President Edgar Lungu says the PF government is determined to provide good housing units to men and women in uniform.

The head of state said this in Kawambwa today when he officiated at the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of the first ever Kala Marine Barracks.

President Lungu said government is working at providing decent accommodation for the security personnel.

In another development, President Lungu has directed the Road Development

Agency -RDA- to consider tarring the Kawambwa -Nchelenge road to ease transport problems for marine officers.

Earlier, Deputy Minister of Defence, Christopher Mulenga revealed that in the first phase, the Israelis’ Ashtrom construction company will construct 1,200 houses for marine soldiers at the barracks.

And Speaking at Kasama Airport before departure , President Lungu says the opposition United Party for National Development -UPND- is perpetuating political violence in the country with a view to have next month’s General Election postponed.

The President said it is clear that the opposition does not mean well for the country.

President Lungu said UPND has sensed defeat in the General Election and want to do anything to force the postponement of the polls.

The President however stated that schemes by the opposition party to disrupt the electoral process will not work because Zambians are ready to take part in the general election.

President Lungu has since urged Zambians to reject politicians who want to get into power using violent means.

Meanwhile, President Lungu has described his six day official visit to Northern Province a success.

  1. This goes without saying, it is an imperative. That is what governments should do.
It is like a mother saying I am determined to feed my one week baby with milk. That is expected, that is what parents do.

    • Edgar has dug so many of those holes, but nothing get built. Next time we want to see him open up something, like Mushindo University , Lewanika University or Link Zambia roads.
What a scared man. Things never get exciting when you initiate during campaigns, you just look a foooool.

    • How much kickbacks and backhanders is Chakolwa Chagwa getting out of this? Mr Backhanders does not rise up from his drunken stupor without some cash hitting his account. Also why can’t he get these soldiers a single uniform (they are called uniforms for a good reason)? How many shades of faded red, khaki, and green are allowed in the army? And how many bwatos does the Zambian “Navy” have? How many of these hooligans can even swim for them to claim to be marines?

    • Pro-development leadership at work! Putting public tax to good work. With every tax evaders cornered, every sector will take development. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Don’t even dream of replacing it. More to the people and not tenderpreneurs masquerading with useless 10 bullet points being called their nation Master fixing plan. Decision 2016 has no substitute to this working team because none is equal to the task.

    • Zambian DEFENCES FORCES & OP, take heart & FOLLOW the lead of Zambia ARMY COMMANDER who does not bow & bark for Chagwa – THIS IS A PROFESSIONAL COMMANDER – he KNOWS WHERE HIS ALLEGIANCE LIES – That is in the DEFENCE OF ZAMBIA & ZAMBIANS, & NOT A DRUNK KAPONYA, WHO BY ILLEGAL PARTY MANIPULATION USURPED POWER, AFTER LATE PRESIDENT SATA’s passing; This DRUNKARD KAPONYA WAS DISHONORABLY DISCHARGED FROM MILTEZ!!! That act in itself GOES TO SHOW YOU MEN & WOMEN OF THE DEFENCE FORCES, that we have a VERY UNSUITABLE person standing as Commander-in-chief, A DISHONORABLY DISCHARGED FELON is UNFIT TO LEAD YOU HONORABLE, & PATRIOTIC MEN & WOMEN!!
HE IS at his wits end becoz he has REALISED THAT HIS TIME IS UP, THE PEOPLE, who are YOUR FAMILIES, Grand parents, parents, own children, nephews & nieces…

    • ….. & grand children who ALL LOOK TO A BETTER ZAMBIA, are THE “SUPPOSEDLY ENEMY”, that this THIEF, MURDERER masquerading as COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF, wants YOU TO ENGAGE WITH LIVE AMMUNITION – the ONLY ZAMBIAN COMMANDER IN CHIEF THAT HAS NO QUALMS KILLING HIS OWN PEOPLE, THE SAME PEOPLE THAT GAVE HIM CHANCE TO BE PRESIDENT – But THANK GOD, YOUR ALLEGIANCE IS TO DEFEND ZAMBIA & ZAMBIANS, & NOT THE OTHER WAY ROUND!!

