Secretary to the Cabinet Roland Msiska has announced that President Edgar Lungu has declared tomorrow, Tuesday July 12 2016 a Day of National Mourning in honour of late former Kalomo UPND MP Request Muntanga.

Mr Muntanga, 64, who was also UPND Chairman for Mobilisation died on Friday, July 8th 2016 at UTH and will be buried tomorrow at his farm in Kalomo.

During the period of National Mourning from 06 Hours to 18 Hours, all flags will fly at half-mast and all programmes of an entertainment nature shall be cancelled or postponed.

Mr Muntanga was Member of Parliament from 2001 to 2016 and once served as Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture.
He was also an Executive Member of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) where he was a Treasurer, apart from being a member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

President Lungu has meanwhile described the late Mr Muntanga as a prolific debater in Parliament adding that his virtues should be celebrated by those who seek a career in politics as MPs and that therefore his contributions deserved to be honoured.

    • He should have also included Mapenzi Chibulo in the national mourning. Afterall, he is partly to blame for her death since he is commander in chief for the armed forces.

    • YOUR REMARKS ABOUT LUNGU ARE SICKENING! WHICH LUNGU ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT TO BE HAVING A HEART FOR EVERYONE? ARE TALKING ABOUT THE SERIAL KILLER LUNGU EDGAR WHO LIVES AT STATE HOUSE IN LUSAKA? THANK GOD ELECTIONS ARE HERE, AND WE ARE RETIRING LUNGU ON AUGUST 11. NOW IS TIME FOR HH TO LEAD THIS NATION. VOTE HH. VOTE UPND.

  1. That mapenzi is a moron, what was she doing amongst mad people running along? She allowed upnd to sacrifice her life

    • moreover she stay in chawama where the rally was going to be held and only to be found in town

  2. No my fellow Zambian, Mapenzi, now that she is dead and being buried, does not deserve to be so insulted. That can never be fair and right. LT please try to moderate comments as a sign of responsible press ethics. Such hate speech is deliberately aimed at infuriating UPND and specifically our tonga comrades. It is both cheap and most despicable. I urge all peace loving Zambians to vote for a party that has proved to be consistent in refusing to retaliate inspite of endless provocations. We must reach the 11th August and settle this urgent need to eradicate the ugly head of tribalism and hate speech in our land. Ni Forward chabe, backward never!

Who sired you? You dont insult a dead person who did not provoke you in any way. Are you a Zambian? In our culture, we dont insult the dead, especially that you are just doing it for politics. Cursed is the day you were born including your children if you have or will have any. Repent. How much are you paid you *****?

  4. Parents and guardians, HH is in town campaigning, so lock up your daughters. What was the intention of HH allowing the poor girl in that ill fated procession? Doesnt HH know that such processions by his cadres more often result in violence. Usually the UPND cadres beat up innocent citizen as they did in northmead recently.therefore was it the intention of HH to get Mapenzi to beat up innocent citizens?
We don’t know, so until we are certain the best bet is to lock up your young girls.

  5. Lungu is a confused political opportunist. On Friday he ordered the Police to shoot and kill UPND supporters and indeed killed Mapenzi. On Monday he orders a day of national morning for a former UPND MP who died from a stroke and wants Zambians to think he has a heart. Lungu is a hypocrite and a sadist. People should not be fooled. He is busy manipulating the voters role to win this election. Satanist Lungu should be stopped without fail. Vote for HH and UPND.

sorry you mean the rally was in Chawama only to be shot in town? People lets stay home don’t envlove yourself in this demonstration. Please note.. the policeman is human . He has fears.. when he thinks his life is threatened, He can pull a trigger.
