are not ***** to be worshipping you about your playing days when you are LAMENTABLY FAILING as an administor….all Kamanga has to do is open the books even bring in independent auditors to come and weed out the bad seeds in the organisation then forward everything to ACC thats accountability.

  2. Shut your mouth up learn to appreciate whe someone has done you good.
Kalu did his best dispite some of his weakness.we know some of you, you after after Jobs at FAZ know that it’s open here Kulabose like a stray dog.already you have stated ukubwata barely two days of your election, I can assure looking at your and hearing what is coming out of you mouth you achieve nothing.
Leave those resigning alone they are doing it out of principal intact they should be commended for leaving those to others to save also.as for Kalu the man is well connected he will soon find himself at CAF or FIFA he is above your pathetic Admistration not even you Kamanga can be equall to him.

    • Stop being bitter bane! Kalu’s hero worshipping has costed him, how can you have a FAZ surely soliciting for bribes from players to play in the national team? Its been stated that he even went as far as accruing hug bills and passing them to foreign based players because of their financial muscle and you still want that kind of leadership at FAZ? Please wake up and smell the coffee!

  3. I hope AK does realise how much burden he’s been made to carry. So much is expected of him by many people some with sincere motives & others probably not so sincere. He will be checked for any moves he makes. He has to remember one of his greatest tools will be his famous blueprint. He’s also going to be judged by the people he surrounds himself with. He should be wary of cronyism & this attitude of running to FIFA with threats of bannings. He will work well if he has more of the support of Zambians than of outsiders.
He can model his leadership more on people like Sir Sebastion Coe of IAAF & not crooks like Hayatou.

  4. Kalusa just brought to Zambian football development right day the guy influenced members to create a position of technical director instead of coach and the same time imposed himself as faz President mulonga tried to things straight members voted him out of faz and the trickstar became president ala lesa nimanyotola let those players go with him if they think he created them viva chimanga Viva 9

  5. We should not count chicks before the eggs hatch. Let’s just wait and see. There is a lot that King Kalu had achieved during his tenure, some of which are televising of league games on Super Sport, the Nike jerseys, etc etc

  6. We know some of you
    Like @TALKING SENSE
you are good at crucifying others and talking trush, it’s a well known thing that Kalu is a hero both national and internationally far by you Kamanga we know you are saying all that coz you want to eat at the expense of our football development.
You are the same people who will turn around when you are not given what you want.

  7. This guy sounds so bitter and unstable, he probably has a grudge against Kalu, why isuuing such empty sentiments and attacks on a person who has just left office through a ballot and accuse him of influencing players barely 4 days after leaving office? Zambians lets learn to say the truth and appreciate one another’s achievements.

  8. Let me participate in this childish talk. Instead of giving Kamanga ideas, some people are busy attacking Kalu. The man has left, let’s look forward. Kamanga has set a good tone, he is not looking backwards. The guy who is saying national team players were paying bribes to play in the national team, I suspect is just a rubble rouser, stop personal vendettas. If you had issues with Kalu, that time is gone.

  9. Look at this id1ot already blame game has started by these fo1ols even before they settle down. The Andrew K executive will be synonymous with confusion especially once the dirt Simataa becomes General Secretary. Watch this space

  10. Kalusha was a good player and a bad Coach also corrupt FAZ president. Being a bad Coach and corrupt FAZ president is what has costed him today. The man has no house in Zambia. He thinks owes him too much to be staying at Intercontinental when he shows up from south africa. The team that will be playing tomorrow does not have Chisamba Lungu and Charley Musonda because of Galu. Let him rot in hell.

  11. pipo lets not blame kalusha for everything, how come u saying kalu is influencing senior members of faz to resign that is a liar and how come u saying he has told senior players to attend to national duties that is again a lyiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii,So kamanga jsut do wat u came for if the govt dont give u support use yo connection and money from yo businesses.Dont bring kalu in this coz yo councillors voted for u

  12. pipo lets not blame kalusha for everything, how come u saying kalu is influencing senior members of faz to resign that is a liar and how come u saying he has told senior players to attend to national duties that is again a lyiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii,So kamanga jsut do wat u came for if the govt dont give u support use yo connection and money from yo businesses.Dont bring kalu in this coz yo councillors voted for ak

  13. Kalusha must be stopped from influencing players…………He frustrated Teddy Mulonga who managed to run FAZ with Meager resources

  14. I concur with those who dont want to participate in the blame game because it is just retrogressive.
The man is no longer in the driving seat. Blaming him wont improve soccer in this country.

What we need are ideas how we are going to improve our beautiful game. Let us learn from his mistakes but don’t make him a villain.

The truth is Kalu has contributed something to the game despite having some weaknesses and who doesn’t have weaknesses anyway?

Stop the blame game and move forward. That is what brings development in any sphere of life be it private or public.

  15. Congrats! Andrew Kamanga,The football fraternity in Zambia will now breathe some fresh air and to all those FAZ officials who are frustrated by Andrew Kamangas’ election and will heed to Kalusha Bwalya’s advise to resign from FAZ please do it fast because we have a lot of Professional Zambians who can work with AK to bring sanity at Football House…Moreover, Please be reminded that in any organizational setup one should not make a mistake of being loyal to an individual but the organization because an individual will not be there forever.VIVA AK!VIVA SANITY AT FAZ.

  16. The Other Organisation that needs a clean up is the ZAAA under Elias Mpondela, he has become like the owner of an organisation which is supposed to be owned by the zambian people

  17. Kalusha could not even hand over power in a dignified way, just goes to show the man thought FAZ was his god given right to abuse as he and his gang pleased. FAZ belongs to Zambians, we want to see open books as promised by Kamanga starting with the gate recites from the upcoming games.

I still can not believe FAZ was been run like a personal company by the kalusha admin with all accounts secrete with full blessings of the corrupt PF GRZ.

  18. This new guy should start putting his plans into action instead of witch hunting Great Kalu. Kalu’s record is there for all to see. The new guy should put his act together and reorganize FAZ for better results. People will judge him by his results and nothing else

  19. Move on. Be mature and stop blaming Kalusha Bwalya for things you can’t even prove. Very petty, personal and childish attacks. Look forward, how do we assist AK settle in and move the game to another level. Kalu played his part.