YES, BE DEPLOYED, BUT WHEN THE TIME COMES, YOU KNOW WHO TO APPREHEND & TAKE INTO CUSTODY!!!

VOTE WISELY 11/8/2016!! Vote ZAMBIA FORWARD!! VOTE FOR A UNITED & PROGRESSIVE & PEACEFUL ZAMBIA, ONE DEFENDED BY ITS HONORABLE & GALLANT DEFENCE FORCES THAT SEEK TO SERVE ZAMBIA rather than a LITTLE DRUNK TINPOT DICTATOR!!

      Vote UPND!! Abantu baya!!

      #Chagwamustfall!!…

    • LET ALL KONW THAT THE HOUSING PROGRAMME FOR DEFENCE PERSONNEL IS MWANAWASA’S PROJECT. AFTER BEING ELECTED INTO OFFICES HE VISITED SOME BARRACKS AND POLICE CAMPS WHERE HE FOUND MEN AND WOMEN IN UNIFORM LIVING IN PATHETIC HOMES. AT SINKANZE POLICE CAMP HE FOUND POLICE MEN LIVING IN STRUCTURES MEANT FOR HORSES. HE PROMISED TO BUILD HOUSES FOR THE DEFENCE AND SECURITY FORCES TO IMPROVE THEIR STANDARD OF LIVING. HE INDEED STARTED THE CONSTRUCTION OF HOUSES IN LUSAKA AND OTHER PARTS OF THE COUNTRY FOR THE ARMY, ZAF, ZNS AN THE POLICE. IT IS ACTUALLY AN ON GOING PROGRAMME. LUNGU IS TRYING TO GET CREDIT FOR SOMETHING HE DID NOT INITIATE. IT IS PRESIDENT MWANAWASA WHO INITIATED IT.

    • @1 Misango… Yes when some one is doing their job they need to be loaded bcoz that shows that they are responsible and are actually fulfilling the duty they asked to be employed to do! Nothing wrong for a President or any political leader to take pride in delivering services to the public because they have to feel happy accomplishing what they undertook to do! Even in our respective jobs employers grade our performance and giving corresponding rewards for that! They don’t say “it is your job so no performance bonus”!! That aside, I don’t agree with this project of Barracks when we are not at war with our neighbors and there are many pressing issues that require projects to generate wealth and reduce poverty! How can you think of tarring a road to serve soldiers when you are failing…

  2. Is Edgar Lungu as committed to provide good housing to those Military service members who may not vote for him?

  3. President Edgar Lungu deserves his full five-year term of office, he has attributes of leadership. He has been in power for 1 and half years, the challenges we are facing now as a country, he inherited them from President Sata. But he is mature enough not to betray Sata, by making radical changes, he has to complete what Sata started and begin a new journey in his full term of office. He is not a puppet of foreign interests like HH. Lungu is consistent and resolved, not a flipflopper HH, he is more calm and patient with others, not an emotional, spoilt child, and violent HH. The violence you see in the country was planted by GBM and Kabimba when they were fighting to succeed Sata in PF. HH can put the country on fire because of impatient and blind ambitions, he thinks he is the most…

    • wastefull, liar, killer and drunkard is what vodka chakolwa wrungu can be described…VIVA UPND,VIVA HH 2016

  4. Selfsame AK 47 , get a M16 full auto, serious military weapon.Hope the Congo rebels that attacked the selfsame Louis Linton don’t attack us.Though me as a lazy bu3m will never underestimate the AK47 only that rebels use them a lot.
    I thank you very much

  5. Don’t take this 2016 most incompetent and 1di0tic president of the millennium seriously,he will promise you to build a bridge where their no river.

  6. Chakolwa Kaloba Wrungu specialized in making empty promises, stealing clients money, drinking Jameson heavily and dance mungulu mungulu.

  7. So who is the white guy in the suit?A contractor? What is the cost of this project and what is so called ground breaking about it? How does he direct RDA to construct a road when they have not budgeted it where are they going to money to construct a $1 million per kilometer road. This Lazy Bum is all about kickbacks from overpriced projects.

