THE United Party for National Development (UPND) on Saturday evening filed an urgent Court matter to stop the release of the final results and sought to have 3 officials suspended.

The three officials are the Chief Electoral Officer Priscilla Isaac Mulenga, Deputy IT Director Brown Kasaro and IT Specialist Theresa Phiri.

The Lusaka High Court refused to grant a stay to stop the release of results but set Wednesday next week as a day of inter-party hearing.

The petition against the Electoral Commission of Zambia was filed by Martha Mushipe, Lukona Chambers, and Jack Mwiimbu.

They sought Judicial Review Proceedings on Saturday night.

Earlier in the day the UPND wrote a letter claiming that 3 officers it cited in the letter should be suspended by the Commission. in the letter the party also petitioned the ECZ to stop the transmission of election results electronically.

In a letter to the ECZ signed by secretary-general Stephen Katuka, the UPND sought to stop the transmission of results alleging that they were manipulated by unauthorised people

When the Electoral Commission of Zambia(ECZ) did not respond to their letter, the party sought a court order for a judicial review.

The party also sought to stop the 3 officials to act in their capacity.

The party also sought that the release of results be halted until the petition was heard.

But Judge Florence Lengalenga has allowed by the court to hear the matter but refused to stay or grant an Order to have them leave the Commission.

Judge also refused any Order to stop the release of results.

Judge Lengalenga has stated that their should be no interruption in the release of results.

The ECZ has continued to give and release results to the country.

Meanwhile, Patriotic Front (PF) deputy spokesperson Frank Bwalya has wondered why the opposition party is always jittery, especially when results favour the ruling party.

And PF Secretary General Davies Chama has said that it was shocking that the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) is already planning to petition the general elections even before the winner is declared.

Mr Chama said in an interview yesterday that the PF cannot stop the UPND from taking court action over the presidential elections because the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) and the ruling party will defend themselves.

“It is unfortunate that someone is already planning that ‘I will go to court’ even before the announcement of final results. We cannot stop them but the courts will look at the merits of the case,” he said

The latest results after 52 constituencies have UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema in the narrow lead with 514,816 and PF candidate Edgar Lungu with 511,386 in the second place. FDD candidate Edith Nawakwi has 7,440

THE Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has dismissed reports circulating on social media that director Priscilla Isaac has been suspended.

ECZ spokesperson Crispin Akufuna said in an interview yesterday that contrary to the reports, Ms Isaac remains at the helm of the commission.

“You saw her didn’t you? If she was suspended, she would not have been here

How many times has the Pentagon been hacked into by someone who’s in China? I think the Chavula guy was planted by UPND to discredit ECZ. Remember the issue they brought out in the Post that PF had registered Malawians to vote……….well it turned out that UPND was buying voters cards in Eastern province and the same where used to come up with a fake story and arrests of UPND cadres have since been made whilst some are still on the run. Mukose!

    • The point is that we have bad losers in our political system. This is what happens if you keep shoving on your throats veteran ballot rejects who have built a personality cult with no national clout.

    • What else are you people going to try to win an election?

      1) you have chased ecz trucks around, and found NOTHING!

      2) you have accused foreign printing companies (in Dubai) of being collaborators of election rigging, and NOTHING has been substantiated.

      3) you have cooked up lie after lie about imagined foreigners registered by ecz and ready to take part in these elections, yet NOTHING but the sane ions !d!ots arrested and on the run!

      4) planes only paranoid HH and his rabid sycophants can see ferrying in pre-marked ballot papers, oops NOTHING there too!

      5) you have over and over insulted the integrity of ecz like you are the only ones with a stake in these elections, yet your accusations have always yielded NOTHING CREDIBLE!

      6) ETC, ETC, ETC,……

      Now this. Don’t…

    • UPND are complaining that it is taking too long to release the results by the ECZ but at the same time HH is busy interfering at every stage of verification and announcement….so far UPND have only won 44 MPs (PF 93), they have no single MP on the CB and Lusaka (but Chilanga) and STILL THINK that their HH will win….! What kind of reasoning is this?

    • If ECZ is compromised at by high ranking officials especially in the IT Dept then this party has every right to ask for the named officials to be suspended. Lazy Lungu knew all along what he was doing no wonder he kept stating that opposition should accept the results – a smart man can act stupid but a stupid man can not act smart.

