UPND President Hakainde Hichilema has stressed the need for government to open up Western Province to business and investment in areas such as agriculture, tourism and value addition industries.
Speaking today when he addressed three campaign meetings in Sikongo village in Sikongo Constituency, Lukona village in Kalabo Constituency, and Muyaulula village in Liuwa Constituency, Mr. Hichilema committed to fighting disease among livestock and improving the quality of cattle breeds so that farmers can secure more profit.
Mr. Hichilema further called for the setting up of border and warehouse facilities in areas such as Sikongo so that the country can export cashew nuts, beef, rice, fish and agricultural produce to neighbouring Angola.
He also said there is a need for a good airstrip facility in areas such as Sikongo along the border with Angola as a way to open up the area along the plains to the tourism industry.
The UPND leader committed to engaging the traditional leadership across the country to open up land for ranching facilities and thereby create jobs for the local people, especially youths and women.
ADD President Charles Milupi called on the people of Western Province not to miss out in joining the mass movement uniting behind the UPND leadership.
Mr. Milupi said the people of Western Province must never be deceived by the PF Government that all the promised projects have been implemented.
He said even the Mongu -Kalabo road was not a PF project but was started by the previous government.
Good turn out and a lot of enthusiasm among the crowds. If they go and vote in such numbers HH and UPND are winning in WP. Lungu’s rigging machinery will be under severe test. He now has to rig every Province which is not easy. Lungu should accept that people have rejected him and his visionless, violent and corrupt regime. Forward with HH and UPND.

There’s no contest in WP. UPND is winning hands down there. And the Malozi will not kill each other or anybody else for that matter to prove this. Why do people lie in order to get votes? No one said the PF had completed all the projects. Kapata was in Western province and talked about plans government had of opening up the area on the border with Angola to tourism. Just give credit where it is due. The MMD started the Mongu Kalabo road but failed to build it. PF took over and reduced the cost of building the road by procuring materials for building the road and within five years, it has been completed.

How are you going to OPEN UP Western province when your presidential running mate is promising to ABANDON Infrastructure projects (such as roads) which are the catalyst to opening up any area for any significant amount of economic activities. Even if you were to build a first class airstrip/airport in Western province, tourists will still need to travel/drive to their final destinations of interest. So without good roads, tell me how this airstrip is not just going to turn into a WHITE ELEPHANT?

This shows that UPND is short on messages this time they were in Western Province! The most expensive road so far built in Zambia has just been completed there. Mr.Milupi,it does not matter who planned it but it counts more for one who implements the plan as we can’t be starting new things and abandoning old ones just to claim personal or party glory at the expense of the country! There are many road projects planned in all provinces some as far back as UNIP days including the Mongu – Kalabo what matters is doing them! This Govt. has already relaunched the rice and cashew nuts projects to go in tandem with infrastructure development. It has supported fish farming projects .Rivungu canal is under construction to easy water transport,power projects are planned etc.. Please something new..!!

Reminds me of HH the other week in Chipata. At a rally HH telling my mbuyas that if elected he would ensure that a peanut butter factory was constructed in chipata to process their groundnuts. The crowd burst out laughing and HH thought he had driven a point home. The very next Tuesday PF was opening a peanut butter factory right where HH had driven padt!
