The ruling PF has swiftly moved to dispel reports that President Edgar Lungu has taken a three-day leave from campaigns due to poor health.
Social media reports indicated that President Lungu is unwell and has asked the party to excuse him from a gruesome campaign schedule.
The message quoted PF Secretary General Davies Chama.
“Kindly take note that His Excellency President Edgar Chagwa Lungu has taken a short break from campaigning till further notice. All other party members are however encouraged to continue with the party activities and will accordingly be informed of the development and the venues for the President’s next political rallies and activities.
The president will however continue working normally inside State House and all being well he may address some meetings this weekend as will be advised. We thank you all for the massive support you keep giving the PF and our Republican President Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, ”the message read.”
But Mr Chama dismissed as false the statement and accused the UPND of circulating and manufacturing the rumours that President Lungu has taken a three day break off the campaign.
“After our stadium launches, and a successful filing of nominations, our opponents are desperate. We are coming like a tornado,” said Mr. Chama.
“The President is working hard. Her Honour the Vice President is in Central Province, teams are going everywhere. We are coming,” said Mr. Chama.
President Lungu’s last public appearance was on Sunday during a Church service at Kabundi United Church of Zambia congregation after officiating at the Copperbelt mega rally in Ndola on Saturday.
Even last time during campaign the man had to rest for some days.

I understand that actually ECL had thrown in the towel citing UPNDs so bery organised and aggressive campaigns and then Davis Chama quickly released a press briefing that he has taken 3 days off in order to in the meantime convince him to go back on the campaign trail. It had to take Inonge Wina to convince him back. Edgar complained that PF leaders who are supposed to be campaigning are only preoccupied with misappropriating campaign funds and saying they are getting ready to leave office with some money at least. Meanwhile campaigns are being starved.

With premarked ballots already printed in favour of ECL, foreigners coming to vote and all the rigging machinery set there is no need to campaign anymore. Point 1 Cattle – in accounting circles cattle are not assets unless they are bought. If they are bred they are simply inventory. Therefore point 1 is blown out the water!!
Point 2 Real Estate – HH owns or is a shareholder in a number businesses, that is to say that his asset is the share in the business as it is priced. He himself doesn’t own the land or the houses or the buildings. In simple english as you seem simple, they are not his assets they are the assets of the businesses.
