Zambian Voice Executive Director Chilufya Tayali has maintained that Agriculture Minister Given Lubinda is corrupt.
In a statement, Mr Tayali said Mr Lubinda is a corrupt man who is protected by a corrupt leadership otherwise he should be rotting in jail.
“I have said it many times, that I would rather be a prisoner of walls than a prisoner of conscious. I will not be intimidated by corrupt people. You can steal from Zambians because the system is covering you but I will not pretend that you are not criminals just because I am scared of judge,” Mr Tayali said.
“I have said it, that our courts will not be my conscious in as long as they are under corrupt politicians. I have not yet received the court documents, but I have read in the papers run by certified criminals that I have been sued for damages,” he said.
“What damages does Given Lubinda wants when he has done more damages to the Zambian people through the high prices mealie meal that poor people paid because of his corruption.”
Mr Tayali said he will spend not even a ngwee on Given Lubinda adding that if he has to go to jail for telling Mr Lubinda of the damage he had done to Zambians through corruption, so be it.
“I will also not stop to write about these corrupt people since all the institutions which are supposed to fight corruption are not doing their job making people like Lubinda to look like gentlemen yet they are criminals,” he said.
“I am talking to your (corrupt people) conscious to think of the sufferings you cause to others through your bad actions. You know I am not the criminal here, you are so why even ask for damages.”
Last week, Mr Lubinda dragged Mr Tayali to court for libel and defamation.
Mr Lubinda sued Mr Tayali for alleging that he intended to be United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema’s running mate.
According to a statement of claim filed in the High Court, Mr Lubinda claims that Mr Tayali caused the broadcast and publication of the defamatory words against him after he issued a press statement.
He argued that the said words were published online and on social media after Mr Tayali posted the said words on his Facebook account.
Mr Lubinda claims that Mr Tayali issued a statement which was titled “Lubinda positioning to be HH’s running mate and that another post titled ‘Lubinda eludes UPND, while Mulenga Sata plays fool’ was also published.
He further contended that the said articles were false, malicious and intended to injure his reputation.
Mr Lubinda also argued that, if not stopped, Mr Tayali will continue to publish and broadcast similar defamatory statements of his character.
Mr Lubinda claims for damages for libel contained in the article, damages for slander contained in the live press conference broadcast at Hot FM Radio on April 27 and general and exemplary damages for defamation of character.
He also claims for interest at the current commercial bank lending rates, an injunction restraining the defendant from further publishing or broadcasting the said similar defamatory words and any other reliefs which the court may deem fit and costs.
Hmmm…. Tayali please continue exposing the lot of them. You should name and shame them.

This is exactly what this opportunistic young man Tayali is doing by living dangerously. It all looks like there are some people planning to stand on the Kabwata constituency seat that have paid him to malign Hon. Lubinda. But then there is a limit to how far you can go with opportunism.

Lubinda, you used to inspire a lot of people but that position of minister of agriculture has more than exposed you. You are leaving behind a dysfunctional agricultural sector which you are about to handover to South African, a business which is supposed to up lift the lives of many poor rural Zambians. That is criminal to say the least the level of incompetence you have shown in running the said ministry.

Quite strange that Lubinda has sued Tayali over something irrelevant. One would have expected the so called Mr Clean to sue Tayali over more serious allegations regarding FRA maize. I suspect there’s some substance in the FRA allegations. That’s why he hasn’t sued.

I totally agree with you! Lubinda even stole money (in foreign currency) from Chikuni Jam factory where he used to work in the 1980s – 90s and that’s how he was fired! The chap has a really filthy history of being dishonest and talks too much.

The fact is that some jealous people wanted to have that position to get eat money from the cooperative. After given was kicked out,..those people brought the cooperative down by eating the money.

Wynter Kabimba & Silvia Masembo even organised public demonstrations for this allegation, have you sued them? Why sue innocent Tayali for Kabimba & Masembo’s sins already in public domain instead of suing for your exposed maize corruption with FRA. I wish lubinda knew how much respect Zambians have for him and how damaging such assertions have been to HH. True or not the damage is there. Going to court is not a solution but telling Zambian who are involved might be of help.

The Chosen One – Agreed. I thought he was going to sue him over allegation of theft and corruption. The case of positioning is really neither here nor there. This is more serious than the case he has taken to court. Lubinda rubbished the allegations as political enemies. But this one is not political enemies it requires clearance.
But what is contradicting against Tayali is the fact that he calls this regime corrupt which it is and then he quickly reverts to supporting it and calling people to vote for it.
Well Tayali lacks facts and hence he will soon find himself wanting. I would not be surprise to hear someone paid him to say what he has said about Lubinda. It is basically not enough to claim and shout that someone is a criminal and or corrupt without outlining the fact. I know people get excited by hearsay but in this era, we need facts to convince the masses that what we are saying is true and nothing but the truth.
