Govt. completes repair works on 160 Kilometres Mpolokoso-Nsama road

Government has completed repairing works on 160 Kilometres Mpolokoso-Nsama road at the cost of K800, 000.

Both Mpolokoso and Nsama district commissioners confirmed the development in separate interviews with ZANIS in yesterday.

Mpolokoso District Commissioner, Bridget Chitundu said the completion of the road has by Road Development Agency (RDA) has brought relief to residents in the area.

She explained that motorists used to take 6 hours from to travel from Mpolokoso to Nsama district but they are now taking only one hour thirty minutes.

Ms. Chitundu has since warned residents in the area to make good use of the repaired road.

And Nsama District Commissioner Chilufya Mulenga said the repairing of the road has since boosted economic activities in Nsama district.
He added that tourism activities are also likely to be improved in the area.

Meanwhile RDA engineer contract, Peter Sinkonde said the agency is only remaining with finishing touches such as the construction of concrete box cultivates.

He said the scope of work included the light grading, gravelling, and construction of culverts.

Good works there but its not 160 kms but 67kms is the distance from Mporokoso to Nsama and for some of us who have used that stretch, it was quite a nightmare as you needed 2 to 3 extra tires for you to be safe. Hope they can work on the Mporokoso Kawambwa road as travelling on this road as one of the most tormenting and this where the beautiful Lumangwe falls is

  3. Repair works? How has this road costed us? And why don’t we have warranty on these roads. Zambia is the most expensive in terms of infrastructure development due to deep rooted corruption and then we go celebrate repair works when we should have value for our money. Meaning repairs should be done after 20 years if the road was built to last like the Kaunda roads

    Surely how are such simple road works costing K800,000…we need to incorporate Value Engineering technics to reduce the costs…why didn’t RDA simply hand this contract to ZNS to do it at half the cost? We bought them those bulldozers from China last year..oh maybe they are all broken down as they are waiting for spares.

  6. The work involved is too small compared to the amount to be paid out. The price of copper is going down, export of maize is political and can’t be exported but tender award amounts are skyrocketing every day. That is why you are now stranded with a heap of unpaid invoices from contractors and suppliers.

  7. Road construction in Zambia is not about quality but about how much loot one walks away with at the end of the project.
