THE United Party for National Development (UPND) should go ahead and reject the outcome of the August general elections but the Patriotic Front (PF) will humbly accept the new mandate to continue governing and move on, Jean Kapata has said.

Ms Kapata, who is PF elections chairperson, said the ruling party would not sit and mourn with the UPND after their defeat and eventual refusal to accept the results but would continue to govern Zambia because Zambians had resolved to vote for President Edgar Lungu so that he could carry on presiding over the affairs of the country with humility.

Reacting to threats by the UPND that the opposition political party was going to reject the election results on the basis of alleged electoral malpractice, Ms Kapata said the PF was happy that the opposition political party had realised that it would never win the coming general elections.

She said the UPND had correctly sensed humiliating defeat and was preparing its followers to cause confusion by refusing to accept the results but warned that Government would still be in place and would not allow the country to degenerate into lawlessness and anarchy.

She said the UPND should understand that no political leader had the final say on the people’s wishes and desires and that once Zambians had made their decision on who they wanted to be their president; it was not up to any individual to impose himself because such a leader would be illegitimate.

“Even before voting has been done, the UPND is already sensing defeat and they are manufacturing reasons to refuse the outcome of the election results. The UPND knows that they have no chance in this country of ever winning an election and they are preparing to cause chaos but let them know that Government will still be in place and will not allow Zambia to degenerate into lawlessness and chaos.

“Let them reject the results but the PF will humbly accept its new mandate and continue to govern. We shall not sit or join the UPND in mourning their defeat but we shall move on and continue to govern,” Ms Kapata said.

    • PF will get a shock of their lives in August. There is no way Lungu can win, even with rigging.

    • These are tell tale signs of rigging. PF arrogance is because they know what they are doing. They know they will rig. And they know they will use police to quell any complaints.

    • Upnd also know that they will lose the election like always that’s why they’re crying like babies that’s they’re talking about rigging and rigging. Just be ready to lose or win stop promising violence like you’re the final decision makers. Zambia is our only country. If you so called president loses go the convention and pick the electable candidate.

    • Very good! Let UPND focus on their “heavyweights” namely:
      1. Guy & Charlotte
      2. Joel Sata
      3. Miles
      4. ZWD (and its tu ma bitter bloggers)
      5. Sylvia and
      6. GBM (clearly the better of their 2 VPs)

      Thanks

    • They will surely accuse the ruling party of rigging. They are sore losers even before it happens.

    • Kapata, that is very good advice to UPND.
Why look for an excuse when you think people want you to rule.
PF go go go go… You have our mandate.
How do you reject what you have not been given? Zambians are preparing to give mandate to PF not UPND. So if you boycott or reject, reject what?
In the elections it is not aspirants who reject people’s wishes, it the people who reject aspirants.
So if HH is rejected how can he also threaten to reject, reject what?
If you can talk like that, that you will reject if you don’t win, unless you win – then the issue is not with the process but with handling loss.
So Jean is right, mourning with the UPND in their loss will just derail you from focusing on what is important to the people of Zambia.
I think that UPND has enough defectors to help…

    • The criminal is the one who has stolen money from the pensioners and the miners. We will never allow the satanist to rule Zambia. I would rather vote for PF than allowing the devil to rule over my country. Mutati confirmed satanism in UPnd.

just refuse to contest the election so that we go unopposed.

    • RIGGING an election and the WILL OF THE PEOPLE are two different things. Rigging an election is criminal and wicked. Those who will feel cheated by the rigging will be many and have the capacity to engage in unprecedented civil disobedience that will make this country TOTALLY UNGOVERNABLE. DON’T PROVOKE PEOPLE UNNECESSARILY! MAY BE THE OPPOSITION SHOULD JUST START PREPARING FOR TOTAL CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE NEVER SEEN IN AFRICA!

