Chief Government Spokesman Chishimba Kambwili and UPND Vice President Chishimba Kambwili are set to go for a major showdown when the two bully politicians face off in a political debate, a first in Zambian politics.
This was after Mr Mwamba agreed the offer to debate from Mr Kambwili after the Information Minister challenged him to a debate when turned down the initial challenge for a beauty contest.
In a statement, Mr Kambwili said, “I accept all the conditions harboured by the UPND Vice President. The date shall be Thursday 21st April at Government Complex and all Media Houses are welcome to hold the event live.”
He said a peaceful and cordial audience is equally welcome.
“Let us show the people of Zambia that we know what we are doing. I am ready for the debate and I hope my colleague will not withdraw. I will communicate the time closer to the day and the media houses can arrange themselves,” Mr Kambwili said.
And Mr Bwalya said, “Chishimba Kambwili let’s get it on, I do accept your challenge.”
“Country men and women yesterday I challenged Chishimba Kambwili to a beauty contest and he countered for obvious reason that instead “if I am man enough I challenge him to a live television debate on national issues, such as the social economic and political situation in our country. I challenge him to address real issues that are affecting the nation, not his recent comic outbursts”. I am not a comedian and i talk issues affecting the people of this beautiful country who have been short changed by his Government.”
He said, “I shall debate with you and I give you the opportunity to choose the date and time, however, I will not have this debate at your discredited ZNBC, let us have 3 independent moderators and a studio audience participating too.”
He added, “We all say we are serving the people, so let the people judge. This should also lead to a debate between our Presidents. In normal situations I would have rather have had this debate with your Vice President but since you challenged me, I shall give this a one-time opportunity to debate with you.”

On the issue of mealie meal: Maize prices all over Southern Africa have greatly risen as a result of poor rainfall over the past 5 years or so. Despite this Zambia has not experienced a need to import maize, thanks to a PF Farmer Input Support Programme that many farmers from all provinces of Zambia have benefited from WE ARE EXPECTING A BUMPER HARVEST IN ZAMBIA!!! That is a fact there is a lot of maize waiting to be harvested!!!

Zambia like all other commodity based African economies has suffered from a drop in commodity prices affecting the exchange rate, however thanks to the hard working team of economists at the Min of Finance we have witnessed a resurgence of the ZMW. Compare our economy to Zimbabwe, Mozambique or Malawi we are doing so much better!

On the Load shedding..Zambia depends mostly on Hydro Electricity Power generation as most people know, low water level=low power generation and there is a quota that must be maintained to supply the mines, despite this the commissioning of the new plant at Itezitezi and importing electricity and God helping with increased rainfall we are now seeing a reduction in the loadshedding.
