Late President Michael Sata’s son Mulenga said his father’s body is turning in his grave looking at the way the PF has been hijacked.
Mulenga who today announced his defection to the UPND said his late father could never have imagined what is now happening to the party he founded.
He said the decision to leave the PF was a tough, emotional and difficult one to make but stated that it was the right thing to do.
He said morale among party members is now at an all-time low due to what he termed lack of vision.
Mulenga said the PF today is not what it was when late President Sata died in 2014 and that the current PF has been left to the hijackers.
He said the Lungu administration has completely quashed all the economic gains the country made and eroded the investor confidence.
Mulenga observed that the Lungu administration is yet to give a roadmap out of the current economic quagmire.
He also charged that President Lungu does not have a clear understanding of separation of power.
Mulenga said sadly, all what has now been erode by the rising cost of living which has led to increased poverty.
He charged that President Sata’s grand infrastructure programmes such as the Link Zambia, L 400 and Pave Zambia projects have all been mismanaged by the Lungu administration.
And welcoming Mulenga, UPND Vice President Geoffrey Mwamba Bwalya said there is nothing left of the PF since all founding members have already left.
Mulenga becomes the third members of President Lungu’s cabinet to dump the party after Obvious Mwaliteta and Keith Mukata.

Very interesting development. One has to wonder if he would have joined HH had there been another strong party in Zambia. However, although I have great reservations about HH for allowing people of low quality and reputation to join him, it is probably right to say that he is more credible than ECL at this point. ECL has allowed himself to get entangled with politics of the belly, having seized power through highly contentious and undemocratic means. He has a major problem in that Zambian politicians have no qualms about bolting to safe shores when the bread looks better buttered on the other side. RB and Dora Siliya being accepted back, was another blunder. Although the most credible leader at this point is Ms Nawakwi, I see HH winning the next election.

Wow didn’t see that one coming! The UPND invincible and background men are really working overtime to poach potential defectors. This is indeed an election for UPND to lose. Another thing is that with all these defections and endorsements, UPND now has managed to disarm itself and its critics of the ‘regional and tribal’ party. There are now appears to have many Bembas who have either joined or endorsed HH.

Examining the reasons PF defectors have given, there are basically three reasons why they are leaving the party;-
1. They are uncertain whether PF will retain power after 11th August so they are looking for safe landing in UPND
2. They are not happy that RB seems to be in charge of PF and not Edgar
3. They are bitter that Edgar beat them to the presidential race for PF presidency
The reasons being given for defecting are more on the selfish side than on principle which means they are not doing it for the Zambian people.
When Mwanawasa resigned from MMD, he did it the people of Zambia and that is the reason why despite being a Chiluba perceived enemy,he hand picked him to contest the presidency. Such are the defections which shake the nation.