    • Just look at Priscilla Isaacs’s last name, Mulenga. No wonder she is so crooked and dishonest. For some of these tribes, the election results are about access to national resources. They will do anything to continue with power. They have already killed Mapenzi and many more.

GIVE Ba PamaFI ENOUGH ROPE TO HANG THEMSELVES!!!!!!! THE LONGER THEY TAKE TO RELEASE, THE FEWER EXCUSES & INCREASED PANIC TO MANIPULATE RESULTS & HENCE INCREASED PROPENSITY TO MAKE MISTAKES!!!

THEIR WINS WILL BE NULLIFIED, BUT WE SHOULD ALSO SEEK TO PROSECUTE FOR DEFRAUDING OF GOVT FUNDS!!!!! THEY HAVE NO DEFENCE FOR HAVING STOLEN THOSE FUNDS – MARTHA PREPARE FOR THAT CASE, RATHER THAN HALTING THE RESULTS PUBLICATION!!!!!!!!!!!

You two gentlemen are hypocrites. When there is a serious issue that borders on law breaking initiated and led by Lungu you choose to shut up and don’t give your ‘clever’ comments.
I am sure you remember the physical violence that erupted at Mulungushi all because Lungu was behind it in order to stop Sampa challenging him for the presidency. Had it not been for that primitive behaviour Lungu would never have been president today. Yambayamba, you even ask the question, ‘What else are you people going to try to win an election?’ This question you did not ask when violence broke up at Mulungushi.
Quite recently a group of your fellow violent PF cadres attempted to endanger an air-borne aircraft by starting fires where it was going to land just…

Negative perceptions, unsubstantiated accusations, bitterness, jealous and envy – the UPND traits to the extreme, will take you to an early grave. Calm down and come back to earth in general and Zambia in particular where the ECZ rules in election matters. The ECZ is one electoral system in Africa that is most experienced. They understand your concerns already. Calm down , we need you in 2021.

    • IT IS SAD THAT IN ZAMBIA PEOPLE AT ALL LEVELS FIND PRIDE IN WRONG DOING. IN VIEW OF THE SCANDAL AT THE ECZ FOLLOWING THE INCIDENT INVOLVING THE STRANGER SAMUEL CHAVULA, IN CIVILIZED AND DECENT SOCIETIES WHERE THEY VALUE MORAL VALUES AND INTEGRITY, THE FOLLOWING WOULD HAVE OFFERED TO STAY AWAY FROM THE ON GOING PROCESS AT ECZ. IN AMERICA DNC CHAIRPERSON, DEBBIE WASSERMAN SCHULTZ, RESIGNED WITHOUT MUCH ADO IN THE AFTERMATH OF COMMITTEE EMAIL CONTROVERSY. IN BRITAIN DAVID CAMERON RESIGNED WHEN THE CAUSE HE SUPPORTED WAS REJECTED BY THE PEOPLE. LUNGU SHOULD HAVE RESIGNED FOLLOWING CONCOURT JUDGEMENT. PRISCILLA I. MULENGA, BROWN KASARO, THERESA PHIRI AND JUSTICE CHULU SHOULD HAVE STAYED AWAY FOLLOWING THE ARREST OF CHAVULA AND THE KANYAMA SCANDAL. IN ZAMBIA THEY CONSIDER THEMSELVES HEROES…

    • I FOUND IT VERY SHAMEFUL AND DISGUSTING THAT AKAFUNA COULD EVEN HAVE THE COURAGE TO STAND UP TO MARTHA MUSHIPE WHO HAD A STRONG POINT AND WHO WAS CHAMPIONING THE RIGHT THING. BUT IN ZAMBIA AS WAS DEMONSTRATED BY AKUFUNA, IT WAS AN HONOURABLE THING TO DO. IT IS MORALLY WRONG. MUSHIPE HAD THE RIGHT TO COMPLAIN ON THE WRONG DOING OF THE COMMISSION.
IT WILL NOT BE POSSIBLE TO DEVELOP OUR COUNTRY IF WE DON’T CHANGE. EVEN VOTERS ARE EQUALLY THE SAME. ON THE COPPERBELT ONE WOULD HAVE EXPECTED THE PEOPLE THERE, GIVEN THE HARDSHIPS INFLICTED ON THEM DUE TO POOR PF LEADERSHIP, TO VOTE AGAINST PF CANDITATES, INSTEAD THEY MASSIVELY VOTED FOR PF FAILURES AFTER WHICH THEY WOULD CONTINUE COMPLAINING AT THE HARD LIFE THEY ARE GOING THROUGH. SHAME!

