THE MMD has accused police of treating Lunte Member of Parliament Felix Mutati with kid gloves and giving him special treatment despite the party notifying the authorities of his status as an expelled member, MMD spokesperson Reuben Sambo has charged.

In an interview yesterday, Rev. Sambo said the party had written to the police on more than two occasions not to allow Mr Mutati to hold party functions as he was an expelled member but the police had continued to treat the parliamentarian with kid gloves.

“We have done everything within our power to restrain Mr Mutati. We have written to the police not once or twice but on many occasions on the status of Mr Mutati being an expelled member but they treat him with kid gloves.

‘‘But If Mr Mutati is special to the police, he is not special to us and whatever he will encounter at the hands of the MMD members will be his fault,” Rev. Sambo said.

He accused the police of letting Mr Mutati freely conduct his activities which he described as ‘‘criminal’’ despite the party having written to all police commissioners in the 10 provinces.

Rev. Sambo said what the Lunte parliamentarian was doing was a crime as he had continued to use party structures as well as the party name despite being an expelled member.

“The using of party structures and the MMD name by Mr Mutati is a crime as he is an expelled member and his days are numbered. Everyone has a day, and his day is drawing closer,” he said.

Rev. Sambo said manoeuvres being made by Mr Mutati and few of his friends would not destabilise the party or save his dwindling fortunes. And Rev. Sambo said the olive branch which the party had extended to all its estranged members was still open.

He maintained that the party would not hold a convention but would do so after the August 11 general elections as agreed by its national executive committee.
“There will be no party convention. It will only take place as agreed by NEC which is after the general elections,” Rev. Sambo said.

  1. What a nonsensical way of expressing oneself – kid gloves.

Inability to express oneself clearly is Alexithymia

    • :…he is not special to us and whatever he will encounter at the hands of the MMD members will be his fault.”

A man dressed in that high level religious attire cannot say those words. Just shows how mismatched religion and politics is. The ldiot is now preaching violence, while wearing a cross and a collar! What’s happened to the man of the collar? He and his boss Nevers Mumba are a lost bunch. Mutati is not being attacked by the MMD members because he’s their favoured leader.

    • Sambo, Nevers Mumba, Jevan Kamanga, Dan Pule, Moses Lungu, Frank Bwalya, Joshua Banda, Pukuta Mwanza, which god? Ataa!

  2. MMD has so men and women of collar holding senior positions but is ironically rocked with so many divisions.

  3. “But If Mr Mutati is special to the police, he is not special to us and whatever he will encounter at the hands of the MMD members will be his fault,”

Of course, Rev Sambo is implying that Mutati risks being lynched by MMD members from rival camp. A Man of God would not utter such words. Men of God in politics must always lead by example and preach peace. If you’re aggrieved, the best place to sort out such matters is the red-brick building along Independence Avenue, sandwiched between Chikwa Road and Haile Selassie Avenue. These issues will never be sorted out by sending cadres to harm your opponent. In fact, Men of God are peacemakers who should sort out such issues amicably outside court.

  4. Look at this fool! Sambo thinks the police should be fighting his and MMD battles for him? The police just follow the Law and not hallucinations. You lost the court case and you expect the Police to be listening to you!! What FOO.LISH National Secretary this Nsombo is?

  6. Christians can be politicians, but Pastors, Reverends, Priests and Bishops should give up their titles before venturing into partisan politics. Ordinary Christians like myself and senior citizens should be MPs, because we will drag GOD’s name less in the mud.

  7. Kindly take Mutati’s a.ss to court for masquerading as MMD. You mean you can’t handle his a.ss?

  8. I have wondered how mutati found it easier to work with HH who has failed to go for convention for the period which is against UPND constition and start fighting MMD. if Mutati cares about MMD why did he campaign against it in January last year? The fact is Mutati knows that he can’t win lunte because pipo are tired of him now he want a way of surviving by unseating mumba

  9. It’s very clear that Mr Mutati is being sponsored by Mr Rupiah Banda and has the blessings of the PFo remove Dr Mumba and then have an alliance with PF. DR Mumba thought Mr Mutati was working with UPND. It’s a PF RB strategy to deliver a so called United MMD to PF.

  11. The problem with Zambian politics is that the old and tired and failed people continue to dominate our political arena offering nothing else but tricks of how to win elections and or stay in power. Let’s all say no to tired and opportunistic politicians who only align themselves for sharing the spoils after and an election.
