Mufulira Wanderers on Sunday continued with their slow start to the 2016 FAZ Super Division after giving away a late lead to draw 1-1 at Nchanga Rangers.

Forward Nicholas Kamocha handed Wanderers a 75th minute lead that was cancelled by defender Chongo Chirwa’s spectacular long range goal four minutes later.

The two teams had gone to the half time break with a score-less draw in this Week 7 match played at Nchanga Stadium in Chingola.

This was the 5th draw for Wanderers who only have one win and one loss in their first seven matches.

Interestingly, this was Nchanga’s first draw of the season and it came a week after the 4-2 drubbing at Nkana.

Coach Bruce Mwape’s Nchanga are now 5th on the table with 10 points from 7 matches while not so Mighty remain 10th with 8 points.

  1. FAZ must clamp down on the soccer hooliganism that happened at the stadium where Nchanga Rangers supporters started throwing bottles at Mufulira Wanderers supporters. A number of supporters were injured and the crowd trouble did even interrupt the game. FAZ must ban the selling of bottled beer at all its stadia and take stron action against Nchanga Rangers! I have never witnessed such scenes at Nchanga stadium in my many years as a soccer fan

  2. I watched the game on TV. I was disappointed by the poor standard of football. The playing surface was like a school football ground. As for the so called Nchanga stadium, it looked worse than the Gabitas Stadium I went to in 1975 to watch Mufulira Wanderers against Nkana United in a cup match. Pity how a lot of things have deteriorated in Zambia.

  3. @Cuito Cuanavale you are right the pitches in the FAZ league are horrible. Even the pitch on Levy Mwanawasa has been yellowing with each match I watch on TV. Its like we dont know how to look after the grass. In my days all Stadia employed a groundsman who made sure the grass was always green. Shinde, Arthur Davies and even KPF were known for their cushy turf
