The UPND in Southern Province has dispelled social media reports that its former Kalomo MP Request Muntanga had died.

UPND Provincial spokesperson Kandindi Phiri said Muntanga is still admitted at the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka and his condition is stabilizing.

He said Muntanga’s brother in law Francis Hakayobe visited the veteran MP in hospital Thursday afternoon and that his condition is improving.

Mr Phiri said that it is unfortunate that some people are wishing Mr Muntanga dead when they were supposed to sympathize with his family.

He further asked the nation to put Muntanga’s family in prayers.

Mr Muntanga is admitted at the UTH after he suffered a stroke.

He reportedly fell ill shortly after he came back from Kitwe where UPND launched its manifesto for this year’s elections.

Social media was this morning rocked with rumours of Mr Muntanga’s death after suffering a stroke following the party’s decision not to readopt for the Kalomo Central seat.

Meanwhile, UTH officials also confirmed that Mr Muntanga is still admitted to UTH and that his condition is now improving.

  1. @Spaka like lilo

I must be mistaken but PF was not formed then at the time of Mazoka’s death

    I stand to be corrrected.

  2. These are the people who celebrated when MCS died. For me this is good riddance coz i dont give a damn. Let the burger do a kaput after all its friday today

    • This is not bloging. It is stupidity. Would like such things sid about you.
You are no different to those you are calling names

  3. how can a normal person wish someone dead .death is the lord”s secret everyone will pass through death according to the bible u might go before the one u are wishing.

  4. Muntanga does not do much to help is health. Seriously, who gets that fat these days? Even GBM looks fitter than him!

    • Good observation, some people are over weight and yet they do nothing about it. I wish we could carry out a national wide campaign to create awareness. There are people who think that being too fat is a sign of being “well to do”

  5. These constituency seats are not personal-to-holder. How can someone suffer a stroke for not being adopted! Strange things truly happen only in Africa. This is the reason I have negative regards for most of these so-called professional MPs. Theirs is just to milk the nation. There should have been a term limit in our constitution for one to hold a seat as member of parliament. We have witnessed a lot of corruption in the adoption process both in UPND and PF this time around. Adoption has now become very big money spinners for Party Chairmen for Elections and Party Secretary Generals. Others were pledging their full gratuity just to be re-adopted. What a crazy Zambia we are living in!

  6. HH has sacrificed him so now the blood of Request who made a request to be MP is no your head and hands….we wish him quick recovery if he had been adopted he would have been well after all the sacrifices he made for the party the reward was to set him aside…ok we see what a caring party HH leads

  7. A lesson perhaps the UPND should learn going forward. Waiting for important decisions like adoptions causes severe stress and consequently health issues like stroke. There was no need to release names of adopted candidates piecemeal thereby increasing the stress levels of those whose names were delayed.
Going forward, UPND must learn to release names on the same day for all candidates – that will be fair to all. Also, there is no need to subject members to anxieties about a running mate. This should be done way before the filing date. UPND should learn to be open with decisions – this is not a Business but a Public interest!!

  8. I can only wish him quick recovery. We need a vigorous but sensible opposition in a democracy like ours. Our President, ECL, did not waste time in announcing his running mate because right from the onset he new what the constitution demanded for this year’s elections. The UPND were groping when grade 12 issue was being implemented and now again the running mate issue is equally giving them a headache. WHAT A PARTY.

  9. Bottom line his death will not add anything to your miserable lives. Just worry about your own death.

  10. LETS PRAY FOR REQUEST MUNTANGA’S QUICK RECOVERY. THERE IS NO NEED FOR NAME CALLING ITS HUMAN FOR ONE TO FALL ILL. THE PROBLEM WITH HUMAN NATURE IS WE FEAR FOR NOTHING. WE MUST REMEMBER THAT IN LIFE THERE IS TIME FOR EVERYTHING. HOW CAN ONE IN HIS NORMAL SENSE SUGGEST THAT REQUEST’S BLOOD HAS BEEN SACRIFICED. FOR WHAT REASON. WE MUST NOT FORGET TO BE READY TO DIE AT ANY TIME. WHEN ONE IS BORN IN THIS WORLD WE DO ALL SORTS OF THINGS. OTHERS DO WELL WHILE OTHERS DONT IN LIFE THEN FINALLY WE FADE OFF OR SIMPLY DIE. I AM SURE WITH THE RIGHT MEDICATION AND CARE REQUEST WILL PULL THROUGH. ITS JUST NOMAL FOR ONE GO THROUGH A MENDING PROCESS. AISHA GET WELL SOON AND PRAY FOR THE FAMILY OF REQUEST TO BE STRONG AT THIS TRYING MOMENT WE ARE WITH YOU IN SPIRIT.

  11. Request Muntanga, whilst you are gasping for air in UTH , HH has sold the party to PF ! All your efforts have been disregarded in preference for these tycoons
