    • Try BBC-Focus on Africa, France24 – THEY reported that THIS MORNING…learn to “search” for zambian News on the i-net bambo 🙂

    • Could someone tell me how much some mining companies (so called investors) are owing ZRA in unpaid tax? Why haven’t ZRA closed them up?
      – And how much is ECL owing ZRA on his personal 23+ million investment? Furthermore, the big question is, ” – Where did this money come from so suddenly”?
      – Where is has the money come from for the ‘Tree dressing Chitenge’ when some homeless Zambians cannot even afford a cheap salaula clothing?
      – What is the motive behind the closure of the only independent press?

    • ZRA should tell the Zambians how much Times of Zambia and Daily Mail owe the institution. Whether public or private tax obligations should be honoured without exception!

    • @Ichalo lifupa: MY BORTHER, INSTEAD OF COLLECTING TAX FROM THE MINES, THIS GOVERNMENT OWES THE MINES MONEY ON TOP AND ABOVE OF GIVING THEM FREE ELECTRICITY. MWANAWASA ABOLISHED THE DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENTS (DA’S) THAT GAVE THE MINE COMPANIES MORE THAN 20 YEARS OF TAX HOLIDAY; IN ADDITION HE INTRODUCED WINDFALL TAX BUT THE SUBSEQUENT CORRUPT GOVERNMENTS, IN PARTICULAR RB, REMOVED THE WINDFALL TAX. CHINESE COMPANIES DON’T PAY TAXES AND THEIR EMBASSY INTERVENES WHENEVER THESE COMPANIES ARE TAKEN TO TASK. HERE IS A SO CALLED PRESIDENT OF ZAMBIA FEELING GOOD TO CLOSE A COMPANY THAT EMPLOYS 1500 CITIZENS. HE ALSO FAILED TO PROTECT THE JOBS OF MINERS ON THE COPPERBELT. KUYA BEBELE. WE CANNOT AFORD TO CONTINUE WITH THIS DISASTER CALLED LUNGU.

  1. Which Zambian government is this gutter media outlet LT has quoted referring to?

ZRA is not the Zambian government.

    • Mu Zambia nabo!!! There are alot of companies that have gone down due to the non payment of tax. As an employee, i pay PAYE every month why shouldnt the Post pay. Lets be objective people.

  2. Government and politics are complicated if HH and UPND are in supporting cheating and tax evasion how are they going to run the government. It is sad Guy Scott and late president Michael supported this criminal act by Fred and the post newspaper and he awarded them with a lot of political appointments. Fred Mmembe has made it harder for our politician to govern and to actually solve problems, the post ended up worshiping Michael SATA.

  3. In Zambia, we like twisting things. The same Post Newspaper used to write that the Government of Zambia was broke and yet they were one of those that contributed by not paying Tax. Fellow bloggers, you are the same people suggesting that the Economy of Zambia was not performing well as the revenue base (GDP) was reducing. Now that ZRA, which is a Government Agency is endeavouring to collect as much Tax as it can, you are now twisting stories. Instead of you people encouraging Uncle Fred to be paying what is due to the Government, you are there encouraging him to do the opposite. The same Zambian Constitution says, the Citizens are obliged to pay Taxes.

    • What has shuting down the post archived?? Laying off more workers??

If it was revenue ZRA was intrested in they should have negotiated a payment plan.

    • Stolen post.. Good analysis my guy…..In Zambia, we like twisting things. 4. I have been telling you that Lungu has has destroyed Zambia’s image abroad. Almost every news on Zambia is about violence or bad things. Lungu is a curse on Zambia and he should be removed from power. Shame on the corrupt Lusaka Pente bishops and prophets and apostles who are supporting him.

    • Which image. Actually he is making a positive impact by sending a word that no one is above the law… Why didn’t the media cry foul when ZRA was on Amcor security…. Mmembe Must pay…. in the meantime, I am just from checking on my voters card and its safe. My vote is for Lungu. Vote for sanity…

  5. This Charles Mafa is biased and misrepresenting facts.
You cant want independent judiciary and accuse government when you judiciary is working. This has been long standing an issue and we knew it was at Supreme Court. What surprise, come on

  6. This is a useless private international media because it needed to get a Government position on the matter to balance up the report because Charles Mafa was just expressing his personal opinion on the issue…

  7. Zambians must be vigilant of some of these private international media which have no objectivity in their reporting…

  8. so y all of u not pay the tax for post this has nothing to do with any one it is the post who has failed to pay

  9. Vote for upnd and HH bane. Imagine a life with no pain of paying tax and paye. Wow!
Malabishi yekaka. One of the interviewee on this useless intl report by the name of Hambote she is in support of Fred not paying taxes. Tongas as usual.

  10. “THE POST MANAGEMENT, month after month deducted PAYE and other taxes from its own Workers”. WHERE DID MANAGEMENT TAKE THE MONEY? Did they steal from their own workers?

Whilst the Post Newspaper was sued by the ZRA for defaulting remittance, it should have been equally charged for illegally using PAYE and VAT. Non-compliance is a criminal offence.

  11. Wait BAfikala ba PF twamwainyela po efyo mwalainyela this year.It will be like GOD punishing you for all the sins you ve been commiting in all the 5 years you ve been in power in one day.D DAY is cominig.Zambia will ve a total blackout, the entire country,as was in stone age. These International Media are highly influential,They influence Britain, they influence America,They influence the UN,The World Bank, including the IMF where you expecting help from.wait till that day comes when all these countries and companies pull out of Zambia in one day and put you on sanctions.

  12. Only yesterday, the PS Local Govt is on record saying GRZ owes water utility companies billions to his shame, why are they not shutting them down?

  13. If there was ever the stupid thing to do by PF,closing down the post was total foolishness. No one really was thinking they dreamnt and acted on their dream, and then they drowned. Here is my other prediction,Big International countries,Companies and Agencies funding Zambia will now start individually giving instructions to Zambia to stop the madness or they make you suffer.Watch the news from next week what. And then very soon also riots will begin to break out in all corners of Zambia. The Big one tho will when these international companies start pulling out and stop funding Zambia which depends on foreign aid even to jst build a simple road.Remember the Eurobond is foreign money,IMF is foreign,so you owe then big time nongs.

  14. Lets just pay K56 million, government intuition are not suppose to pay, but the post is for an individual. so those who want the ZNBC to pay tax are mad and they dont think they are under 5

  15. International Media? I have never heard of it, besides it has no bearing on our internal affairs. The Post MUST JUT PAY AND STOP BEING ARROGANT! M’membe is a lost sheep and has no influence on Zambia’s political landscape. The Post tried very hard to prop up its friend Wynter Kabimba but we the Zambians ignored it to the core with a deafening BIG NO and now he has jumped to his long sworn enemy called HH hoping he will achieve his goal but the truth is President Lungu IS OUR BELOVED PRESIDENT AND WILL GOVERN ZAMBIA FOR THE NEXT TEN (10) SOLID YEARS, HEAR THIS, OKAY?

  16. @manomambulwa : the mining issue is complex. The western powers hoodwinked us in believing that selling our mines would benefit zambians greatly, but the result is that we are being held to perpetual ransom
At one time my mine management called us to discuss the question of windfall tax and asked us to explain to the government that this would lead to mass redundancies