  3. This is dangerous way of talking especially when the electoral process is deemed to be manipulated. UPND are not the only ones against a fraudulent electoral process. FDD is against it and so are many Zambians

    • All opposition political parties must start now to demonstrate to the Zambians and the international community how PF are bent on rigging these elections. All the signs of rigging are clear. You cannot take a rigged election and call it mandate from the people!

  4. If they are so sure of themselves, then why restrict our use of air space? Why use a dubious Dubai based company for ballot papers? Do not take the people for granted, this is not Uganda or Zimbabwe!

  5. Upnd is full of excuses- they know they don’t command the larger part of the nation’s electorate! Their strategy of getting a hodgepodge of political light weights( who supported them last election and lost) has not helped them at all! They should be magnanimous in defeat! Let them eliminate the dead log that has been pulling them down- meanwhile, Umuntu NiLungu!

    • @eddy, You mean the “crowds” that were bussed in from all the 10 Provinces? We know becoz of the unfortunate accident outside Kapiri Mposhi. Are those the “crowds” you are referring to?

    • BUSES!!!
Consider BIG Buses which carry 60 people!
How may of such buses do you need to transport people even as little as 30,000??
for 30,000 people you need 500 BIG buses to transport them @ 60 people per bus.
Now, you are talking of over 140, 000 people, how many buses??
Ba UPND, keep consoling yourselves to feel fictitiously better.

  7. Ms Kapata is sure ACL and PF will rig the elections and retain power. Should ECL and PF lose elections after their rigging tactics ECL and PF is not prepared to handover power. RB, ECZ and PF will co-ordinate govt arms to ensure successful rigging. RG as chief Adviser to Lungu is mobilizing all the required resources to deliver an ECL and PF win thru rigging. If the rigging strategy fails to work ECZ and RB will go into exile. Time will tell!

  8. I really don’t understand the thinking of the UPND leadership. Winning an election is not about dominating all radio stations and private tv stations and bragging about how good your leader is in running the economy of the country. The leadership of the UPND doesn’t know how to connect with the ordinary man/woman on the street. They simply don’t make sense to the common man. That is why they can welcome even people like Nevers thinking that may be he can help them to start making sense. The answer still remains that UPND will win southern province 95%, western province 50%, northwestern province 60%, central province 45% while PF will win Lusaka province 85%, Eastern province 98%, Muchinga province 98%, Northern province 98%, Luapula province 99%, copperbelt province 88% and central…

  9. Imwe, there is no basis or indication whatsoever that Kachema and UPND will ever win general elections in Zambia. Am sure if you go countrywide on the ground, HH and UPND is only known in Southern Province and some parts of North Western, the rest is Edgar Chagwa Lungu and PF and this is the truth.
Copperbelt is still a rockbed and stronghold for PF because even our miners who may have lost jobs due copper price issues know very well that President Lungu is doing everything for them to be back in employment and this Kachema who is only heard during elections and is responsible for selling all the mines and privatisation which sent most of our parents to early death, there is no way Copperbelt can vote for HH the killer, NO, NO, NO.
Lusaka has already decided, its PF and ECL chapwa!!!

  10. Honestly speaking- upnd stands no chance in the coming elections! A Lot of people will vote this time around- not the apathy of 2015 which made hh overgrow his ego thinking that he’s popular- nega nega 2016! Umuntu NiLungu!!!

    • HH CANNOT FIX WHAT IS NOT BROKEN. ZAMBIA IS NOT BROKEN!!!
I am one of those people ready to vote for PF. I know of many others.. We cannot wait to vote and show that we formidable and show UPND that they are no match. When the going gets tough, PF gets tougher. The onus is on UPND as challenger. They must show why they should voted in. HH cannot fix what is not broken.

  11. Guy scott, George Mpombo, Namulambe etc, you can fool some people sometimes but you cannot fool all the people all the time hence Zambians will not forever be fooled by nomads wandering from one political party to another. UPND will never win the elections because of egoism and horrible tendency of self-promotion but think of yourself with sober judgment.

