UPND president Hakainde Hichilema has called on the Church in Zambia to lead in rebuilding peace and healing divisions that have been created in the country.
‘This Sunday we focus our prayers on those who were injured and lost their lives on Friday, along with their family and friends. We pray that God will comfort them during this terrible time and we pray for an end to violence,’Mr Hichilema said.
As campaigns are paused in Lusaka by the ECZ we appeal to the Church bodies to once again hold a meeting to lead in rebuilding the peace and healing the divisions that have been created in our nation.
My appeal to you this morning is as you go to Church today and spend cherished time with your loved ones please remember and share the message that we are calling for peace and that we condemn any act of violence, regardless of provocation. We are all Gods children, and as his children the life he has given us is sacred.

It is about time! Glad for a change he wants the church to help unlike in the past when he used to laugh at such things.
These 1mbeciles armed the cadres to wedge war with police who are trained to handle the fire. They lost the battle and a life and now they want to sound like they are innocent and police was in the wrong. Where was hh when the his cadres were firing live at the police. I wish he is the one that was shot dead. Next time you plan another violence make sure you put your son in the line of fire.
We cannot have lawlessness in thís country. What happened on Friday is what UPND leaders have always been saying, that they’ll take the law in their own hands. The loss of life is regrettable, but stop pretending as if you’ve not been planning for lawlessness for many months…….you’ve been saying it and it’s in the public domain. There is no way one party is going to be very violent with the PF, FDD, Police and ordinary citizens and still claim to be peaceful. They are crying rigging and yet they have registered children who are underage in S/province to vote in the forth coming elections. We’re voting and PF will go through.
It good to see that you guys who are being paid by PF to post negative things about HH are doing their job, get their money but just know that people who have access to Lusaka time are educated and can make up their minds as to who is the best president for Zambia, my advice to the guys paying you is to spend more time and money on the ground where the uneducated are who can easily believe your propaganda. I for one know that you do not mean what you saing but money is making you say these things, how about the fact that after the elections you will not be needed and you will, with all your relatives have to put up with the hard ships that comes with poor leadership like the one we have right now under clueless EL.

It’s all good to expect the churches to help heal the rifts in our society, but you politicians should also do your jobs properly. This is why you are elected or why you stand in the first place. It’s a poliician’s job to impart the right values in the people they lead, to desist from double standards, to influence state machinery into feeding the hungry and privoding medi-care. All these things are not the church’s responsibility but the responsibility of political leaders. The church is a parallel institution with other ourposes, but can also help in such matters yes. Fix the political system. This is not a statement directed at HH but at all political players. This is YOUR job.

The PF police cancelled the permitted rally at the 11th hour. The crowds were assembling and ready to March then they were attacked.
HH, GBM , Scott and others have been with us through many elections , only when lungu participates do we witness political murders and shutting down independent media.

When we realize that elections is not a matter of life and death we will guide our followers accordingly. As long as we see political leadership as a right, we will keep fighting everyone opposed to our views but when we see it as service we are asking to offer, we can not fight anybody but persuade them peacefully to give us a chance to lead. Even if it was unfair for police to cancel the rally abruptly, as a leader and matured person who understands the fruits of confrontations, you should have advised your team to heed what police said regarding the rally in chawama. If you had prevailed over your followers, no life would have been lost. Nevertheless Police should be organized, you can’t cancel a rally abruptly during an election season.
Sometimes I fail to understand HH and his followers. When the President had a political rally in Monze, UPND Cadres became unruly and damaged innocent people’s properties. Motor Vehicles were stoned and in as far as HH was concerned, he condemned the President and this was televised by MOVI TV where HH was questing the President why going into HH’s Bedroom. I expected HH to condemn the thuggery behavior of his cadres in Monze. The God that HH is mentioning now is not the God of confusion but peace.
When Lungu goes to church and embraces Church Leaders, you say he is hiding in the Church. When he calls for National Prayers HH and Team dismiss that as an escape from responsibility. Now things are looking favourable to those who keep aligning with the church and HH says the church must help? Now?? We have have just read that GBM,HH’s running mate has already called the church corrupt. So what church are they looking to? Soon we shall know all the Presidential candidates by their true colours and people will make an informed choice because one can not pretend for long and people always remember what has happened to them especially in recent past.