The Bembas are not involved in this election but because you belong to the primitive mind of tribalism that makes you hate them you want to draw them into your losing battle. You Tongas are fighting Ngonis or Easterners. There are no Bembas involved here. Lungu is partnered with Inonge but you still see Bembas in your stoopidemented mind. You display a “hate all tribes except Tongas” mentality that shouldn’t be in anyone living in the 21st century. Take your shiit to 1994 Rwanda!

Those bloggers you have mentioned were staunch MMD sympathizers just yesterday when that party was in power; then Old man Sata came in – they were highly critical of him. When Sata passed away Lungu took over and continued with the selfsame reckless policies of Sata and invited RB to join him. All of a sudden this lot started supporting Lazy Lungu – this is the type of individuals you are dealing with, at least a Chameleon changes colour to protect itself from Predators.

    • Yes, it is very sad. The trouble with these backward countries is that the incumbents have no defensiable avenue for survival. Their survival–and those of their minions–rests on keys to national resources via crooked politics. So do or die. In the West , politics is a status symbol. Almost every politician has a strong economic base before ascending to politics. With our tin-pot incompetent Lungus, end of political “career” almost shortens life expectancy. Lungu has no track record in anything. He is an accidental misleader, and so he must hook or crook grip on this. Very sad

    • ECZ here is the culprit. People, there’s so much at stake here. The delays, the secrecy, and the refusal to take questions from the public: if this behavior is not recipe for disaster (and I’m being modest here), then I don’t know what is.

      0

      0
    • @Tubulu, there is on Zambia, our country, at stake. Everything else is nothing. So all participants in this election must be sober minded and wait. Causing confusion is not a solution. Le,t the results be announced. If not satisfied, petition the results as per new constitution. This would put on hold the inauguration process for 14 day as the CONCOURT decides.

I am with you, but, there is an old proverb which goes:
“Once you f*ck, you cannot unf*ck”!!!
This is not Constitutional issue (at this stage) but procedural (civil law) and criminal (deception).

    • The court system is compromised. You want to work with the process, point out what’s going wrong at every stage. Build the case if the issues don’t get resolved. Wrong doing in Zambia is exalted while being upright and ethical is unrewarded.

  3. The court should reject this scheme of institutional abuse and throw it into her face. As a country we should learn to take defeat with honor and move on. How long should we continue to see such bad losers always wanting to hold the country at ransom. Its an abuse of the courts by sole losers.

    • @Senior Citizen, You are missing a point here, its not about taking on defeat, but you ought to understand and take into consideration the whole election process. If you haven`t seen the unfairness, then you have no right to say the opposition should just accept the defeat.
      – Opposition was prevented in most cases to conduct their campaigns freely as stipulated by law
      – State Media was biased
      – Ministers using state machinery for their own benefit
The list goes on, and yet you are asking opposition just to accept results and move on? You don`t see anything wrong? Its this thinking, democracy is not improving in Zambia and Africa.

  4. Fellow UPND members, when we told HH not to embrace new comers at the expense of old ones, people called us names. Now that HHs vote is under threat he and GBM want to drag us into their ‘battle’. We have achieved what we wanted; all Southern , Nothrwestern and Western Province seats. We should spill our blood for this traitor called HH ! We lost Sinda coz easterners were not happy with how he treated Canicious Banda. By the way in which capacity was a new comer Nevers Mumba addressing a press briefing ? Its coz HH has even sidelined the party spokesman Cornelius Mweetwa ! HH, this is your personal battle which you have to fight na ba Lusaka abo. We told you not to change the winning team. We did well last year compared to now. So if you want to take to the streets go with GBM Miles…

    • @4 HH the Traitor,

You can say that again because i have blogged on the same issues of wisdom you have raised. Painful as it may be at this hour, know that HH has killed UPND single-highhandedly alone. He will find it hard to defend himself as the cartel ask him why they should not kick him out for being a perennial loser. Those MPs, Mayors and Councillors who have won will not be willing to trade off their seats with dissident activities HH is asking them to take. They know that Jesus said in my father’s house, there many mansions to accommodate them all while it vividly clear that there is no future in HH’s ego except one Martha Mushipe.