    • Even constructing of a army barracks you have to outsource an overseas contractor from Israel..no pride whatsoever!!

    • @Jay Jay .. I may not agree with calling Lungu a Lazy.. but I support you clearly on what you have said! Someof these are projects which are supposed to be done gradually as we are not under any military threat from our neighbors. This is a barracks the Zambia Army Engineering Corps with ZNS and some Zambian Companies could have managed to put up patiently but nicely! How can one command RDA to make a road just to service soldiers when there are many priority areas of investment where the money could have been channeled to generate a return and reduce poverty! As he is speaking the pedicle road a mere 70km has been completed in the 5 years that PF has been in power and he wants to start another road for soldiers even when Kashikishi -Lunchinda road is waiting to be tarred!

    • Edgar Lungu is a LAZY MAN…there is absolutely nothing he has done in the 12 months he has been in office but waste funds.

  8. This is veeery discouraging we all need better accommodation and none of the presidential candidates have explicitly talked about how they will cushion the housing shortage we are experiencing as a nation. Not everyone has money to build a house. No wonder these same plots they are corruptly giving have bad road network, bad water network, bad sewerage system because Ministry of local Government and Housing which is not adequately funded and on top of that corruption has deep rooted in the people who have been given the custodian to provide better service delivery to the communities.

  9. I shudder at the low levels of debate that some bloggers choose to engage in- some of it veers right off the course of rationality.

When did caderism become such a deep rooted cancer that ordinarily rational people have now turned to violence, insults and frothing at the mouth to support their candidate?

Whenever PF and President Edgar Lungu commence a development project, we always hear the same sentiments, its always HH can do better. HH will not solve all your problems and neither will President Lungu, HH has had several opportunities to work for Zambia and has at each point put himself above all else – so while we all call him Mr. Fix it, he fixed the mines didn’t he? He fixed Agri-flora and he fixed Sun International and thousands of Zambians lost their jobs, their lives…

    • We have engineers, architects, civil engineers, water engineers, planners at ZNS and we outsource contruction of mere defence homes to Mosad….mind you defence homes in Barracks are mostly prefab. structures.
Surely you do not need to be a cadre to see what a waste this is…why not disclose the project cost of this contruction? We train engineers every year at ZNS and army for what?

  10. Has anyone noticed that the Israeli “investor” has his hand in his pocket. It makes you wonder who is the boss. They come to Zambia and have the temerity to disrespect us. Our country does not need such “crap”.

  11. EPILEPSY AND HIV/AIDS HAVE INDEED RAVAGED THE BRAINS OF THIS EDAGR LUNGU GUY. ISN’T IT LUNGU HIMSELF WHO IS PERPETRATING VIOLENCE IN OUR COUNTRY SO THAT HE BOUNCES BACK TO POWER BY HOOK AND CROOK, EVEN IF IT MEANS TO POSTPONE THE ELECTIONS? ISN’T IT LUNGU WHO IS TRYING TO INSTILL FEAR INTO THE MINDS OF THE ZAMBIAN PEOPLE BY INTIMIDATING THEM WHEN THEY FREELY EXPRESS THEIR SUPPORT FOR THE PROGRESSIVE UPND PARTY? ISN’T IT LUNGU WHO HAS DEVISED MYRIADS OF RIGGING SCHEMES, MOST OF WHICH HAVE BEEN EXPOSED, IN A BID TO FORCE HIMSELF ON THE ZAMBIAN PEOPLE? LUNGU IS A LIAR. ALL THOSE EMPTY PROMISES ARE LIES. KICK THE LUNGU POLIO OUT OF STATE HOUSE THIS AUGUST.

  12. This mentality of outsourcing talent does not benefit Zambia. Thinking white people are smarter than Zambians is far from the truth. In fact in university half the white people were lazy, did not submit assignments on time when projects were due some would not even respond and did not care that it affected your mark in group projects. In the workforce some thought because they’re white skin made them more superior even though they lacked skills and knowledge. Now they know some Africans worship them and come take advantage. It is “leakage” when we hire outside organizations because money goes to their economy and creates jobs for them. We have enough talent in Zambia. Use it!
