The Road Transport and Safety Agency has urged all Zambians to uphold the spirit of peace and safer road culture as they celebrate the outcome of the General Elections.

In a message from the Agency in Lusaka today, Chief Executive Officer Mr. Zindaba Soko noted that election time was one of critical periods when there was always an increase in human and vehicular traffic that posed challenges to road safety.

Mr. Soko has since called on motorists to sustain peace and consider other road users during the election celebrations.

In anticipation of an increase in traffic, the Agency has deployed adequate road traffic enforcement officers to provide necessary logistics at strategic locations across the country to address safety challenges.

“Let me also use this opportunity to congratulate all Zambians for upholding road safety rules and regulations during the voting day. As an Agency, we want to assure all Zambians that RTSA will continue to work hard to ensure that roads remain safer throughout this period and beyond,” he said.

“Our Call Centre remains open to receive calls from the public in relation to road safety matters for prompt mobilization of rescue operations while our partners and others stakeholders are on alert,” he said.

Mr. Soko has commended the RTSA staff for the commitment they displayed during the General Election by joining hands with other security agencies and Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to carry out the electoral duties most diligently and supporting the nation in the task of achieving its socio-economic goals.

  3. This does not make any sense stopping cadres from celebrating victory. Why did RTSA stop the crazy driving during the campaign period?. RTSA should jack up its operational system or the way of doing things. It was a hot period. RTSA should change the way it does thing. Fight the cause and not the effects.

  4. I agree with Muwerewere, Rtsa has failed to maintain law and order big time during the campaigns, and should not pretend to be doing so now – useless! people were driving cars with the same number plate all over the country, but someone just driving a vehicle with a day expired licence was an issue – shame!