    • UPND supporters got excited when spent forces (GBM, Km Sampa, Gay Scott, Mpombo, Mulenga Sata, Lupando Mwape, Bob Sichinga, Nevers Mumbaetc, etc.) were joining its top ranks. But we told them that flight HH2016 was bound to crash with no possibility of survivors because it was overloading its cock pit with discredited politicians who were already rejected by the Zambian voter. SO DON’T CRY Argentina. This is HH’s own making out of extreme desperation and selfishness. ECL KOLOPA nafuti

    • @HH the Traitor,
Your message seem to make sense, but I just wonder how you would have fought that “tribal tag” which to some extent got dispersed with GBM.
HH mistake was sidelining the original UPND members and focused his campaign with newcomers. It would have been okay to have both Canicious Banda and GBM going around during the campaign. Anyway, its crying over spilled milk.

HH should take responsibility for his decision.

      0

    • @General Kanene:

You can NEVER fight the ugly tag of TRIBALISM by being CYNICAL. The biggest problem HH has is that he thinks too highly of himself and takes advice from others very poorly. He cynically sidelined Canacious Banda and selected GBM as running mate to, above all, try and hoodwinke BEMBAS, and NORTHERS in general, that he is a reformed man.

Mind you, this is somebody who, not too long ago, said some very vicious and horrible things about M.C. Sata. Both personally and through his ZWD. So for him to cosmetically embrace GBM and try to use Sata’s own son (Mulenga) to gain votes from the North is CYNICISM at its waste. But people are NOT stup!d, they could see right through such half-baked political machinations. And the results in both Northern and Eastern Provinces…

Zambians where wide awake when they cast their ballots and they picked exactly a person they feel should be their President. If that’s LOSING then I must be living on some alien planet.

By the way, like others have already pointed out, doesn’t it seem strange that the ORIGINAL leadership of UPND has stayed so quite and in the background since the arrival of PF CARTEL in UPND, and the picking of GBV as running mate? SOMETHING TO SERIOUSLY THINK ABOUT BEFORE YOU START PICKING LOSERS—friendly advice!

  13. Iwe @abuse of LP, these results are too good to be true. Ta tenga Mwandi na Mandgango? This is dununa zoona chabe. By the way, the UPND lost in Luapula because forward in Luapula Lingua (usi) means going backwards. That’s why ushis go backwards when they dance along to the chorus of their songs which go “foward mama … forward”, while reverse means the opposite. PF knew this so they slotted in reverse in the dununa song knowing the Luapulans will understand it as going front, and it worked as can be seen from the good vote from there. Muziganiza, ba UPND. Apa so ni zee for another 5 yrs, hoping you survive the destructive traits of those PF rejects u accommodated at your own peril.

  14. No re-run necessary, there was no strong “third party” to help split the votes into three ways because MMD was completely destroyed. Therefore, this was a clear 2 horse race and 50% + 1 vote was achieveable. Going by the current trend, ECL has taken this as projected by the Daily Nation. This is the time for HH to concede and act like a statesman. He will gain more than he will lose if he follows this advice.

    • This election has been fraudulent. To allege fraud however the courts require a high standard as the Supreme Court has ruled in a plethora of cases like NKONGOLO FARM LIMITED V ZAMBIA NATIONAL COMMERCIAL BANK LIMITED AND OTHERS (2005) ZR 78 (SC) , SABLE HAND ZAMBIA LIMITED V ZAMBIA REVENUE AUTHORITY (2005) ZR 109 (SC). Those in the legal profession will recall the standard that was also set by the English Court in the FTJ Chiluba case of ATTORNEY GENERAL OF ZAMBIA V MEER CARE & DESAI (A FIRM) & ORS [2008] EWCA CIV 1007 (31 JULY 2008).

Therefore for UPND, they will need to prove for instance whether, there was intimidation, beatings, hooliganism, squeezing of campaign space, unfair coverage from public media and other illegalities by the PF and its government.