  12. Upnd its supports are in their own world forgive pipo of Zambia. Even their 10 points is what the pf doing eg electrify Zambia when pf has made possible for villages to have power @ 150.

  13. You are right,
10 points of UPND is merely a subset of what PF is already doing.
PF is doing far more than the 10 points listed by UPND.
The UPND would not have listed those points if they were accepting reality.
They would have known that those 10 points are already being done by PF.
The problem is that UPND does not see any thing PF is doing, even when they are driving on the road PF has made they cannot see; they will just drive.
Hence listing what PF is already doing and presenting it to the people.
And, now what happens? The people are shocked at what is happening.
It is like someone in the village, who has never used a phone, makes a simple land-phone receiver now, and runs to town to announce that he has invented a gadget – people will just look and wonder because they…

Such is the story for UPND – quite sad!!

  18. Jean Kapata is a political midget who does not appreciate that an illegitimate election win will bring about political instability in Zambia. Its in the interest of both Lungu and RB to have uncontested elections in Zambia. Outright stolen elections will make Zambia ungovernable. The economy is dire straits needing foreign assistance from the likes of IMF. Foreign financial assistance will not come if there is political instability arising from stolen elections. RB and Lungu should be mindful of this as they seek to rig these elections. Zimbabwe next door is a good example of the consequences of rigging elections. No foreign financial assistance will come to an illegitimate regime in Zambia.

Today i was with 1 upnd frien in Lusaka town then he saw a lot of poor zambians in PF caps,T-shirts while pushing “IFIBALA”,THEN HE TOLD ME THAT I GET SHOCKED SEEING HOW POOR ZAMBIANS LIKE PF AND EDGAR LUNGU DESPITE THE FACT THAT THEY ARE SUFFERING!!!THEN HE OPENLY TOLD ME THAT ITS TRUE THAT HH CANNOT BEAT EDGAR LUNGU ON 11/08/2016 BECAUSE PF IS STILL VERY STRONG AND THAT MANY POOR ZAMBIANS DO NOT FEEL CONNECTED TO HH’S UPND!!!this is very true because even if you hate PF,you can easily tell that PF will win more than 6 provinces,i.e;Lusaka,CB,Luapula,Northern,Muchinga, and Eastern.PF WILL BE NUMBER 1 IN THESE PROVINCES WHETHER HH LIKES IT OR NOT!!SO “UMUNTU NI LUNGU-2016!!GO PF GO!!

  23. Election results can only be accepted if the elections are free and fair. If the playing ground is leveled. How can you accept results if ZNBC is only showing LUNGU’s boring adverts as if he is competing with himself.Electrol Commision of Zambia has refused to extend voter verification exercise even after emloying underqualified PF cadres in UPND Strong holds who made a lot of errors in typing voters details. Most people will therefore be denied the chance of voting. ECZ is pleasing PF by printing ballot papers in Dubai. How can you accept results like that? PF should not even wate time thinking that UPND expects them to care if results are not accepted, the suffering. How can they care if this unfairness is to their advantage. PF should remember that only 47% voted for Lungu. 53 were…

  24. Iwe Jean Kapata, you must grow and learn to be civil in the way you table out your views and opinions. Just from the way you put up things, it is not wrong to conclude that you are an arrogant and very disrespectful person and it’ s not wrong to suggest that you cannot survive without politics because that is your only way of making a living. Zambia came into being 50 years ago and and at that time, there was no PF. Your party has just been in power barely 5 years ago but the sufferings it has caused to the many ordinary Zambians is quite unimaginable. Surprisingly, you are not even ashamed and you still have the energy to brag about arrogantly f00ling those who have to struggle in order to let ends meet. Woman you are f00l and assuming that you were in close range, I could blow you…

  26. This Kachema thinks he is popular in the entire nation, he is very dull. Infact GBM has gone there to destablise his party to add more misery and he is just looking at him thinking that his party is growing. They have now surrendered the party to the useless defectors while Garry Nkombo and Jack Mwiimbu watch helplessly.
