Another Kitwe civic leader has appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to one count of obtaining money by false pretence.

Ndeke ward councillor, Evans Nsokolo, today appeared before Kitwe Magistrate Kampinda Chipamu, and pleaded not guilty to obtaining K17, 000 by false pretence.

This is in a case in which Nsokolo, 37, of house number 512, Ndeke, Changa-changa in Kitwe, is facing one count of obtaining money by false pretence.

Particulars of the offence are that Nsokolo on dates unknown, but in June 2012, with intent to defraud, obtained K17,000 cash from Chrispine Mwanza on the pretext that he had a plot to sell when in fact not.

In denying the charge, Nsokolo said, “Your honour, I understand the charge and I plead not guilty”.

Magistrate Chipamu granted Nsokolo bail in the sum of K10,000 with two working sureties in government pensionable jobs also in the sum of K10, 000 each.

Ms Chipamu set April 27 for prior mention and May 3, 2016, for trial.

Yesterday, Kitwe Mayor, Kelvin Sinyangwe, also appeared in a Kitwe magistrate’s court on two counts of obtaining money on false pretences.

Mr Sinyangwe also pleaded not guilty to both counts.

  1. Most if these councillors have disreputable character. The sole motivation of going into office is to award themselves pieces of land commonly referred to as plots. It cuts across party lines

  2. LT lacks patience in their news writing/editing no wonder mistakes have become synonymous to this online media. The headline reads and i quote “Another Kitwe Civic Leader in court for obtaining by false pretence” Obtaining what??????. This one is not an advise to you LT but a warning especially as we go to the polls make sure you write correct things otherwise

    • For your own information there is a vacancy assistant editor. Please apply u seem to be better than lt who are keeping us updated unlike yo usual rantings

    • @ If not why no brains or whatever you call your self….. Try to exercise a bit of patience as well, your grammar is worse off than that of LT. Your post in trying to attack me has ended up exposing your level of education. I quote….”For your own information there is a vacancy assistant editor”…… Is this a name of an individual or its a position? what English is this? who taught you grammar? where do you even gather the courage and strength to challenge me with your less concentrated vocabulary of yours?? there is something deeply wrong with you my boy, your grammar is too dry. Anyway go through your post again and see if its making sense….. you will never be among the sharpest tools in my tools box.

  3. There IS too much theft by public servants from top to bottom. I can’t tell you the horror I have experienced dealing with various Civic employees in the last 3 weeks in effort to administer my Parents and Sibling Estates. I was mugged out of K1,700 in bribes, the last two weeks just trying to protect the estates from my deranged relatives (some are going to be jailed) who have been living large at my cost as I starved in Europe in the last 25 years! Honestly, Zambians we must teach our children and give them a conscious to do right. These bas.tards being arrested must be jailed. Public servants are to serve people.

  4. Its sad that our city is rocked with such reports. We pray and hope that there should a system that will provide checks and balances and reduce the temptation of Civic leaders to be vulnerable to the scheme. I for one l feel bad that our city is dragged into dirty activities. Ndola is fueling all these problems, a clean up at the Lands office in Ndola will too bring sanity to our province.