      So let it role on…

    • So let it role on….. winning an election should not be on the back of thuggish and criminal conduct. You had the campaign of the President being bolstered by illegal ministers. So ConCourt is the way to go. And it aint over until their Lordships pronounce.

It will certainly be setting an undemocratic and barbaric precedence if the conduct of Lungu and PF is rewarded. Let this what was seen in Lusaka be the final shame in an election going forward that bullies and criminals will not launder their egregious conduct through a ballot box secured by intolerance, intimidation and brute force of reprisals of voters. No to stone age African dictatorial politics of the ZANU PF Mugabe style.

    • My strong views are that this impugned election process must be put before the courts of law so that the future conduct of elections should be determined on whether it is brute force or reasoned persuasion that should govern the conduct of our affairs.

Since time immemorial humanity has existed under the order of reason and proscribed brawn or muscle might to govern conduct of our affairs. And thus a physically weak woman is able to walk without fear of molestation from brutish hulks. The property owner can rest in peace without fear that the majority poor will overtake his serenity.

Should elections be won on unleashing the most savage and beastly of our midst and such results allowed to hold? I assert to the contrary and as per latin maxim ‘ei qui affirmat, non ei qui negat,…

    • Should elections be won on unleashing the most savage, brutal, criminally minded and beastly of our midst and such results allowed to hold? I assert to the contrary and as per latin maxim ‘ei qui affirmat, non ei qui negat, incumbit probatio’ , I urge UPND legal team to gather evidential burden to discharge their inevitable burden of proof. Let’s extend the franchise of democratic dispensation and attendant jurisprudence. A contrived victory is a nullity, and this is the golden thread in all human endeavours.

      It’s now Court time!!

  16. I REPEAT WITH OR WITHOUT ECZ PF HAVE WON THESE ELECTIONS HANDS DOWN. COUNTING IS ALWAYS DONE AT POLLS STATION. WINNERS ARE ARE KNOWN AND START CEREBRATING RIGHT THERE. FIGURES ARE KNOWN AND COMMMUNICATED EVERY ONE INCLUDING TO RESPECTIVE PARTY H.Q’S. ECZ IS THERE ONLY TO VERIFY AND ANNOUNCE TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD. SO WHY IS MUSHIPE USING ECZ A SCAPEGOAT?

    • So what is holding ECZ to announce those results then, if they are just puppets to make official announcement?
By Sunday morning we have results for 54 out of 156 constituencies, i.e. 34.6%, for you that is okay?

  17. When I said it, upnd die-hard on this forum called me a Pf *****a failing to smell the coffee in the wind of change. I said; “All the people joining hakainde are those that were with Scot at the lodge instead of being at Mulungushi. A bunch of bitter losers with no value. hakainde is the biggest loser here.”
By the way, congratulations Dr Nevers Mumba on your hijacking of upnd spokespersonship as well as of Chairman of ECZ to declare hakainde as winner.

  18. Media coverage doesn’t always deliver victory, and Kabimba is a good example. He had the post to himself, yet went on to tumble to non-entities like Saviour and a certain Banda. Also consider that the Presidential candidates had TV debates except Lungu, but their ware didn’t sale. Landeniko fimbi. Agreeing with @Post Sympathiser, votes are not counted at Polling Stations in full glare of party agents. So a party without representation on the ground is not worth holding Zambia at ransom. Didn’t UPND strip all trucks to the chassis to search for ballot papers. Lekeni normal life ichite resume.

While this always remains a paramount factor, a dissection of the composition of the total electorate reveals that there are more uneducated mediocre people who are morally perverse than the enlightened ones. 33. I don’t believe that all humans are created equal. Here in Zambia and elsewhere in Africa we are not capable of holding fair and transparent elections. That should tell you a lot about our capacity as potential ‘humans’. So far, taking everything in account, It is fair to say we are sub human. I know the truth really hurts, but lets call a spade a spade. People want to cheat at primary school, secondary school, college, at work, in public offices (police, government, courts) basically everywhere. Now this is catching up with us. We are now taking our own medicine. This mediocrity is our output. I mean, imagine people entering server rooms illegally, people vanishing with electoral papers, giving transport as a reason for delaying the counting of votes etc. We are a waste of…

I concur. This is not been an election but lynching of the opposition by State condoned PF thuggery.

And I am surprised that North Western revolted more against this violent conduct of the PF by posting huge votes for UPND much more than his home province.

