A football fan takes to prayers after Ivory Coast was awarded a penalty shoot, which Didier Drogba later failed to convert

PF Lusaka Central Constituency Chairperson, Chitano Nkoma, says the party leadership would continue to uphold peace during and after the forthcoming August 11 elections.

Speaking during a prayer session held at Living Hope Church in Lusaka yesterday, Mr Nkhoma said this was the reason the party in the constituency held prayers yesterday to seek God’s guidance for peaceful elections.

Mr Nkhoma said the party leadership was seeking God’s guidance for the country to have peaceful elections before, during and after the elections.

He said after the rise in the number of political violence cases in the country with the recent one being the attack on the PF chairperson for Information, Frank Bwalya, the PF was calling for zero tolerance to violence.

And speaking at the same event, Living Hope Pastor, Sydney Mulenga, called for humble political leaders if the forthcoming August 11 elections were to be peaceful.

Pastor Mulenga, who used the event to wash the feet of some congregants, said it was through having humble leaders that the country would continue enjoying peace since 1964.

Meanwhile, the PF Lusaka Central Constituency has continued its mobilisation programme ahead of the forthcoming August 11 general elections after it opened another branch at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) called the Michael Chilufya Sata Branch

Speaking at the launch of the branch, Mr Nkhoma said the establishing of a branch at the UTH was an indication that the PF was growing from strength to strength.

The Michael Chilufya Sata becomes the 33rd PF branch aimed at ensuring the ruling party’s strength in Lusaka Central.

Mulifibupa, you pray and then you go out to beat people up - shame on the pastors that are part of this foolishness. You Think God can be manipulated, leave him out of this foolishness. By the way he knows all of your wicked ways

Pharises also used to offer long prayers in public, but had hearts of serpents and crucified Jesus Christ.

For prayers to work there are conditions attached to it. It's not like you just take prayer as a magic wand thinking that it is going to create some miracles. Prayer is attached to righteousness. There are things that make prayer not to be answered and one of them is sin, disobedience to God, selfishness, greed, self gratification motives etc. God knows the mind of man and He knows if we are asking him for things to spend on our self gratification. THE DESIRE OF PRAYERS FOR PEACE BY POLITICAL PARTIES IS A VERY WELL COME MOVE BUT THE TEST OF ITS SINCERITY WILL ONLY BE SEEN AFTER ELECTIONS. ARE WE READY TO ACCEPT DEFEAT IF IT COMES? That's the big question. For those that don't believe in God, leave those who believe alone. Why do people get so worked up by what other people believe...

@Adage, very good points. However, you left out the main word - work. Prayers without work mean nothing.

PF stop making a mockery out of God. He is not the author of confusion and definitely not to be used for your selfish interests. You are the biggest hypocrites pretend to be holier than thou but your leaders speeches are full of hatred and tribalism. You busy trying to divide us than unifying us.

Prayer is good but PF is acting like Muslim terrorists who after prayers they go on terrorist communities. What happened after Lungu's Day of prayers? Zambia has seen worse blood and too many harrasment of the opposition.

BA PF YOU ARE COURTING GOD'S WRATH ON YOURSELVES AND YOUR PARTY. GOD CANNOT BE MOCKED. YOU CAUSE VIOLENCE AND YOU STRIPPED A WOMAN NAKED AT YOUTH DAY CELEBRATIONS IN THE PRESENCE OF YOUR LEADERS WHO DIN'T RAISE A FINGER TO STOP THE ROT. YOUR LEADERS ARE ENGAGED IN STEALING FROM THE POOR PEOPLE. YOUR PRESIDENT IS BUSY ORDERING THE POLICE TO VIOLATE CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS OF ASSEMBLY. DO YOU THINK GOD IS AMUSED? FIRST REPENT; DO WHAT IS RIGHT; LET JUSTICE FLOW LIKE WATER IN A RIVER; AND STOP STEALING FROM GOD'S PEOPLE, THEN GOD WILL FORGIVE YOU AND ONLY WILL GOD LISTEN TO YOUR PRAYERS. OTHERWISE YOU ARE INVITING GOD'S WRATH ON YOURSELVES. YOUR PRAYERS WILL TURN INTO A CURSE AGAINST YOU AND YOUR LEADERS. MARK MY WORDS.
