UPND Spokesperson Charles Kakoma says this follows a productive meeting with ZNBC management this morning.
Mr. Kakoma says his party hopes that the spirit of cooperation with ZNBC will continue throughout the campaign.
This is according to a statement issued to ZNBC news in Lusaka today.
And ZNBC Corporate Affairs Manager Masuzyo Ndhlovu says ZNBC has accepted four out of the six UPND adverts.
Mr. Ndhlovu says the other two adverts had contents which in the view of the cooperation were not suitable for broadcast.
He says ZNBC has put in place an Evaluation Committee to ensure that all authorised contents are devoid of abusive language, insults, libelous assertion and any expression that may be injurious to others and ZNBC’s reputation.
Mr Ndhlovu says the evaluation of political adverts will encompass all political parties participating in this year’s general elections.
He says the corporation is appealing to political parties to identify contact persons that will help ZNBC to efficiently and effectively run the political adverts for both Radio and Television.

This mean UPND cried foul too early!! ZNBC may be inefficient and biased but here it shows that they were trying to promote “clean campaigns” devoid of malice that can lead to political chaos. Let us hope the spirit is carried on till end of campaign period and all political parties subjected to same treatment. Well done ZNBC! It’s disappointing that every state institution in Zambia is not independent and is always bias to the ruling party. When are we going to grow as a nation?
They disallow adverts they see as most effective or damaging to PF. There is nothing about insults, liableus, or standards…..it is the messages they feel are most effective that theyl will ban.
Lusaka, can we arrange to put the banned adverts on line so zambians can see the quality.

In the US Political advert end with this, “My name is ————– and I approve this message”. That way if what is in the advert is libelous, the one who approved the message can be sued. ZNBC could borrow from this, so that those who put up libelous stuff can be sued later. But it is good UPND and ZNBC have sorted out their differences. Way to go ZNBC!

You can imagine if this had happened to pf while they were in opposition. Chishimba Kambwili and others could have just organized trucks and buses of cadres to go and make all sorts of noise at ZNBC. PF, what a perpetual uncivilized political party with uncivilized leadership.