At the end of the day, this nation remains deeply divided and this schism will only be healed at the table of free and fair election. There is something that the peoples of the West, North West, mid central and South are protesting against the PF and their conduct. No glossing over will do.

I’m still shocked, we still cannot hold credible elections 52 years after independence. In the past we blamed everything on colonialism, now lets us prove by even a ray of hope that we can handle our own affairs. To summarize I think we only survive because we are on a ‘life support system’ from deserving humans. When left alone, we can generate only conflict, disease and hopelessness.Things like scramble for Africa happen will continue happening because we allow it. And what is happening now is one way of fueling that. Stop for a moment and think about what would happen now if Zambia was invaded? BTW this a common…

  36. What a hollow victory for PF.

the results do not represent the will of the people and were only possible with massive rigging and abuse of public funds to campain using illigal ministers.

    • No, there is no victory here. There are grounds for petition. Don’t roll over or else in future, the killing and brutality of PF will forever resurface at each election time to bustardize any outcome.

This is what Mugabe does. He whips the electorate into submission. That is why despite the suffering of those humble people of Zimbabwe, Mugabe continues ‘winning’ elections. Unacceptable. This we should never ever allow to recur. The beatings, maiming, killings and violence of the PF was too palpable for any reasonable semblance of a free and fair election. And since an election is only legitimate if its free and fair, we shall test this election in the Courts of law. The blood of Mapenzi will speak!

I live in ZAMBIA,if you audit the ruling party and the opposition, they have failed to show real justifiable and credible leadership, thats why all of them like some people posting here are bitter and all hateful of one candidate or the other, this clearly shows you how messed up zambia is,nothing good comes out of a bitter person but selfishness and lack of proper principle based debates, here,we have seen the seating presidents always escape presidential debates, imagine Obama refusing to show up for a debate!!!!!We can even hear our own leaders boldness towards the principles they have all we hear from all sides is hate speeches only..this is killing us!!!

    • Sir,

An election ought to be free and fair. And the onus for this environment is the sitting President. We have had this priviledge since 1991 bar the just ended election.

To say the opposition is bitter is to miss the plot. These are people who were maimed, beaten and brutalized by the ruling PF. There is no victory here but a rape of the process. This cannot be allowed to stand. Even Sir, a giant is not allowed to enjoy fruits of illegality. And this we shall challenge all the way to the ICC.

    • Indeed, this lack of ability to distinguish between what is WRONG and what is RIGHT is outrageous. People just follow blindly and losing sight. People are supposed to condemn what is wrong regardless of party affiliation, for as long as this doesn’t change, this mess will continue.
At the moment, looking in the near future and the Zambian political scene, I don`t see any CREDIBLE LEADER who will take us off this mess for as long as majority of people accept mediocre leadership, actually, no leadership at all. We are not thinking about our future generation, think about future of our children, but we are so selffish to think just about our immediate gains – Tuchekeleko, or sangwapo or fikayisova type of thinking. 39. Just by looking at the level of intelligence demonstrated by the called “Zambian Elite” on this forum, you will understand what the future holds for us in Zambia. We still have a long way to go. If the so called educated bloggers (some of them leading a decent life) are not able to distinguish between what is wrong and right, how can we expect the poor man in a village with a 1 meal per day, and focused on surviving the next day, to make the right decision. The future for him doesn’t exist. And instead of these educated people to help the masses, they are comfortable with the Dununa reverse parties. Africans are the most divided lot and mostly on irrelevant issues such tribe, relation etc I know for one that very few of them deserve the positions they occupy in society. imagine MPs with forget papers, ministers who e.g Mwanakatwe who borrow money meant for poor people do not return it. his husband Dr Mwanakatwe is CEO for Zamtel. 7. Ambassador Mwamba has been tinkering with election results in his hotel room with his Ugandan GUEST. Unthinkable .

    8. A truck load of pre-marked ballot papers entered Zambia from Mozambique! An hallucination

    ETC ETC

ALL ELECTED INDIVIDUAL MPs, COUNCILLORS, MAYORS verified AND accepted the RESULTS for themselves and for their political parties in their respective counties. So far PF has AMASSED close to 80% MPs. No one is disputing this figure except the Presidential figure. Who do UPND think supporters of these MPs voted for President?

