Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) Public relations Manager Chris Akufuna has explained that the people who witnessed the printing of papers remained in Dubai because it was not convenient for them to come back in Zambia alongside the two cargo planes, reports Pan African Radio journalist Hermit Hachilonde.

Speaking immediately after the second Etihad cargo plane touched down at 18:45 hours which departed Dubai at 13:10 hours yesterday, Mr. Akufuna said said political players through their representatives on Friday the 30th July, 2016 at 08:00 hours will verify the ballot papers, adding that ECZ will give the observers the documentation that was given to the printing company for ease verification in a transparent manner.

“The witnesses could not come because these are cargo planes, they will come on Saturday the 31st July, 2016″ Mr. Akufuna said

Meanwhile, Rainbow Party representative Patrick Phiri expressed uncertainties in the manner ECZ have handled transportation of ballot papers.

He said the electoral body should have given the stakeholders documents showing exactly what were in the two planes before touchdown in the country, stating that as Rainbow party they only had information that there were sixty-three pallets of the presidential ballot papers.

” we are only complaining that ECZ did not give us the document showing what the two planes brought from Dubai, we are only told that they are 63 pallets for presidential ballot papers” he said

  1. So they remained there-to do what exactly? We sent them their on our tax money & their job was to monitor our Ballot papers & make sure the job is complete.Who spends 6months growing his maize field, harvest time comes,he them sends a middleman to sell all his maize ku FRA.what if that middleman diverts some of the maize, what if he diverts all the gud maize or swaps them around? Now you can clearly see how stupid the observers we sent their are.Have they all been surely bribed by PF.They ll remain there doing what?Shopping with PF bribes meanwhile our ballot papers went to Uganda first, got swapped & then to Zambia becos there was no one to man them. Its a penalty kick with no goal keeper. To make matters worse, the people verifying here in Zambia dont even know what paper & process were used on…

  2. They dont whow what paper & process were used on those Ballots. So also nabo what are they going to verify?U were not there in Dubai to do the monitoring & u dont know what machines did the job & how. What will u verify?Refuse,Boycot, demand that those that were left in Dubai come down to finnish their job. This is madness!!!cant believe this.No one takes Government and its people for fools the way PF is taking Zambians.I cant ask you to wake up anymore,so many calls have been made already & you people are just there seated Ndwiii with no action.Mwanya nivanu ivo,Me am i ve two homes, one overseas,i will migrate when PF wins next month. This is time to act & demand answers.Yet all people can do is just be spectators.Muletamba fye ayi. This is your time to be heard, each voice counts during…

  3. ECZ seems to have their own calendar, WATCH OUT bane.
Normal Calendar shows, that Friday is 29th and Saturday is 30th. So which dates is Akufuna referring to?

Should we have a reason to be concerned or its just a typo ??????

  4. Just bunch of wasteful ***** if I were the President I would have locked these ECZ clowns in a room to come up with a printer locally in the region who was going to print at between $300 – $700,000.

  5. ELECTION NEVER BE RIGGED AT PRINTING BUT AT POLLING SATATION. ANY ONE CAN RIG WHICH INCLUDE OPPOSITION PARTIES UPND, UPP, FDD UNIP. SO EVERY ONE SHOULD WATCH OUT DON’T JUST FOCUS RULING PARTY. Who collected voters cards in Eastern province?

  6. Those ECZ folks ought to be fired immediately. Useless just wasting tax payers money. There is no excuses. There is a direct flight from Dubai every day so ECZ’s story is not adding up.

  7. unfortunately this is Zambia where there is no accountability – all you at ecz, be ready to pack up. we need fresh blood with a different work ethic, atase
