FORMER Home Affairs Minister, Lameck Mangani, who campaigned for for the UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema last year has now warned Zambians against changing the country’s Republican President on August 11th .
Mr Mangani said that it would be a disaster for people to vote out President Edgar Lungu because he has proved to be a good leader.
Speaking on a live radio programme dubbed ‘Political Hour’ on Breeze FM yesterday, Mr Mangani stated that Zambia’s current economy was fragile and needs a leader like President Lungu to put it back on track.
He explained that although UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has an economic background, it would be wrong for Zambians to think that he could resolve challenges facing the country because he has no experience.
“I have spent the last one year reflecting on his political position and came to a conclusion that President Lungu has performed well despite the country facing economic challenges,”he said.
Mr Mangani described as sad a situation where some people want to make political mileage from his financial problems.
He dismissed reports suggesting that he has run bankrupt and that this was the reason why he has decided to support the Patriotic Front(PF)Government.
Mr Mangani called upon people in Eastern Province to support President Lungu adding that traditional leaders in Southern Province were supporting Mr Hichilema.
He stated that easterners also need to realise that it would be very difficult for Zambians to entrust them with presidential powers in future if President Lungu loses since former president Rupiah Banda was also voted out after running the country for a very short time.
Mr Mangani charged that most critics of President Lungu were full of hate and jealous considering that they were not picked to run the country by late president Michael Sata.
He also warned Zambians to be critical when voting stating that people need to critically assess presidential running mates as they would have almost the same powers as the president if they win elections.

Lameck Mangani is deeply broke. What happened was that he stood to contest as an MP but lost after sacrificing his only lodge to Adada Bizwa Johabbie. Now that the UPND never adopted him he has decided to rejoin the party he insulted. These are political prostitutes.

The political scene is and ought to change now. It is no longer about political party names but the drivers behind initiatives. It is inconceivable now in the 21st Century that nomadic politicians who wreck havoc where they left can now suddenly be saints. We have tried this experiment long enough and surely must be wiser now. Let’s begin to look closely at what individuals’ track records and trends are so that we now bring in quality leadership. The votes that UPND garnered in 2015 from Eastern and Northern Province will NOT be there in this August elections. Flip flopping is not good in life and lead t dementia of reality. I used to admire Mangani back in the days especially after I worked with him. But his political careers has exposed him as a man of principles and directions. Yes today he can support EL and it is not strange, it just makes us wonder what these type of men stand for. He dumped his brother Nyama Soya when he sensed the wind of change, unfortunately he lost Chipata central and since then he has just been flip flopping without proper direction. It is a pity that most of these people can never even work anymore apart from seeking opportunities and favors in politics. What a waste of man!

I’m pure Bemba. My vote is reserved for HH. bEMBAS ARE NOT tribalists. I have seen the economy deteriorate and will not hesitate to try other candidates based on tribe.

@Abene ba Nyekese, just vote for what is gud for you why identify your tribe do you think it carries weight. Call what ever you want & others they will call you what ever they want. It is shows that you are a tribalist. With me I’m a pure Bemba I will vote for Lungu & Madam Innonge (both are not bembas). With HH he has GBM ( bemba) as a running mate.
After reflecting on the way bloggers comment on the topics on this platform, i realize that it is high time we stop thinking about a party for once because we never agree on anything. There are very few bloggers if any that actually comment on merit otherwise most of us are just cadres. Unfortunately, whatever we post, it has minimal if no impact at all. Can’t we for once give each other a break by commenting on issues without insulting because we know ourselves and who we support?