    0

    0
  42. It is only in countries where presidential elections are held separately from parliamentary elections where people may vote differently for the president of the party and members of the party. How can you vote for the member of the party without voting for the president of the party? So it is unlikely that a party with 44 MPs which is not being disputed can have a president with the majority of the votes.

The chap caught with a forged ID needs to go to jail because he took a risk and he was caught. These are supposed to be fair elections and so far seem one sided. The Ndola case where the chap took off with the documents…. how bizzare is that? I can understand the frustrations on everyone part but they have to release the results before tension and speculations arise. Its safe to say we all know where this is heading. 55. Politicians to some extent are like marketers, they look at the weaknesses of their customers, the electorate, and tailor their message to suit. For example in 1991 people used to go to political rallies to listen to real staff not to listen to music, dance and drink because most of the people then were educated enough. 25 years later we have a generation of mostly uneducated youngsters who know nothing about the past. Those days it was rear to find a Zambian in town who could not speak English. My point is, this mediocrity is here to stay as long as free Education continues to be suppressed. Nelson Mandela said “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”.

  56. About Tribalism, I read a lot of comments of people trying to help one another by pointing out the logs embedded in one another’s eyes. Zambia in general is rife with tribalism as is evident from the presidential results from various constituencies because the trend is predictable who wins what constituency depending on the region. The only neutral provinces are copperbelt, Lusaka and partly Central Province. The only problem is that some tribes think they are more superior than others so they accuse openly without checking the Log in their eye. The same reason Christians think they are more superior than Moslems. At the end of the day we are all Zambians and Lets learn to look for quality and a spirit of service. Politicians are mere job seekers, especially most of the kind we have nowadays. I say politicians are same, the only difference is their capacity to implement policies that ensure equitable distribution of our taxes, if not, these taxes end up in the pockets of the already rich if you understand the game of money. I also tell them things like a government is a custodian of our resources as a country so our president needs a capable team of negotiators which he should be able to take advantage of should their be a deal between us and other countries, even between government and other entities within the country. With that, it means depending on the faculties of the government the rich will become richer because they have mastered the art of maximization of profits. Of course they always become richer but a government with good capacity is able to “mitigate” the rate. I tell them that in the game of money, don’t look for money, as those physical papers that blow people’s hearts, instead become money itself. NOW, THAT YOU WON’T FIND IN ANY DEGREE.

  61. HH, GBM & MARTHA NEED URGENT PSYCHIATRIC MEDICATION
If one lacks the football talents of Brazilian Pele, its best to be spectator than force oneself to play centre forward in a national team. In the same vein HH has exhibited the worst form of politics because he was not born a politician, but was rather dragged into the political game by a serious virus called tribalism.

UPND evolved a diversity of excuses long before the onset of the election season. How on Earth can HH assume that the people of Luapula must vote for him when he has infected the Tongas never to vote for the non-Tongas in Southern Province. I fear HH, Martha & GBM may develop a lethal (killer) form of depression if they cannot control themselves. The trio- urgently need psychiatric attention.

  63. “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire”; the reason why election results are released expeditiously in developed countries is to reduce the chances of rigging or just the appearance of impropriety. That’s how a country safeguards its democracy. It should only take a day for ECZ to release results in a country as small as Zambia.

Seeing is believing…… so the saying goes, just because one failed to prove one rigged the election does not mean it is not true….. alot happens behind the scenes….. ask people who work in intelligence they know it all too good if not better…… PF might win if not wonm they had a lot at stake had they lost….judge for yourself

  66. You can be surprised….. PF has already worn this election. HH please temper down. its not the end of the road. Concentrate on the future elections other than crying over spilled milk. Show Zambians that you are a credible leader by not issuing alarming statements. Reflect on what has made you tumble again in this election. And my fellow Zambians, please lets not mock the loosing camp. We are brothers no need to fight or celebrate in a manner that will provoke the loosing camp. A real man is seen in the way he handles a defeat.

  67. If Bembas are thieves as claimed by UPND supporters, why have you tolerated GBM, second in command, Nevers Mumba, Miles Sampa etc.
Petition is fine and welcome, but do you think recount in Kanyama will give HH more than 100,000 VOTES,
Why is it that you did not claim Form 12 when HH was leading in Southern, Western and North Western?
